FREE $40 Uber Private Luxury Chauffeur-Driven Hire Car Ride - Melbourne + Sydney [New Sign-Ups]

132
WinterIsComing

don't forget 6140xxxxx for multiple free $40 rides ends this sunday :)

not sure if these codes are valid with the new ubertaxi in sydney, where as usual, there's 0% credit card surcharge (also no $2 booking fee atm)

alternatively, or when WinterIsComing expires, sign up with TECHdotMN, which apparently gives 25% off your first five rides

  • Works up until 29/7

  • assume you can't delete your existing account and re-create it. i could make multiple emails up but it saves in your CC details and cannot be removed.

  • Nice find! my little lady has a fancy party coming up - has anybody used this service before?

    • +1

yes i've been using it a bit this month with the entertainment codes - free limo is cheaper than public transport :)

      • I will be 5-10 mins ride only if you get the limo for FREE (Under $40)

        • more like 15min to travel 7-8km :)

  • perfect for the trip to the airport tomorrow

    Word of Warning:

I just checked my new account details and notice it defualts to a "Taxi Gratuity" of 20%, meaning you would pay a 20% tip to your driver on top of the fare amount!

You can change it to a lesser amount including zero.

Bit of a scam if you ask me. Reminds me of those added insurance boxes with the airlines that you need to untick to not buy.

    • this only applies to taxi fares which they have just recently introduced. this doesn't apply to private transfer.

    • yes definitely change it - 20% is unnecessary for taxis here :)

    • Could not find these settings in my profile…
      Where is it?

      • not in settings but billing

  • I feel dumb.. Cant seem to work it out. If I wanted a ride from the Tullamarine airport to Melb CBD how much would that cost?

  • Hey OP as you have stated above "alternatively, or when WinterIsComing expires, sign up with TECHdotMN, which apparently gives 25% off your first five rides"

Could you just add that under the "promotions" section of the dashboard?
If the winteriscoming code is a one time use only code per account, I assume it will expire after your first trip so adding the techdotmn code would apply for every trip after that? Is that correct?

    • +1

no - both codes are for new sign-ups only

  • How do multiple passengers affect the price?

    • uber charges per vehicle, not per passenger, with cars seating at least four people

  • I signed up with 'WinterIsComing', but there is no indication of me having a $40 credit at all. How do I know if it's credited to me when I do use it next week?

    • Log into your account, go to Promotions

WinterIsComing is NOT working in Sydney. I found out the hard way. After taking a journey, and being charged the full amount, I queried and was advised it only relates to a specific event in Melbourne and can be used between 22 and 28 July.

  • +1

i should not have tried uber before reading your post! i ended up paying in full too! no response from uber support.
very disappointed. will close the account soon.

  • I too had to find out the hard way! In correspondence with UBER to try and get a credit. The only reason I used UBER was to trial them out. The destination was only a 10 minute walk down the road.

Can anything be done about this?

    • perhaps let them know that when you signed up, it was valid anytime until end 28th july, and you weren't made aware of it being changed?

  • I was planning to use this code in 3 days time? Is it worth the risk?
