Router suggestions

Hi Everyone.
I was hoping someone could give me a recommendation on a router to suit my needs.

Situation: I have a cheap belkin router ($19) from HN running optus cable. We have a separate unit (granny flat) on our block with an access point that connects to this router. Both houses have an Engin voicebox connected. We keep having issues with the engine voip which i think could be caused by the crappy router. Range has also been crap on the belkin so i would like to upgrade anyway.

I have been given $100 to get a new router. Doesn't need a modem, needs to run some wireless devices and the access point for the unit out the back. Not sure if it is even possible but do some support logging traffic of a port? I would like to be able to keep track of how much of my optus usage is going to the granny flat (maybe just limit speed would be ok). QOS so the voip doesnt get killed by torrents would be nice as well.

Would prefer to buy from centrecom, DSE or officeworks as they are all nearby.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hey I too need a new router money is no object but want it to be a good deal.
    Thanks.

  • I ended up getting the tplink tl-wdr4300 for $89. Has been $79 on special before apparently but for $10 i couldnt be stuff waiting.

Pretty happy with it (only issue has been the old engin voip adapters cant get through the harware NAT but that isnt really the routers fault.)
