This is pretty much the standard base price for SYD <> AVV. Take this one regularly.

  • How do you get a standard base price for flights like Syd to Mel (Avalon) for $35 .
Normal sale price is around $50, sometimes dropping to about $30 on occasional sales

Just searching a random date 10th to 12th Sept 2013, low fares are $35.

This post/special is not much of a special deal, and Tiger's standard low fares are $39.95 for Syd to/from Mel.

There are some good specials such as $9 fares that are worth getting when Jetstar does these specials for Syd to Mel.

  • It has to be from the same airport (to price match), doesn't it?

  • hijacking the thread for some advice.. i'm looking to book some fares from Syd to Auckland in late nov. Jetstar has some $240 return at the moment, do they usually come cheaper or is that as good as it gets? cheers

  • Does any1 know the parking rates at Avalon for 3 days?

since tiger sold to virgin, we get less cheap air fare promo from tiger :(

I haven't seen $9 sale from Tiger for a while. Actually, I am quite happy with $29.90 Sydney-melbourne, but haven't seen that for a while.

      • and if you read t&c from jetstar for their price beat guarantee "http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/what-we-offer/our-guarantees/price-beat-guarantee"
seems this price beat will be finish soon either "This promotion is valid for flight bookings made up to and including 31 December 2013."

not a good news, it remind me in early 2000, before virgin exist, just qantas and ansett, minimum fare sydney - melbourne is $100.

tiger is the real deal breaker, unfortunately since they grounded in 2011, seems we get less deal now :(

And for a full service airline in and out of MEL (and not AVV), the $100 mark is still the norm, with $89 popping up every now and then.

        • They change the end date every 6 months

This price is very normal. Remember looking at JetStar a while ago, Avalon-Sydney and was the same price. Cannot see the bargain…

I'd have to agree. Normal pricing is $49 and $35 comes around very frequently sometimes it's not even mentioned as a sale fare or on the sale fare list and appears when you search. $29 or under is more bargain worthy.

haha thanks for the neg losers who have no idea about this topic :)

Yep - $35 has been Jetstar's Syd-Avalon base fare for a while now.

Bus Avalon-City is about $22, unless they have increased it recently, and it's a hassle and takes time.

    • it is not worth it if you fly to avalon if you lived in the eastern suburb or melb city. the time and cost is more than what you save on the fare to avalon :)

        Huh?

        • +3

He means the savings are eaten away once you factor in the cost of getting to AVV from Eastern Suburbs or Melbourne City.

        • -2

          I understood that part

it is not worth it if you fly to avalon if you lived in the eastern suburb or melb city

          that is what I don't understand…
