  • wait for the Panasonic FZ70 with 20-1200mm F2.8-5.9 zoom? With the Panasonic 1.7X TC that's 2040mm, pretty crazy.

    http://www.dpreview.com/news/2013/07/18/Panasonic-announces-…

    Pre-order USD399 on Amazon.

  • +1

Dont wait for the FZ 70. The constant 2.8 aperture alone is worth the asking price. Thanks OP. Been looking at one of these for a while.

  • The FZ200 was announced last July so presumably its replacement will be announced (not shipped) soon.

The FZ70 is the cheaper version (albeit with an amazing zoom).

I love my Lumix (got an older FZ28) and would love to upgrade it.

  • Nice deal for a constant f2.8 leica lens unit. So tempting…must not spend tax refund so soon…

  • ~ AUD 580 delivered from amazon.co.uk (tax is deducted at checkout)
    Slightly cheaper with this store.

  • I have this camera and its a very capable unit, although jpeg compression is often mentioned as being a little heavy handed. It has not received any firmware updates in the time its been out which is unusual.

The 1080p 50FPS mode is very cool (particulary if you are into stuff like Twixtor to slow it down even further), but I had more fun with the 720p 100FPS mode as its easy, did this little test a few months back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49251xlvpXI

Given that a 3 year warranty is being offered Im assuming its a grey import and the warranty is via the seller.

I have a feeling its about to be superceded by FZ250, but no doubt that camera will be quite pricey (will likely have the same 1200mm zoom as the FZ70 (although whether they can keep the constant F2.8 is the question.) 200mm at the wide end would be very nice though.

Makes quite a good travel camera as its relatively light and not too bulky given its great lens range.

  • I have been looking at the FZ200 recently. Apparently Panasonic replied to someone's request about FZ250 by saying it wouldn't be this year. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/51861115

  • This camera has good zoom, the lens is not interchangeable is it?
