The previous thread didn't mention Wharfedale speakers special.

The WHARFEDALE 825 WATT 5.1 SPEAKER PACK down to $481 this time cheaper than last year 40% off.

Anybody know how is it compare with the Jamo 426 from Amazon?

AT-400 $306.60
AT-500 $453.60

  • How would you compare Jarrah and Pine?

    • +5

One is a nice coffee, the other is a fresh scent?

  • Jamo S426 is a 5.0 system (no subwoofer). This Wharfedale is a 5.1 system.

    • I know I mean the in term of sound with movie and music.

  • Cheapest I can find these for elsewhere is about $750 (ebay). Quick read seems to indicate that they get reasonable reviews for the price range. Wireless rears must be a plus but did see one review where they kept dropping out (although seemed to work fine whenever the test setup sounds were played).

Biggest problem for me is the fronts and centre wont fit in existing cabinet.

Disclaimer - I don't really know speakers at all but am in the market (for AV receiver as well if anyone has pointers).

    Edit: Are the fronts CR30.3 or CR30.1? I'm sure I read initially CR30.3 (larger) but on second read they may be only CR30.1? I think its 2 x CR30.1, 2 x CR30.5, 1 x CR30 and the subwoofer?

Edit 2: Not even sure if the rears are even wireless now…. probably best to ignore me :-)

    • Comparing the JB illustration with the Wharfedale site, front are CR30.4, rear are CR30.1, centre is CR30C. Sub isn't mentioned in the series on the Wharfedale site.

  • I went in store yesterday to grab the SW-150 subwoofer, of course there was none in stock :(

  • Probably was said elsewhere but free shipping on the Wharfedale 825 watt 5.1 Speaker Pack as well. Looks to be on backorder "Home Delivery Awaiting Stock: Usually ships within 4 days".

  • I know little about home theater but seriously considering these.
Could someone advise if should purchase this or wait for the Jamo to go back on sale, I bought that $99 DSE Pioneer VSX amp 8 months back and haven't had a chance to unbox it yet waiting for a deal on some speakers.

  • Me want to know too, I have the pioneer with my old DVD 5.1 speaker want a better set.

Went there today morning listened music on the 825, AT-400 and AT-500, I would say after you listened to AT-400 and AT-500 you will not buy the 825.

The 825 is more for movie and I think not much better than my existing DVD 5.1 speaker.

But still want to know whether the Jamo 426 is better in both movie and music.

    • Cheers for the review, haven't heard too many positive remarks about the Crystal 3 series. Unfortunately the Atlantic and Diamond series is a bit out of my budget - I have KRK Rokits for audio so needed some basic 5.1 speakers for my home theatre.

      • Have a chance play with Jamo 426 and Wharfedale 825. The Jamo is better so the price from Amazon is a bargain, will wait for it to drop back to like last year, hope the A$ will not drop at the same time.

        • I ended up buying the Wharfedale 825 as a basic home theatre solution. The Amazon reviews reinforced the Jamo was a budget set, paying $180 p&p for speakers that sell for $120-$180 couldn't be better than the Wharfedale which retail at $700 au incl subwoofer is what I figured. Guess I'll find out soon.

  • Wasnt the crystal set 412ish dollars with 40% discount earlier this year(from retail price of $688)? Can't remember.

And the retail price for the crystal, now, is only $481? or is it after the discount?

    Sorry for being confusing.

    • Yes think you're right they were $412 3 months back, oh well they're back to $688 now. Hope I get use for movies with my VX-521 and this. Thanks for posting the deal superforever.
