Not bad at all from a major retailer! I picked mine up a while back for $160ish when dealsdirect was offering 30% off their price :) My brother wants one as well and I haven't found a price as cheap as this since!

anyone know where the best place to buy the Dyson DC 44 with the wand?

Been looking at seems cheapest price is good guys are $458

    • +1

I paid $410 for DC44 at goodguys a month ago.

      • thanks bill, i'll go around and see how good my haggling skills are at the usual places (GG, HN)

        • So do I..

    • I know that Costco had handheld dysons at one stage

    • Masters Chullora had them for $447, but this is different to their price on the website…

    • Don't these often come up on OzBargain from Amazon Germany or Amazon Spain?

      • +1

I wouldn't buy these overseas, mine has failed twice; once it was a bad battery, the second time it was the motor. Both times repaired under warranty.

        • i would definitely buy from amazon, if their prices are good. i get better serves from amazon than many local ones.

        • I bought a DC44 from Amazon and the battery failed after 6 months. I've just paid $80 for a new battery to be shipped. The warranty is invalid as soon as you use the vacuum in Australia if you buy from overseas.

    • Seems like the cheapest around at the moment is still above the 400 mark. I hear a new model: "hard" is coming out soon, so that might push down the dc44 price, and ive been trying to wait for this, but only time will tell.
Might try my luck at good guys this weekend too. See if I can get a decent deal on a dc44

      • never heard of this "Hard" model, but after a google search it seems to be different enough that it shouldn't bring down the cost of the DC44. Besides i'd probably rather have the powered bristle head then the mop head.

      • Seems like their new cash cow - selling disposable "wet wipes". Good idea in theory, but no thanks.

Harvey Norman have 10% cash back so you'd effectively get it for $421 if you can't find a price match anywhere. Cash back only for next couple of days

      • thanks for that, will be buying from HN

    • rather pay same price at costco and get their unbeatable warranty.

      • unfortunately for me and many others we don't have membership, and if we factor that cost in then its more expensive then the HN price.

Whats this unbeatable warranty you speak off regarding costco? I was gonna put this on my gold credit card to get an extra year warranty on top of the standard 1 year warranty

      • Be careful about their warranty.

Melbourne Docklands now has a new sign saying "30 days".

    • I was looking at buying one today too.
      Been searching everywehre….

Harvey norman now have 10% cashback on the DC44 and heaps others.

Grab it now…would work out to be around 420 something I guess

      • also you can get a $5 discount coupon if you sign up to their mailing list, brings the price down to $416.70 if you opt to pick it up in store.

  • Does anyone have any first hand experience with these?

    • Yep, they've got really good suction and can take all the usual Dyson accessories if you've already got a bigger one. Battery life is OK for small jobs but you wouldn't want to do a whole house with one.

  • Masters will beat it by 10%, which makes it $180

    • code: FATHER0913 for $10 OFF

    = $170

    • +5

they don't take 10% off appliances they only match, I've tried to do it with dysons before

    • Can you pricematch online to get that $10 off? or can you use that code at the store?

Its a very expensive hand held portable duster vac where you'd use it to vacuum the car and clean up small messes around the house.

I've personally got the DC44 animal which is similar, but more expensive (I paid $380 for a US import over amazon)- reason being it is actually a full replacement for a vacuum cleaner instead of just being a glorified duster vac. It's got the extension stick with motorised head to pick up animal fur and crazy suction power and additional run time of up to 20minutes. (5 minutes more than DC34)

But for $200 if you've got the cash to splash it's actually quite a powerful portable duster and would be very handy to use, just dont expect it to replace a proper vacuum like a DC44 can.

    • so with the DC44 you can detach the extension stick? to make it like the DC34?

      • Yes you can.

      • Thats right, and it comes with two motorised brush heads - one for floor and another smaller one for upholstery like couches and car seats.

        • thanks for that, was planning to get a dyson vaccum for sometime now. If I'm going to fork money out, might as well spend abit more for versatility

I just rang up Masters …

They do price match on appliances but they won't take the further 10% off to beat it ….. no point going there really.
Also the father's day special code won't work until 28th of August.

For those who missed it. Msster's price is 245, with 25 off code and wishcard can be 209. Good luck.

    • what's this 25 off code?

      • sign up for masters online and get a $25 off voucher.

    • How do you get a discount with a wish giftcard?

(Also, no Dyson stock at Target Broadmeadows VIC)

      • Entertainment book, some membership benefit, ING, etc.

  • hi Guys, recently bought a new place with 2 bed room have carpet and rest of the house is all tiles, is this handheld dyson good enought to use? or should i better of getting a dc39, i dont have pet now but thinking getting one later, should i buy the animal type?

    • IMO, if you intend on vacuuming a 2bdr home you should grab a full size model. No need to worry about battery dying on you half way through or having to empty the bin until you're done.

I have a dog that sheds hair like crazy and the Turbine heads are amazing at getting the hair off carpet and furniture. The difference between DC39 Allergy and Animal is a mini turbine head and a swivel hard floor tool - they both come with the Turbine head.

Maybe try the DC39 Allergy before splashing for the DC39 Animal and purchase the other tools down the track if you find it necessary. Turbine head has been more than sufficient for my needs, I did pick up a mini-turbine head, but it only gets used with the DC34 when cleaning the car.

  • Managed to get pricebeat ($199) at Good Guys Cannington. Worth a try in case they didn't realise the Target one is now expired.

You finally made a comment!, well done on your post! :)

      • Thanks haz
        Have a nice evening

  • Darnit! I got mine for $245. Good deal.

  • is there a place where i can see the target one to pricematch? or is there any left in sydney?

  • Would anyone happen to have a copy of the online ad or paper ad for the $200 deal at target?
I'd like to try and use my "Credit Card Price Match" guarantee to see if I can still get one for the same price.
I need to produce evidence of the advertisement to qualify.

    • Was it advertised in a catalogue? If so, then Lasoo… otherwise your only bet would be to go to the State Library and pore through the archives for the dates around when the deal was first posted :-)
