  • It can be bought for less from other online sites however I do not know of any other retailers selling this phone in store for less.

  • +1

Great Phone, managed to pick one up back when JB had it for $380.
My one also came with a free miracast adapter (I understand the first 5000 in Australia comes with this)

    • same here. I love this phone. Technically same screen size as nexus 4 but the optimus G has the home and other bottom buttons outside the screen just below it so the screen is actually bigger. Almost the same size as the sony xperia z i recon.

    • how is the battery life?

      • Decent. Easily last a day of full usage

  • Just wondering why jbhifi doesn't list all the specs or at least link them.

  • Great phone. I use this over the the HTC One that I bought recently. I bought it from JB when it was $380.

    • yeh, i was really bummed when i missed out on that deal

    • what do you like about this better than the htc one?

        1. The way the Optimus G feels.
        2. The buttons are in the correct place.
        3. You don't need to fumble around to press/find the volume keys and power button (don't know if you pressed it or not)
        4. IMO HTC Sense is crap, blink feed is annoying and ZOE photos are shit. Especially when you have a Dropbox linked to auto upload photos as it uploads around 10 photos at the same time.
        5. When you press the home button it actually takes you to the home screen. Not just the app drawer where you have to press the back key to get back. Counter intuitive?
        6. Holding the home key should take you to task manager not Google Now.
        7. No stock power bar in notification bar on HTC One.
        8. No menu button on HTC One.

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll get around to rooting and installing a decent custom rom one day.

  • I suspect this is a runout due to the imminent release of the Optimus G2, August 7.
Anyway, the Optimus G seems to be a good phone. I'd like the camera from the OG in my Nexus 4. :)

Press invite is pretty clearly hinting that the subject is the Optimus G2:

  • Does this model have 850mhz or 900mhz for 3g?

    • Be careful about which 3G bands this phone supports. I was going to buy an Optimus G about 2 months ago but LG were clearly stating that it only supports 900Mhz and 2100Mhz 3G. If you see 850 in the specs that will be referring to GSM 850 (2G) support.
I'm fairly certain Both Telstra and Vodafone are now (for practical purposes) 850 mhz only for 3G in the state capitals - and you can't rely on 4G being available once you go more than 15Km from the CBD's.
So if you are buying this phone it's really best suited to Optus network.
Being limited to one carrier took away the advantage for me in buying a phone outright.
Apart from that it's a great phone.

      • Nope, works great with Telstra and Vodafone 3G

  • Why wouldn't you get the nexus 4 for cheaper instead…lower upfront cost plus timely updates without having to rely on LG

    • it's a 4G phone, 32G. Nexus - 3G only, 16G

  • It works on the 3G 850mhz signal and 4G LTE

  • can anyone give me some honest feedback on this phone before i buy this phone? looks like its dropped in price to $446 http://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/lg/optimus-g-4g-black-sku-38…
