    Finish tablets:

IMO Qauntum is much better than Classic.

    • Not a problem, but please point to an equivalent deal for Qauntum tablets. Happy to hear about one.

Currently we use these in our F & P dishdrawer using 1/2 a tablet per wash (frugal ozbargainer) and they work well. Purchased on a previous ozbargain deal, very happy.

      • what size dishdrawer do you have?

i have a mini one (it's an older one, but probably equivalent to the smallest sized current model dishdrawer)…i've been scared to use tablets, because i assume the ratio of powder to water would be all wrong!

        • Seems like a pretty big dishwasher flaw if the one they created is not compatible with 99 or even 100% of dishwashing tablets… If it has a slot I'm guessing its fine.

        • well, it works fine with powder (tablets are just a convenient form of the powdered stuff)…so i wouldn't call it a design flaw.

but yeah, i dunno. maybe i'm just being overcautious.

half tablets sounds like a good idea though.

oh, and the other question i had is: how do you half a powerball? (regular tablet should be fine, but you cut powerball ones in half too?)

        • We have the double dishdrawer, i.e small on the top and larger one on the bottom. We use the bottom (larger drawer) and simply drop the half tablet into the bottom of the drawer, anywhere it falls. We use the half with the red ball on dirtier batches and the other half, without the ball, on cups and plates. No problems.

        • Unless the cycle is shorter I would assume halving the tablet would cause it to run out early.

          Not too sure though.

        • cheers reddog, i think i'll give it a go.

samfisher: i'm thinking more along the lines of a standard cycle uses X amount of water, whereas these smaller dishdrawers might use half that (X/2). if you use a full tablet (Y) on a normal dishwasher, it would be an X:Y ratio of water to powder, so you'd want a similar ratio on the dishdrawer, i.e. X/2:Y/2. but, this depends on the actual difference in water usage…it might be an incorrect assumption that a dishdrawer uses half the water of a regular washer, just because it's half the size.

but maybe i'm overthinking this! aha

        • Unless the cycle is shorter I would assume halving the tablet would cause it to run out early.

eh!? What do you think happens when using powder?

        • actually, i think the best way to figure this out would be to measure how much powder is used in the dishdrawer, and compare it to how much powder is used in a normal dishwasher. hopefully it works out to be roughly half the amount (in which case half a tablet would be about right).

i will try this out at work!

        • It works, that's all I need to know. We used to use a full tablet and we found residue on the plates and glasses, so assumed too much material in the tablet. Then we tried a half tablet, as I said above (which half according to the contents of the drawer) and all seems fine, unless we get too greedy and fill the drawer to chock a block, which I do not recommend as it doesn't wash correctly, don't put too many frying pans on top of the other items! LOL.

  • Any possibility of posting the exact link as I cannot find this deal - thanks

  • Link doesn't appear to be relevant? I.e. takes you to OO's Cleaning area, but no Finish products are listed.

    • Sorry, when I posted the deal was not on offer to the general public and was an advanced notice. So, the link I originally gave was for newsletter receivers only and it hiccuped when I posted it.

  • here is correct link : http://www.oo.com.au/newsletters/

    for those too lazy
    59.95 + 10.95 = $70.90 / 360 = 19.69444 cents each

    • The dishwasher powder at ALDI goes for $1.99 which I believe works out to be real cheap (probably enough for 30 loads in the kg packet.).

Reject shop deal is cheaper http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91477

  • Are these overseas imported items - ie not exactly the same as Australian formulations?

Seems the same as this "standard price" here:

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/finish-classic-powerball-valu… $14.85 for 90/pk

Or for the "all in 1":

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/finish-all-in-1-powerballs.ht… $9 for 52/pk

I know the Quantum powerballs sold in coles/Safeway/Woolworths are made in Poland.
