Nice offer +ve given. Hope to see many more from you.

EDIT: I'm a little bit suspicious because although you say you're a long time reader, you've just registered 50 minutes ago. Secondly the site you listed is different from the main CommSec site I am directed to from the main CBA website (listed below):

Redirection from CBA main site: https://www.comsec.com.au/default.aspx
    Your site: www.commsec.info

I'm even more suspicious as it seems to use a .info domain rather than a .com.au

This wouldn't happen to be a phishing website?

    • if you go to the CBA main site and click on the "Open a commsec account! see how" it redirects you to >> http://www.commsec.info/bettertogether/welcome.aspx

so the .info domain seems legit

    • the .info is weird, but as soon as you click signup it takes you to the normal commsec site, which has a verisign certificate for commonwealth bank

I'm unable to re-edit my original post again but I can confirm this is infact a genuine offer. Please don't blame me for my suspicions, but I think it's good to be alert when it comes to financial matters. Having said that this is a genuine offer as listed by the posters above and I've even called the bank to confirm.

Having said that, the offer itself is pretty decent so yeah, thank you for bringing it to my attention and welcome to ozbargain. Sorry for doubting you (or if I offended you).

      • no worries at all mate, i've really enjoyed reading everything on this site for the last 6 months or so. thanks again to all those that have clicked +

  • you can browse this site without registering, ive never needed to do so until i saw this offer that i thought others might like. If anyone alredy has a commsec account you can see the link to this page on the left hand side in the recent news section. I can't vouch for the integrity of the data on commsecs website obviously. just hope that some find it useful

  • yes, this deal is legit.

however, most the times etrade or comsec have the "up to $600 brokerage free" deal, its only free for first 30-60 days only. I am not sure about this time. Unless you trade very often, it might not be as great a bargain as you think.

    • the brokerage expires 30 September 2009

Most people won't actually get $600 of brokerage for free. The only way to use up the full $600 is to do 12 trades of exactly $50,000.

If your trades are less than $10,000 the most you can get out of this offer is $239.40.

  • can existing customer enjoy the free brokerage?
can I just close the account then open it? :)

  • Hmmm … sounds good if you want to try a little day-trading. What could possibly go wrong?

  • I am not advocating trading in the market, but, does the following sound correct:
    - if you have this account
    - and you do wish to place trades before 30 Sept 2009
    - and you have not lost your account login details
    - you could possibly get some free trades?
