KMART Australia- Hobbit Blu-Ray + DVD + UV (Ultraviolet) $16 - Receipt Attached

310

Kmart is selling the new movie Hobbit blu-ray + DVD + UV for $16!

Cheapest in Australia market today. But not sure how long this price will last. So be quick if you want one sooner!

Look for stickers with $16. Otherwise they will scan $25, the staff counters see the price sticker to place.

Edit: I have pictured the receipt instead, for price-matching purposes.

  • Picked up the 3D/2D/UV copy at JB for $15.98 the other week, but its jumped back to $24.98, so definitely a good price for this set.

    • Does this version come with 3D also?

tl;dr - Essentially a digital version of the movie.

UltraViolet is a free, cloud-based digital rights collection that gives you greater flexibility with how and where you watch the movies and TV shows that you purchase. When you buy a movie or TV show from a participating retailer, it's automatically added to your UltraViolet Collection and you have options to stream it over the Internet and/or download it for offline viewing to a variety of connected devices. Because UltraViolet offers so many viewing choices, you have greater freedom to choose where you want to watch - on a mobile device, computer, television, game console, etc.

    • There is a story about Ultraviolet recently

      http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/computers/blogs/gadget…

After reading this plus some other sources, I don't quite like it.

Another aspect of it is the download may not necessarily in HD even if you have already purchased the BluRay version. It may have issues with Itunes from what I have been reading…

Kudos to Disney for refusing to join in.

    • I'd much rather an iTunes copy :/ No way would I bother with anything else.

Problem with itunes is you really need an AppleTV to watch it. Since getting Unblock-us I've joined Vudu (which you can use on multiple devices) and managed to use all my US Ultraviolet codes through it.

Vudu also has a nifty Bluray/DVD to digital service so if you own the movie on disc, for $1 (but you need to buy 10 at that price) you can get the digital rights for it.

This way I can watch Vudu via my Roku and PS3 (although I also have an AppleTV but that's besides the point).

Note: the inevitable Extended Edition has just been officially announced for stateside, due November 5th: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/07/31/nearly-nine-hours-of-… in case that sways anyone. I didn't mind The Hobbit but I can hardly bare the thought of NINE HOURS of extras devoted to it - still, some people's mileage may vary ;)

Wow, 9 hours. Talk about milking the sacred cow dry.

The hobbit is only a 300-odd page story. 2 movies, probably 2 x 9 hour extended cut blu-rays… and then they get to release the ULTIMATE TOLKIEN BLU-RAY COLLECTORS EDITION PACK, containing all 15 hours from the original Jackson films, 400 hours of previously cut unseen footage, 935 hours of behind the scenes and making of…

It's 3 movies, you'll be pleased to know!

      • If you're like me, I actually enjoy the making of documentaries of movies as much as the movie itself, and sometimes more. The documentaries that come with the extended versions of the LOTR trilogy are absolutely top notch, and would purchase the extended version of The Hobbit for access to documentaries of a similar standard. I'd gladly pay a bit more for copies of them.

  • What store? If it scans at $25, then the storeworker must have made a mistake with the pricing gun. Wouldnt be a national price at all.

    • I got it at northcote plaza, vic.

    • Have a receipt pictured. you can try price-matching! :)

The Hobbit Its a poor excuse for a movie!
    I loved the LOTR's though.

  • So how long extra is the extended version going to be?
