        • Hi mate

Do u know if this sim card cam be use for htc x8? I m not sure what is the username and password for the apn and the apn name

        • I'm using these settings:

          APN Name dodolns1
          APN Type Static
          Access Number *99#
          Authentication Protocol CHAP

        • i m using smartphone mate. anyone else able to use this sim card on iphone or other smartphone

        • I haven't but if anyone can please tell us how

  • ………. not received yet . Need for this weekend !!

  • Mine came yesterday.

  • My two sims (one for dad's motorola xoom & one for my nexus 7) arrived yesterday. Good deal.

  • have not receive anything

  • Have not received either. Sent email to Livingsocial support but got no response. May avoid deal with Livingsocial ever.

  • Mine arrived and when I tried to activate them with DODO they would not activate them ————— they said the sims cannot be used in any USB 3G mobile broadband stick. ..

Great another hassle — Just asked Living social for a refund of money paid..

    • What? So a "Mobile Broadband SIM" is supposed to be used in a handset??
Mine just arrived, will try to activate it, but seriously how would they know if it's in a dongle or not?

      • Actually, I think it's meant for USB dongles, that's the issue I'm having, I wanted to use it on my IPhone

  • any got it working on a smartphone?

  • Just received it this arvo. Huge activation problems, will not activate at all despite following instructions down to the letter "T" in the letter that came with it, still sorting the activation…

  • Just activated, I think dodo and living social could have done a better job in doing the activation, the instructions are useless and pointless, you still need to activate manually with a person on the phone and I think the default APN was all wrong it uses the Optus APN but it should be the dodo APN which does not come on by default, you have to do it manually, yet on a dodo mobile service it is ok to use the Optus APN, it's stupid.
However after this 3 gb is finished, top up is just as bad as telstra rates, you'd be silly to top up with them.
Top up rates after the 3 gb expires, charged per meg.
    300 MB Prepaid Card $10.00 30 days
    1GB Prepaid Card $20.00 60 days
    3GB Prepaid Card $40.00 60 days
    6GB Prepaid Card $70.00 90 days
    10GB Prepaid Card $99.00 180 days
    15GB Prepaid Card $139.00 365 days

  • Just received mine in the mail today, unfortunately, I didn't know that it was only for USB dongles

  • Recieved this afternoon. tried to activate, went through the step 1 as per its letter. When i put it in the dongle, and it could not direct me to the website as the letter said to complete the activation.

Tried to call dodo, customer service apparently knows nothing about the promotion and kept asking me for control number, then called technical support, 30 minutes waiting and have not been able to talk to anyone.

Not good with the activation process.

  • Could anyone successfully activated the SIM card summarize a brief guideline to follow?

  • Follow step 1 in the letter, adjust your APN to the dodo APN chances are it defauted to Optus APN, then if no work, call customer service and have them manually activate, give them the bar code numbers on the card that contain the sim. Wait 2 to 3 hours.

  • Wtf good is this I called dodo and activated one of the sims I bought, took 30 mins talking to a Filipino lady. Waited 8 hours still not working I then called them again to be told the sim only works in a modem not in a 3g tablet f…..g rubbish why wasn't this posted. I wasted $10 on 2 Sims.

How do I get a refund from livingsocial these Sims are useless to me without a modem and I'm not buying one just for this, how behind the times are they selling data Sims that don't work in 3g tablets.

  • +1

OK I got this thing working I selected optus wireless broadband in settings vpns all I changed was apn name to dodolns1 (that's a L) then turned data off then on again and now working. I'm using a Toshiba at100 3g.

  • So, does this sim only work in a dongle? not in a tablet?

Tried it on my Nexus 7, no luck. Is there anyone have success on a tablet?

    • Strange, stick the Sim card to my Galaxy S3, data flows in after registed through the automated activate service via phone. But swap it to Nexus 7, no luck.

      • No sweat, it works on Nexus 7 now. Silly me, the register webpage is under notification pane, which is on top left corner. I kept pull the status section doing setup, which is top right corner.

After I did the registration, all good, and smooth sailing.

Wooooo got it working. So here my first comment to help you guys out.
Step 1 make sure you call them up to fully activate your SIM. They should make you an account with a username and password when you are done. Wait half an hour.
Step 2 put the SIM into your phone then go to mobile network and manually choose yes Optus as your network operator.
Step 3 go to apn, make a new apn
    name Dodo
    APN dodolns1
save and make sure you tick the apn you just made.
Step 4 go to phone and dial *99#.
Step 5 you should see H/3g data showing up.
Work on my galaxy s i9000 and tab.

    Have a nice day

    • Thx! fix it following ur method~~ great

    • Thanks for that I have tried yours and works with no problem, save me a lots of time

  • +1

Activated mine using the automated telephone service and it was working within 15 minutes. Just remember to change the apn to dodolns1 and it will redirect you to a page where you register and activate your sim with your details.

  • Hey guys,

I have just checked with our team and there is no reason why these will not work in tablets. In order to get these working in a tablet, please following the settings located here

    http://www.dodo.com/top-right-navigation/support/technical-s…

    • Thanks for the update.

Just received mine but was going to activate on 11 sept as I will be away until then . Do you know if this is still within the valid activation period? Thanks

      • +1

The 30 day expiry is from receipt of the item so you will be fine if it arrived this week.

