Can't decide whether I want to splash out and buy this only tell sell in one year or buy an LG IPS 23" for $199.

    • link for LG please?

  • Not exactly rare (it's been 30% off/$559 several times this year, including last month) but still good deal for a quality 27", especially with the falling dollar…

    • Since when is Ozbargain only doing rare price drops? Up&Gos at half price have been posted many times this year or what about memory cards @ http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108068 just off the top off my head…

  • still a good deal for a great monitor…
i remember paying over $1k for my 2417

  • This or the U2713H?

The U2713H was on sale for about $669 just a week ago, but I missed it. I work with photos so was leaning towards the H (that said, I don't work with 10 bits!). Now .. to get this for $559, or wait till the H goes on sale again (and save $100).

  • Can you really tell the difference a lot between these specs and say FHD 1980x1080 95% matt display?

    • +1

Yes, a 27" at 1080p just looks ugly, there isn't enough detail in the picture and it looks blurry. With 2560x1440 you'll have much more stuff on screen and it will be sharper.

    • I have a 1920x1080 27" now and text is very noticeably "rougher" due to the larger dot pitch. That's why I'm looking at getting a higher-res one now.

Physically notice the difference? I can imagine so, but would you care? Well while watching HD video probably not, while browsing websites, probably not..

However the extra screen real estate it gives for a software development, resounding YES, for graphic design or videography, resounding YES - not to mention the good colour accuracy.

Oh and for games I know I'll definitely notice the difference, because my frame rate is going to suck at 2560 x 1440 ;P

i picked up the U2713HM when it was on sale earlier this year and the IPS panel has really improved my photography post production, especially in correcting subtle skin tones under strongly coloured lights.
totally recommend it, especially when it's hundreds of bucks less at EOFY!

  • Got this one last year with the same discount ( in fact, i got it at 31% off-1% for student discount)
    Love it!!!
Now, i'm planning on getting the Utra 3014 at the end of this year, for i want more ^^

  • Waiting for sale on 30"

  • and remember folks, to display the native res, you need a DVI-I port available, otherwise you'll "only" be able to display FHD (1080)

  • Just bought. Hopefully my accountant can help recover most of the expense in a few weeks.

    • It arrived today at work. I'm glad I drove into the office.
