I and a friend are thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 or a Nexus 10, need to buy these before the end of the month.
The best deal right now for Tab2 seems to be around the $270 mark in Officeworks and DSE.
Can any experienced Ozbargainers find a better deal for local stock ? having been on OZB for some time I hate paying full RRP. Thanks for any deals.
I would buy the Nexus 10 only if it had a Micro Sd slot, still trying hard to get over that,
On the same way the Galaxy tab 2 has a shitty front camera 0.3 Mp (VGA) so haven't bought it either. Still waiting on the sidelines.
If you plan to root/flash a different rom on the nexus 10 this might be suitable, you can plug in the cable and then plug in a usb or hard drive (keyboard or mouse).

The TF 300 Looks very good, sadly no stock anywhere around Melbourne, But I have to agree it is excellent value and ticks all the boxes.

I agree. I bought Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 late last year for myself. My wife has Ipad 2. Eventhough GT2 came out around the same time, I find Ipad 2 to be a lot smoother and faster to use. Nexus 10 I am guessing would be lot better. Might as well spend extra $100 to get Ipad instead (if you can still buy the old one). Now sure how much are Nexus 10.
hmmmm I know the Ipads are smoother, sadly I don't like most other things about ios

I've got the note 10.1 and to be honest the only reason I bought it was for the digitized stylus for uni but other than that I can't say it's better than the nexus 10 except the micro sd slot but I think it'd would probably be better to get the 10.1 tab (money-wise).

have you considered the chinese tablets? if he's not that much into technology then Ainol might do the job well, we have an Ainol 7" for the kids and it's not that bad.

I can see that the 9.7" model has better screen resolution. Other than that I can't find anything else. Is it worth the extra money for it? $223 vs $184

Personally I'm not too bothered by the resolution (compared between note 10.1 1366x76 vs ipad retina) so I wouldn't pay extra for it but it depends on what you would notice or care about. The Spark does however have a higher ram 2gb vs 1gb in the hero which I would pay more for as it means you can load apps faster, multitask much more smoothly and you can keep more apps open in the background.
So personally I would get the Spark.
Note it also has a higher capacity battery and also better front and rear cameras.

Finally bought a 8.4 " Samsung Galaxy s on Gumtree for 360 brand new, Works well, Happy with the purchase.
The Nexus 10 and GT2 10.1 are in completely different leagues - the Nexus 10 is exponentially better (and more expensive). If you are looking for a higher end device get the Nexus. But yes, $270 is the best current price for the GT2 10.1.
