Tell us the (in your opinion) the most inconvenient problem when you shopping on mobile!

Feel free to talk or start from the following topics.

  1. What are the most inconvenient problem when you shopping on mobile
  2. Which mobile shopping app you have used? Which feature you want is not there?
  3. Do you want search and compare the price on a product across multiple websites(eg.EBay, Amazon, Groupon, Fab)

Thank you :-)

  • 1.What are the most inconvenient problem when you shopping on mobile

Entering in address or credit card information into the mobile site. Good use case for having Paypal on mobile sites.

I generally don't use my mobile to shop as it takes a lot longer than using a computer. But if I'm out of the house and there is a bargain, then have to do what it takes to get the deal.

    • Thanks Neil. I found this product, do you think it is useful or not? http://dealmagz.com/

        • My friend is doing that one while I'm not.

if you interested in mobile shopping, please help.

There is not much there other than a couple of generic screenshots.

There are loads of price comparison websites like StaticIce, Myshopping, Google Shopping etc so I'd be interested to know what Dealmagz would offer that sets it apart from those sites.

        • Thanks Neil.

The major difference from other price comparison websites is this one is only on mobile or tablet.

          Is that important to you?

        • Sorry, Neil.

My friend just told me he got some difference like these:
1.You can browse your favorite ecommerce sites on the mobile
2.You can bookmark you favorite product(And maybe wait for price drop?).

Do you need these feature better than compare price? :-)

        • +1

1.You can browse your favorite ecommerce sites on the mobile

Why wouldn't I just browse my favourite sites without using the app? Seems a bit pointless.

2.You can bookmark you favorite product(And maybe wait for price drop?).

Again, why wouldn't I just bookmark the link using my mobile.

The major difference from other price comparison websites is this one is only on mobile or tablet.

Most of the price comparison sites have mobile sites.

        • 1.Why wouldn't I just browse my favourite sites without using the app? Seems a bit pointless.

You don't feel pain like scotty below who feel hard to buy on Target mobile site?

2.Again, why wouldn't I just bookmark the link using my mobile.

You prefer to use you browser to bookmark your product?

I agree on your 3rd points.:_)

Are you sure this is for an 'assignment'?: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108063

    • Yes, initially I thought the survey is a good start for my assignment, but I didn't get that much response. So i think general discussion is a good way.

    1. try to buy a bargin in a hurry, takes too long to enter coupon code and register on site.
guess it's just slower then typing.

    2. compare site should be good, there's already one out there like shopbot and things but they dont pick up everything and give u a accurte pic of the cheapest you can buy an item.

ebay is usually good place to start trying to see if something is a good bargain. can't really compare to shopping site like amazon, well hard to search for specific item.

    • Good points, Huntress:-) Cheers.

What are the most inconvenient problem when you shopping on mobile

Site not working properly on mobile. I was trying to buy on Target.com.au the other day (while at one Target store, where the online price is cheaper than the in-store price). However the sign-in modal popup decided to stay in a position that's impossible to use.

Not to mention all the inputs needed to create an account, credit card info, etc.

Which mobile shopping app you have used? Which feature you want is not there?

None. Transactions should only be between me & the shop & the payment gateway. No more. Unless the app is an official app from the store (like eBay's), I don't think I'll use one. All shops should have good mobile site implementation anyway because most people land on the site via Google, rather than via an app.

Do you want search and compare the price on a product across multiple websites(eg.EBay, Amazon, Groupon, Fab)

Don't people already do their research on Google or OzBargain? They go straight to the site to complete the transaction. Again, a mobile site is crucial, rather than an app.

    • oh yes the dreaded popup, famous on woolies branded stores and has spread to wesfarmers too?
      ouch
generally bad web coding where the text box doesnt let you type, or hitting backspace create anarchy. prevalent on google play, ironically when trying to order a new phone.

now we've helped out OP, can he help me out at my work too?
      seems fair

  • Good point, Scotty.

    Happy to discuss.

But it is hard to ask all ecommerce sites to improve their mobile site within short period of time. I would imaging an app which allow me to shop different sites will be great.

Good point, what about an app can remember you ebay account. Then you can buy it directly within this app on ebay without login next time?

    Good point

what about an app can remember you ebay account…

Like this one and this one here? Yeah I'm already using them but only because I do frequent buying on eBay.

However I wouldn't want to install separate apps for all the shops out there.

what is brought? how can we bring any bargain on the mobile?

    • Currently, no. Especially in Australia.

But if there is one like http://dealmagz.com/ from my friend, will you use it? :-)

      • ?

        • I mean if you can browse bargains on the mobile.

    • I was hoping I was not the only one this bothered.

i wouldn't use my mobile to purchase anything - too small, too awkward, too insecure and it certainly wouldn't be through a 3rd party app

    • Ooops :-) opinion accepted but can't agree.

Because I don't open my PC at night any more.

    • +1

      +1 for mattgal
I don't think it's the matter for "too insecure" for me"
Yes for too awkward, I hate typing out my address every time I buy something, then again I'm using an iphone 4.. I'm just lazy I guess, more used to typing on a laptop than a little phone screen.
I also can't switch back and forth quickly to check there's enough money in my debit card account (or maybe that's just me, because other people might use CCs and not DCs, since I use a Debit card like a free prepaid credit card without the "top up" and "transaction" fees you get with the disposable prepaid credit cards.)

I would only use my mobile to purchase stuff if it is on quick-sale, i.e. no time to get to a comp, and stock running out (would be from a good deal).

      • Thanks cwongtech.

Could you describe more about quick sale? Which product do you purchased?

        • If its on OzBargain - like those one-hour-only promos.

    • If you are using a mobile browser and a SSL site, it's no less secure than a desktop browser. But it certainly is more awkward.

Certainly some sites like eBay cater for mobile shopping. Others don't and maybe they are missing out on parts of the market.

      • +1
Also because the screen isn't as big - the browsing experience is different, can't skim as many products as quickly as a larger screen (pc/laptop)

      • If you are using a mobile browser and a SSL site, it's no less secure than a desktop browser.

i strongly disagree. malware rules on mobile phones. it could easily be logging your keystrokes. i treat any mobile phone as insecure.

        • Stop installing this and that app of the day then.
