idiot proof if possible!!!

  • Windows?

Bleachbit is free open source software and will recover space wasted in temp files you didn't know you had.

  • Windows
I have tried getting my head around Linux
The idiot proof is the clue to my capabilities

  • Afterwards, run ultradefrag (also free OSS) to consolidate the fragmented space recovered by bleachbit. It's better than the standard defrag.

ccleaner is good at cleaning out temp files, browser cache etc. it also optionally cleans registry.
freeware I have used it for several years without any problems. I usually run it before I do a backup.
Also have a look at ninite.com for other well regarded freeware with an automated installer.

I also use CCleaner….has prevented my compulsive need to format every 6 months for a few years now.

  • Thanks for the advice

  • I just don't install crap. Use a limited user account. Use a other limited account for installing things on desktop(most things can be installed this way).

Haven't had to use any special programs.
