Don't forget to brush up on your Photoshop skills on Udemy and to get your free copy of Photoshop here!

  • not sure what you were expecting but here are a few i've come up with in a few minutes.

Does it need the ozbargain logo in it?

    • Probably should mention OzBargain (perhaps a speech bubble). Also, naming the spokesperson and perhaps why they would be a good spokesperson. I'm not sure who the 3rd picture is.

I'll clear it up in the description.

  • +64

    Ok, so here's my entry;

    • Scrooge McDuck.
    • He's well known for his OzBargain-like traits. Retro is in. He appeals to Gen X/Y via childhood memories. He isn't going to get caught by the paparazzi in some bizarre situation involving vodka, tennis balls and a prostitute of ambiguous gender. What more could you want in a spokesperson?
    • Yeah, I'd say it's pretty clear.

    Original artwork credit here; http://phantom-akiko.deviantart.com/art/Scrooge-McDuck-Good-…
(and I stole the OzBargain logo off the FB page).

    That was fun :)

    • this one's great! looks professional :)

    • You're gonna win; yours is the most professional…

      • Haha…thanks!

    • +1

Um, why wasn't I notified about this?

  • +7

    And another;

    - Larry Emdur (Price is Right guy)
    - He's all about the price being right. His skin colour matches your logo. Well known but probably still a fairly cheap celebrity (kinda like COTD guy) so you could probably afford him! Who could resist that hairy chest.
    - done.

    Pic Source; http://www.henrythornton.com/article.asp?article_id=6515

    • I like Scrooge better

      • Me too…but have been having fun doing these :)

  • +6

    Troy McClure

"Hi, I'm actor Troy McClure. You might remember me from such OzBargain deals as "Buy One Get One Free Colonoscopy" and "Free Rat Poison - strawberry or cinnamon flavour". Today, I'm going to tell you about this wonderful deal…."

    • +4
    • oh yeah, why Troy McClure? why not. he is shameless. he sees what he wants and goes for it with out caring what others think. he usually gets what he wants. just like the ozbargainer whom sets their sights on what they want and then they go out and acquire it by finding the most cost effective method. Besides, Tory McClure peddles a lot of stuff and whilst some of it is interesting and appeals to many some is bazaar and wanted by very few. A lot like ozbargain posts

      • +1

Phil Hartman (voice of Troy McClure) is no longer with us :(. Might be hard to get a voice sample saying OzBargain.

  • +12

Gerry Harvey for his recognition of our professionalism in OzBargaining.

    • I couldn't stop laughing

  • Old Spice!
Old Spice possesses great clarity and stage presence when he whips up that sexy ad which could make any woman lust and their husbands jealous.

  • I'm crap with art. But someone should do one with Al Bundy.

Promotion-wise, for 'Catch of the Day', I'm sure that Jason Alexander - also no doubt happy for any cross-promotion for his upcoming Aussie ventures - constitutes a 'big fish'. However, in the context of a promo for this here site (albeit maybe just for a bit of fun), you really just can't ignore the 'Oz' in 'OzBargain'.

This is just off the top of my head, and I choose not to think about it anymore after this…
If this does get the nod I would like the prize to go to the person who fleshes it out best visually.

Series of panels in block-form (real or cartoon-like) featuring various Australian marsupials with (real or 'modified') taxonomy names (think the pursuit freeze-frames from the Road Runner cartoons) . Last panel (definitely cartoony) featuring…

Look, a kangaroo is the obvious choice - but all marsupials - be they 'Oz-icus Bargain-iferous' or not - have pouches into which bargains can be stuffed!
      Added/tag line options are endless.
Don't even get me started on that!!

Be it presented in the static multiple-image block-panel form mentioned, or as a quick online slideshow with appropriate sound effect - or as a simple GIF - I think the basic idea has potential.

    • I think my idea was skewed - and whether drunk from a camera lens mug or not - too many marsupials may spoileth the broth!
Kogan is perfect for the job!!

    Ok, I'm in.

Introducing Phil Dunphy, from Modern Family - no, you're thinking of Sofia Vergara…..oh, I see… .. are you back with me now?

So Phil, down to earth, like-able, can put his foot in it at times, friendly - pretty much what OzBargain is all about..

I thought a picture might demonstrate it a little better.

    • +1

Why the Face? always makes me laugh.

  • +24

How about a picture of jv?

  • Hi Neil, just to clarify, can I upload multiple pics e.g. Kogan,Harvey… and you'll judge all those. (I know 1 prize PP:)??

    • Yep

1 prize per person but feel free to submit multiple entries.

      • Also instead of making a picture, could we modify the T&C's so that we could create a TV advertisement??
I would only submit 1 video:)

        • For simplicity of this contest, we'll stick to images. We just did a video contest.

        • Ok, thanks.Have already done a video, but will put up only for show&tell

    Fry from Futurama.

Makes a great spokesperson thanks to the popular meme. I mean is there really any reason why he wouldn't make a good spokesperson? :p

    • Jessica Simpson
    • We all have our 'blonde moments' where we get caught up in the frenzy of a 'bargain' and end up buying 53 packets of hair wax, 8 frying pans, 6 iPhone screen covers (when we have a Nokia) and a four-slice toaster (just to qualify for free postage). Jessica represents us in those moments…no time to think, just get in before the items get ozBargained by some other person desperately requiring 53 packets of hair wax. She also, quite conveniently, matches the OzBargain colour scheme :)

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work we go…just a typical day in the OzBargain office…?

    My quick one:

    • Ozzy Osbourne
    • This is a perfect opportunity to associate a website to a famous musician! Also great for people looking for a thrill on the Bargain Train, so hop on-board!
    • Errr… yeah the logo says it all

  • Illegal, but interesting.

