Just a shame that Maglites dont really compare these days to other XM fitted torches.

They do work well as a baton though for crunching skulls.

    • True, but I believe you can get drop-in LED replacements for the "high power" krypton bulbs.

And for crunching skulls, the 6xD maglites can't be beat.

      • meroveus is correct, you can put a drop-in LED in the old Maglite's to make them respectable in terms of producing light.

But even after doing so, the old Maglite's don't compare to other torches like LED Lensers etc (which in turn is more expensive).

To sum it up: The Maglite's are good for recreational purposes only. If you need something to produce a good amount of light, spend more and get something which produces a higher lumens.

source: 10 years working in the Security industry, used to have a Maglite, replaced the incandescent bulb with a LED (drop-in). After a while, upgraded to a P17 LED Lenser.

        • Im already talking about the LED models, as is this one thats currently on sale. They havent sold 'traditional' globe maglights for some time now.

I think Bunning selling this price for aged already, even put the extra battery in still not really a different.
Why bother with COTD when you can buy from local shop with much better service?

Do you know what price Bunnings is selling it for? I can't see it listed on their website?

    • really? where?

Service from Bunnings!?!?! By service do you mean take your money and give you a receipt?

Service from Bunnings!?!?! By service do you mean take your money and give you a receipt?

which yet is still FAR better than Con Of The Day……..

        • ha exactly. I'll go buy at bunnings if i get the same deal, because by service, i personally considering being able to come back any time for refund or trade or replacement is value.

      • and when returning/refunding a good, those young boys could refund the wrong amount….if that's what they called "service"

  • Is that the same as this on Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IXAJVY/

If so, it's only $37.65 shipped which is the everyday price so I don't see how this is a deal.

  • 3-D? I thought it needs at least 4 or 5 Ds to be fully functioning, otherwise it's not enough heavy and long.

    —Edit—
Oh so it does come with 4 D batteries. But I would prefer to pay the more reputable Amazon if the prices are similar.

  • Was hoping it was a 4D as my original mag light had battery cap lock tight and I can't replace the batteries.

  • Not too bad with free batteries as they are about $10 alone.

  • Can get a 5-D from Amazon for $30 but the batteries will cost you more than that.

  • I have a couple of these, and bought the LED kits for very little from eBay.

I use rechargeable AAs with plastic "D" shells, and they last for ages.