        • Hi rep

Can you help with using it in iPad. I have called support service n they activated it over the phone yesterday .
          Thanks

        • Hey,

Have you setup the ipad settings as described in the link above?

        • with the ipad i have only 3 options when opening APN settings

          APN
          Username
          Password

          That is all

  • 3 days and still no one can get my sim card up and running. tried a 3g USB dongle, 2 pocket wifi, 3 mobile phones and a tablet. It works in none of them. I spent close to 2 hours today talking to people at dodo and every single one of them said that it should be working soon.

I cant follow the paperwork because the sim wont even register with the network. No device it is in will allow it to register. Just comes up on the phones as "unable to connect to network"

I try the manual dial of *99# and it just says "mobile network not available"

tried all the other settings, deleted all the APN settings and started with none and readded just dodo, still nothing

tried chap, pap and none, nothing. Even tried optus APN, just in case… nope, nothing.

Ive given up, but i know someting i would like to do, and that is personally get all the people here who have sims they cant use, and insert these into who ever is in charge at living social and who ever orgainsed this at Dodo.

Between getting a data card working and porting a number over, why do telcos always seem to muff it up. Surely after all this time it should be easier to do than this???

Just wish i could neg this post and warn people about living social and Dodo…

Easiest solution if you want to use this sim on your iPhone or iPad.

    1. Do this on your iPhone or iPad
    2. Go to http://unlockit.co.nz/
    3. Click on Create APN
    4. Set Country = Australia AND Carrier = Dodo
    5. Click Create APN
    6. Click Install
    7. Now the sim should work, if not, try rebooting
    • Now thats a great suggestion. Thank you

      • You're welcome, I was searching all night for the easiest way to do this and I didn't want others to be stuck

        • Does it still work because when I try opening this website from my iPad, there is no Click on Create APN option

        • I haven't tested it on IPad, i assumed it was the same, sorry

        • +2

Here is the download for the DoDo Profile, try it and see if it works for you: https://www.unlockit.co.nz/cgi-bin/makecustom4.cgi?USERNAME=…

        • Thx Gorina, it works for my iphone, but doesnt work with htc x8 :)

        • +1

finally, I can use my htc x8, just fill the apn with dodolns1, don't fill the username and password, turn off and turn on again the smart phone

        • Thanks…Worked for my iPad too.. Cheers

    • Not a fix for me. Mine wont even connect to the network. APN settings or not, nothing works… And now it gets worse.. They sent me out a replacement sim and it is doing exactly the same thing. Does not matter what device it is in or what APN settings it uses. Even tried the wifes iphone, no dice…

Called them to ask them to check activation, and their answer..

"We are sorry, there is no record of that SIM in our system…"

So now they all go in the bin, but at least i can say, for what i paid, i got 2 really nice sim card adaptors out of it…

      • +1

HAHAHHA, sorry to hear about that, but, you're such an optimist, it's awesome

      • are you using iphone , smart phone or any other device?

  • No problem to activate it. Just follow the instruction in the letter: ring 13 DO DO, ask customer service to activate it for you; wait for a while (10 minutes in my case) and try the connection (with APN dodoln1). Not even need to fill personal details, the internet access works straight await.

  • How do I check my data usage?

  • I seems got problem using the sim card on the telstra MF70 dongle bought from previous deal. The dongle was unlocked, however it only finds vodafone or telstra network. Vodafone simcard will connect in this dongle but not dodo. I reckon it's a frequency problem and the modem supports only 850/2100 Mhz, while dodo only has 900 in my area. Now it's useless 3GB to me.

  • After big dramas and help of info on this site, finally got SIM working on dual sim Iphone 4.
BUT only got 1GB of data.
Arguments with DODO fell on deaf ears.
Nobody at DODO knows anything about the LivingSocial 3GB deal.
If you managed to get yours working, could be worth checking what data entitlement you have been given.

    • dual sim Iphone 4? what is this?

    • Mines working and I got 3GB. Stoked because I also got Yatango 1 month free deal as well. Should be sorted till late October and next promo comes along :)

  • You can "DUAL SIM" lots of smartphones by using an adapter that piggy backs the SIM slot connector and has a flat cable with a (another)SIM holder on the end. The cable is either hidden in a thin back cover for the Iphone or inside the case of (say) an S4 Samsung.
Look on Ebay for "dual sim adapter" for appropriate phone.
Most late OSs allow for SIM selection in Settings.
Most common for Iphones seems to be "Q-Sim"
Point of course is to either run two different carrier phone numbers (perhaps one for overseas) or have one for voice/txt etc and the other for data for internet use - hence the $5 3tb DODO. Saves using a dongle and wifi tethering.
Watch out though - it is either one or the other in comparison to some phones which can run dual simultaneously.
Hope that gives you the idea.

    • Thanks.

  • Anyone still waiting on delivery? I am!

    • Mine came ages ago. I would contact Living Social about a replacement if I were you

  • Breakthrough! Somebody listened.
Emailed copy of Living social 3gb 60 day deal to Dodo on Friday.
Got a phone message today to contact Cust Service and lo-and-behold when I logged in found I had my extra 1gb and the expiry date was correct.
(Working fine on Iphone 4 in case there were still some doubts)
    All good.