  • Ozbargain'D Submission
    Spokesperson: Eugene Harold Krabs
Spokesperson Choice: He's always been frugal with his money, I felt the character epitomised the purpose of this site.

This one below is just a concept, created after this post
    OZBargain Street Fighters
The basic premise is that we are a community of Bargain Fighters, with the catchphrase being that we fight for the bargains, fight to survive.

    Derek Zoolander aka (ben stiller)
He'd make a good representative as this popular quote from ozbargainers would fit in his chain of logic.

    Meanwhile at professionals HQ….

  • How about Cosmo Kramer or even Newman…

    • +1

Well I was actually going to say someone with the time and skill should do one with the Soup Nazi and say something like "No Full Price for You" or something.

  • How about Broden the original bad boy of Ozbargain?

  • +9

I think the pair from "The Castle". They are oz and they love a bargain (always buying off trading post).

    "Tell em they're dreamin'"

    Love that movie

  • Surely Fagin from Oliver Twist should be the OzB spokesperson. After all, you've got to pick a pocket or two.

  • I vote jv for president of Ozbargain

    • +14

      I don't.

  • Lindsay Lohan - famous worldwide for picking up a bargain.

No negs for my speeling, please.

So after years of delegation, I have chosen Billy Brownless, EX Geelong player and Superstar

    Please name the spokesperson.

    Billy Brownless

Please tell us why the spokesperson would be good for OzBargain.

He is an Aussie, and he is one funny bugga!
He would bring a lot of traffic to the site, because he is well known and as he is doing the Famers Union Iced Coffee ads, making advertisements FUN!

Please view my 5 PDF's here:)

Congrats to the mods for running a wonderful comp!!
Good luck to everyone else entered:)

    • Came here innocently clicking the links thinking it was G-rated, gotta say, that is quite a good mashup you created.

      • Thanks mate, I'm pretty handy on the ol'computers:)
Was going to edit and say it's PG, but i can't seem to edit it!?!?

    Hi all,

Long time bargain-hunter, first time poster here. Here's my submission, I had fun with it:

    Please name the spokesperson.

    • Danny Ocean's "Eleven"

Please tell us why the spokesperson would be good for OzBargain.

    • Because when you want a job done right, you send in the professionals!

    Source image: http://image.toutlecine.com/photos/o/c/e/ocean-s-eleven-visa…

    • Very nice design, almost mistook it for the real movie poster. Also +1 because I just finished watching this film and I happened upon your post.

      • Thanks. I tried to keep the original theme but took a few liberties with the tag line and credits

        • All I could think of is changing the characters to jv, Broden, WNK, easternculture and Scotty (may need photos first haha). Pretty good effort by the way!

  • Stuff going to the effort to make a picture, but the perfect spokesman for OzBargain would be David Hughes (Hughesy)… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Hughes

OZ… has to be an aussie, but an aussie with a strong accent to punch out the second bit 'properly'…. BARGAIN.
I could just imagine Hughesy doing an ad for OzBargain on TV- would be bloody perfect.

(Catchoftheday missed the mark with their standup option imo, and OzBargain being a competitor could show'em how its done)

  • "I'll have five Old Crows thanks"

    Spokesperson - Brendalee Doel

This was derived from the 2003 Cougar Bourbon ad on TV at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlDXTc8IJ7c.
You have all good intentions to buy something else, however when you visit OzBargain an impulse purchase can occur ;)

    Source image: http://i.imgur.com/xiiXhXF.jpg

    • +1

I wonder if he got that chain cheap off OzBargain? :p

      • Apparently from Vistaprint free promotional item with free shipping.

        • +1

It's closed now but you missed his line! It was begging for…

I pity the fool who pays full price

  • Stephen Dank

    1) He's trending hard at the moment on all forms of media.
    2) Understands the cost of being sensible about purchases.
    3) Why not ;)

  • edit: ignore

  • Here is my attempt Colour is appropriate too :)

  • Here's a quick one :)

    • Spokesperson(s) are Matt Damon (Donny in Eurotrip) and OzB's creator Scotty

    • Matt Damon sings the song "Scotty Doesn't Know" in the film Eurotrip. Scotty created OzB.

Name: Ron Burgundy (from the movie Anchorman)

Why? He would make a great spokesperson for OzBargain because he has a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. He's more man than the rest of us and he'll promote OzBargain real good; he is an anchorman after all! Plus he looks good, I mean really good. Come see how good he looks: http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/79089/17706/ozb1.jpg

  • Can I submit photo of myself? People always say im cheap, when they look at me.

    Bob Katter
He might not be a fan of free trade, but he does look out for small Australian businesses.

  • Hello. Here is my pathetic mspaint attempt. Enjoy :)

    Bill Gates
Whilst accused and well, proven to be anti-competitive back in the day, Bill has always seemed to be smart with his money (he saved a ton by not hiring a fashion consultant). He is now a philanthropist sharing the wealth and still loves to shop at the American equivalent to Lowes

  • I really only just did this one for fun. There's no spokesperson or justification, just an isometric city with a userbar overlay.

    Here's my second submission

  • And another one. No spokesperson and there is a white border which you can't see as it's shown against the white page. Custom OzBargain logo.

For future reference, or if anyone would like to re-create the logo used in this design, please feel free to contact me.

My choice is Ingvar Kamprad (Owner of IKEA).

    1) He owns IKEA who generally provide pretty good value (especially the restaurant).
    2) He looks like the kinda guy who would be after a bargain.
    3) He flies economy and used to drive a 15 year old volvo
    4) Other reasons here: http://curbed.com/archives/2013/03/29/the-7-best-pennypinchi…
    5) Look he's standing outside a massive ozbargain: http://i.imgur.com/uWxFXl3.jpg (original image: http://mybrandman.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/ingvar-kamprad…)
