I've had no problems with this router and range is quite good

I got one on ebay for $120 a month ago when my router died. I cannot fault it at all! Easy to set up too!

  • noooo mr deal, where were you when i made this purchase 2 months ago..

  • Bought this a week ago at Wireless 1 in Parramatta Sydney for $120.90.

Wow, lots of us have this modem/router! For anyone considering buying this, go for it!

  • We have a 2-storey house, will this modem have enough decent range ?

the current D-link is struggling with the it.

    • i have one of these and live in an apartment building on the 3rd floor. in the underground carpark i can juuuuust pick up the signal with my phone. might be worth a shot

  • Same experience, good modem and router soooo much better then v1. Luckily it was under warranty and they swapped my v1 free for v2 at ow.

  • I have the v1, how is this different?

    • Found my v1 kept crashing a lot, even with firmware updates didn't seem to fix the problem. Had to change 3 v1 then when the 3rd one died they replaced it with v2 and had no issue since.

  • How much better is this as compared to the standard optus Netgear router. CG 3000 ?

Also are you all using this as a router or a modem + router ?

I understand that Optus will only support routers they have supplied. I am tired of replacing modems with optus, happy to pay out of pocket if this works better.

Providing you have ADSL/ADSL2+ internet (not cable), then you can use any ADSL modem.
Optus, like most ISPs, will only provide technical support for modems/routers they supply. This means if you have a problem with the modem/router, you call the manufacturer for support (not the ISP).

That's the problem , I have optus cable, does this modem have a slot at the back for cable connections? Anyone here using this modem for OPTUS CABLE?

        • No, it doesn't have a cable connection.
You can only use this as a Router that CONNECTS to your cable modem (via Ethernet).
If you only want a router, then you can just buy a router (without modem).

    • I actually got a netgear dgn2200 from Optus , which is a quite good one.

      • dgn2200 from Optus

Just checked it out , looks like it's only for ADSL, I have a cable line so can't use this one. Thx anyway.

  • Coincidentally bought one today, v2 using shoppingsquare site found on staticice. Officeworks beat it by 5% $113.95. I read on a whirlpool archived thread "On the box look under package content will say DGND3700v2" as I didn't want the v1 model.

  • Does this have ability to adjust SNR like the billion bipac 7800N?

Am pretty happy with 7800N but was wondering if I could try the dual band on this one for my ipad, but I need to adjust SNR..

    • No it doesn't.
