Morphy Richards Vorticity Bagless Vacuum Cleaner $79 free P&H

530

Hey guys,

My mother has one of these and she seems to really like it, she asked to find one online to buy for my Aunties birthday and I found it for $79 with free shipping.

$295+ on eBay
$429 at JB-HiFi

enjoy.

Edit:

It appears the free shipping is not nation wide and is for most metropolitan and other selected areas.

jb hifi sells vacuum cleaner now?

This is a pretty amazing price.. the $295 and $429 look like legitimate prices others are trying to flog it for. I think it looks horrendous but it has positive reviews and some even praise the design. For the money, it will be the third (working) bagless and 4th overall working vacuum in this house.. but can't resist. Thanks for sharing!

  • Yea am going to give it a go…

Got it along with that kettle. I don't even need them. ffs. I gotta stop visiting this site.

  • Bought one :)

  • Thanks OP. Got one as well. Showing as 15 Left in stock now.

  • Got one as well. Looks like a great deal.

How is this comparable to a dyson? Wondering if i should get this or bite the bullet and save for a dyson

    • I have a Dyson DC33 but haven't done a comparison, my mother replaced her upright vacuum with this due to it being lighter and more maneuverable for use on her stair case.

We needed a new vac so I bought one. Once again I'm trusting you guys but you haven't let me down in the past!

  • still says over 20 left in stock. They must of had a fair few of these available?

I took the plunge and purchased one.

  • I'm finding some wildly differing opinions- "amazing" "hopeless, worst ever".

only 1 review with amazon UK.

Diff. Model has mixed reviews some stating it missed the power and is good for hard floors only. Has anyone used them on carpets?

    • This owner not happy either.

Reviews for the 71081 at Amazon UK are positive and I think this model is closest to the 71082. Specs are identical as far as I could tell.

Didn't get great reviews for cleaning pet hair, but the Dyson purpose built pet variants are very dear although I expect they would do a great job.

I'm sure it would score 5 stars all round if they were getting it for $80 delivered. Going price was around 169 GBP ($267 AUD).

Bought one also, 6 year old Dyson turbine head just died.
This is less than the cost of a new turbine head.
    Will see how it goes..

  • THANKS VERY MUCH!

  • got one.. hope it proves itself

  • By "my mother has one of these" , you really mean you have this vacuum at home but its only mom who does the cleaning, right?

Edit: Here's a reviewIt sounds like a bargain for the price.

    • That review is for the Vorticity Plus (71083), this is the non-Plus Vorticity (71082). I'm not sure what the differences are, though.

      • The 71082 has a 2L bin capacity while the 71083 has a 2.75L one. Also the 71082 may not include the mini floorhead which makes vacuum stairs easier.

    • Actually I have a Dyson DC33 at my home, my Mum has this vacuum it replaced her electrolux Her Majesty's Maid Service upright vacuum.

      Also I didn't neg you.

      • +1

To confirm, she likes this one more than the Dyson and Electrolux? (not sure if you live with her).

Can't beat a Mum's recommendation on these things!

        it was a joke :)

Got 1. Thanks. Looks like a good deal. Can't wait to use it.

  • Got one thanks OP

$54 postage cost to country Victoria, thats almost as much as the vacuum. I was going to buy one too

    • +1

Free delivery to most metropolitan areas in Australia, but delivery probably kills the bargain for those in the country.

    • +3

Sorry I was unaware the free postage was not nation wide, I will update the description.

    got one, hopefully it sucks

  • no stock

    • 14 still left in Sydney.

    • to clarify in WA no stock

  • I already have a Dyson upright, but think I will need a backup, also the Dyson is a bit heavy, I think this would be good for cleaning the car. oh well, what the hell, bought.

  • The red murphy rechards kettle is listed in their catalogues as $49 but website says different, maybe the sale hasn't started yet, so watch out for that one. At $49, it's a bargain, it's a great kettle, but I paid full retail.

  • I'm getting a "Superceded, this item is no longer available for sale" message when I try to add it to my cart.

Is there only specific stock for each state?

    • just bought one and still works for me, what state r u in?

    • Says there's still 10 available on the website but 135 people are watching this item. so be quick.
      edit: I'm in vic

I think we need to start a counselling group… maybe we can call it OB Anonymous

  • Hmm, I ordered a few hours ago when it was still showing as 20+ in stock in Sydney, but I notice it says this in my order history:

Some item(s) in your order are not currently in stock in the Appliances Online warehouse closest to you. We will proceed to have your item(s) ordered into our warehouse direct from the manufacturer or transferred from an interstate warehouse. Your order will then be delivered out to you.

I'm not sure if that means it's just out of stock on their site now, or that they never had enough stock to begin with and orders might need to be cancelled…

    • I have just recieved this in my email:

"Your order 620307 has been processed by Appliances Online and is scheduled for delivery on 12/06/2013.

Your order will be delivered on an Appliances Online truck by members of our delivery team."

  • Hey! I just bought one at 21:59 EST!! Order number 620777. Delivery date 12/6.

Received this morning at 8:30AM in Sydney. Delivery guy said he had a dozen of them to deliver today. ;)

Received this morning at 9AM in Sydney. Pulled it out straight away, well built, good suction, love the design, definitely worth the $79. However, I would not throw out my Dyson just yet. Will keep this as a backup.

Mini Review (in case it appears on special again)

Received mine mid last week and tried it out on the weekend. Delivery was great, driver called and gave a window as expected.

Firstly, I have to say it looks far better than it does in photos. Really nice design, the orange and gloss white look great. The quality and finishing is excellent, slightly reminded me of an Apple product (orange Powerbok perhaps?).

The build quality as mentioned is very impressive. This is not what expect from a $79 vacuum cleaner - it's not flimsy, the telescopic tube, attachments and hoses are all built very well and have a good heft to them. You get a spare filter for both intake and exhaust which is nice. The vacuum itself has 4 roller wheels (think 4 wheel luggage) which is the first I've used and makes manoeuvring much easier. For reference, I'm comparing to an Electrolux Twinclean Z8280 which had a $779 RRP and a Dyson DC-05 which was a bit cheaper at the time.
Emptying the canister is very simple - again the simplest I've used. The suction head is extremely easy to twist/turn.

The only drawback I see and a few others online noted is that the suction isn't great on carpet (tested on a few different rugs) and the suction head feels a little light - almost as if you need to intentionally put some weight into it. This may be good for some looking for something light, for others who have thick pile carpet it wouldn't be welcome. For me, the Electrolux is best on carpet so that can stay upstairs and the Morphy Richards does a great job on hardfloor tiles/boards.

Has a 2 year warranty which I hope I don't use. Price-wise it is fantastic and if it ever pops up again for something similar I'd highly recommend it. You do get the feeling this is a $400 RRP machine when using if you think your current one is on the way out or you want a spare, definitely consider it.

    • Great review, thanks. Mine's coming Tuesday. Can't wait!

  • On backorder now, if anyone's interested. Just got myself one combining starthere.
