The only one thats 'decent' right now is the galaxy note 8"
I'm not too keen on the stylus, so if i can find something similar spec'd without the stylus input and save myself a bit that would be great.
even though i would like something with decent branding.

The tablet you're looking at is pretty decent. But avoid that store. Shop from somewhere else, even Deal Extreme (despite their apparent shonkyness from last months promotion, they are actually pretty reliable for product returns)

If you are limiting yourself to an 8" form factor, then you have very little choice as there are a lot less 8" tabs than there are 7 inch ones. There are plenty of 7" tabs to choose from (Nexus, Ainol, Acer, Samsung to name a few) in many different price ranges.
Other places you can consider is Merimobiles and BuySKU. I have limited experience with other stores, so I can't make other recommendations.
7" is too small :) that's why i'm after an 8" and i don't want the 9.7 and > tablet size either.

The m1 looks nicer and has aluminium back with a 5mp camera instead of 2, but the camera isnt a big deal.. Quality of both of these is my main priority!
Why not buy that then? The specifications are fairly decent.
Your other (local) alternative is the new 8" Acer ICONIA A1-810 featured some time ago on Ozbargain. However it's not as fast as the Window N80.
