Tune had the most comfortable beds in Asia, aside from Pullman.

    • I stayed at the Tune hotel at KL airport and it was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in . Literally you end up crawling over your suitcases .

I tried 2 random dates, both came up at $85ea. Perhaps Friday and Saturdays are excluded? ("Promotional rates are limited to double rooms, excludes peak periods and only available only on specific dates").

    • +1

No code. Probably won't be as cheap on weekend, holiday etc.

      • -7

Thanks. I tried numerous other dates and only found one with $49 (it was on a Thursday). Sounds like the Jetstar model all over with big promises and little deliveries. From what I can see:

        Fri/Sat/Sun: No
        Public holidays: No
Australian Open dates (half of January): No

They should clearly state the exclusions and specific dates as things appear very limited right now.

finally, quite decent hotel with reasonable price. hotel formula1 is less than $100/nite too.

Brings back some memories, I'm not sure what this Tune Hotel is like but i've stayed in the one beside the airport in Kuala Lumpur and it was by far the smallest hotel room i have ever seen in my life, which isnt really a problem if all you want to do is sleep (which is what i was doing), and for the price i was happy with it.
But just a warning for others, there wasnt even enough room to put my bag on the floor, the room had a double bed and the walls were literally about 4 inches from the edge of the bed.

Just to give you an idea - Cosy

      Skyhooks $1 ea. ??

    • Ha ha, fat people cant roll out and if skinny people roll out, they cant get back up…stuck between bed and wall.
      Classic…..

When I was in kl there was one near me that had a subway inside, I only went there to get subway. lol They seemed to be really strict on check in time, plenty of travelers were sitting around waiting for checkin time before being able to use their room. At $49 for a night in a capital Australian city seems like a bargain, good to see some alternatives to hostels here for those travelling on a budget. :)

    • +10

That's a sad story. You went to KL for Subway? Should've just stayed home.

    • That's because hotels over there are rented by the hour :^)

  • This is a $6 discount? Not much, but at $49.00 p/n this works out the cheaper than a UniLodge!

$49 ?? more like Tuna Motel

I've stayed at several tune hotels in London. Yes they are quite small and extra charges apply for things. But hey at the end of the day if your travelling and site seeing and your not overly concerned about the extras you get in a normal hotel and the only thing you need is somewhere to sleep tune hotels are a perfect option!

  • I am so happy to see Tune in Oz. Bring on Sydney.

Ive stayed at Tune Hotels: KL downtown, Damansara (KL suburb), Johore Baru, Penang, Kuta, Legian and akin to airasia, have always bought on special in advance. Yes the rooms are small and the most I have ever paid was $5/night. A highly recommended chain. If you know your travel dates in advance it may work for you to get the rates I did but only in advance.

    • +1

      do you mean $50/night?

      • +1

AU$5.00 max or 15 Malaysian Ringgit max.
As I said, buy in advance, when they are on special.
That's for the hotels I mentioned within Malaysia.
They all equated to a free, or 1 Malay Dollar/room plus hotel taxes.

    • Hi Binatang,
I've only stayed at the KL Airport Tune hotel & found it VERY noisy (hear people walking past the room, plane noise, etc).
Are all the other Tune hotels like this? Are they also incredibly small as others have mentioned?
As you have stayed in so many I'm interested in your experience.

Tune in Bangkok was a shocker. Thin walls and echoey passage. Recorded Voice when lift doors opened adding to it. Tune Makati was good re noise except for ancient technology aircond. Both were tiny. This one is on a busy road with tram tracks, so I would not risk it if light sleeper. Tune do not listen to 'special requests' so that is not an option.

      • Gaz happy to share but better to logon later once i fire up my laptop instead of this android thingy

  • So if I book 5 nights and if I am 2 people do I need to buy 10 comfort packages?

    Or just 5?

..in order to get 2 towels every day?

If I order 10 arent I doubling up the the tv?

    • +3

Buy 5, and just get the extra $2.20 towel/toiletries. No point doubling up on TV.

      • +1

        mmm…

There is a 'comfort package' for $11 that includes tv, towels and wifi.

Buying 10 of those for 5 nights and 2 people seems silly?

        Anwyays,

I ended up buying 10 towels and 5 tv's individually.

I can alway use my phone as a wifi data point.

        Thanks OP.

  • Damn.. F1 is on in Melbourne on 13-16 of March!

    • Imagine flying into Melbourne with Air Asia and staying in a Tune Hotel to support Caterham F1.

Great find, perfect for the tigers $10 tickets I bought

  • +1

I have stayed at these hotels before in KL, be warned the rooms are very very small. Best only for overnight stopover only, not any normal holiday etc as their is only inches ever side of bed and no room for luggage.

  • .
Well done neil for posting this ! (although I'm in Melbourne not needed here)

Tune Hotel & Air Asia tie in will mean once established they'll be offering Air Asia & Tune Hotel combined deals
across Asia …… I wonder if Air Asia fly to London …… that would be OzBargained …..
ok, ok …. I could check www my self, but I'm just so tired and worn out today ;)
    .

  • Cheaper than taxi home!

  • great deal…anyone think $85 for nye is really worth it? looks tempting but I can't seem to pull the trigger…and we are not really looking for a quiet sleep, just a place to rest after the celebrations saving the dreaded trip home which usually dampens our spirits.

  • +1

Check out Hotel Sophia in Melb. For a few $'s more inc. breakfast. I also stayed at Tune in KL and stretched out could reach from one side of room to other.

    • wow, very nice, really adding just 6 dollars for breakfast for 2, thanks heaps :)

      • How $6? it mentions it as dearer above

        • Hey, what I meant was its 85 for tune and 91 for sophia, sophia comes with free basic hot breakfast and a larger room…so $6 dollars more for a deal on nye that gets you breakky…unless I have missed something.

        • NYE at Sofias starts at $289 for non-shared-bathroom room.

        • Oh yer, you're right, I know what i did wrong…I put in the dates and forgot to press search…in the middle of studying for admin law exam haha…brain has fried beyond recognition. 88 isnt too bad if you are willing to do a shared bathroom though…as for me, the inconsistent reviews were a deal-breaker for me. Probably spend nye at home again…

  • Pictures of hotel look very nice. Booked 1 day in December using Paypal, as I'm going to Melbourne for a week and want a good night sleep before returning to Sydney. Had an error at the end of booking, but Paypal account was debited. Lets hope the booking went through.

  • Looks good.

I am sooo sick & tired of the Brotherhood Bin…

  • things like Internet/TV/Towels are an added extra.

    according to http://www.piecesofvictoria.com/2013/07/melbournes-new-pay-a…

paying extra for services such as air conditioning, TV, daily room cleaning and towels.

    • I doubt if they could turn off the air conditioning if the windows don't open. As usual the media just cut and paste from the company's web page. No mention of air-conditioning being charged on Tune's Melbourne web page.

      • That's the way it works at the Tune Hotel in KL airport. If you want A/C, you pay for an A/C card that activates the air conditioner for your chosen period of time. From what I remember the windows don't open either.
