RACQ -v- new car roadside assistance

Hi all just wondering if anyone has knows if new car roadside assistance is any good. I bought a new car last year and noticed only a few months ago that it came with roadside assistance. I have been paying to racq for a new years and not sure if I should renew or not. If I get my car serviced by Kia the roadside assistance continues as long as I service with them I think.

  • Ive found the complimentary service with Nissan to be fine, just the same as RACQ. It's provided by www.allianz.com.au/roadside-assistance/ in Metro Areas and the same RACQ guys/contractors in country areas.

The Kia one www.tr.im/48bbq seems similar. Remember that it lasts until you your car has it's 5 bday.

  • If you want to keep your RACQ membership (to retain discounts, years of membership, etc), renew to the cheaper "Lifestyle" membership which doesn't cover roadside assistance. Then when your new free Kia service expires, you can upgrade your RACQ membership plan (NRMA in NSW have a similar membership called "Club Care" which I switched to when I bought a new car).

    • or if you already have other insurance through them then just cancel :)

      • If they ever demutualise then years of membership will count towards shares issued. I think that happened in another state and with AMP. It's a big if though.

  • Thanks everyone, decided just to drop the RACQ
