How does one purchase a watch if the site can't handle any load….

    • Cheap and nasty hosting is the blame :)

I'm guessing they won't have that many in stock.

Meanwhile, I'm reading the manual to kill some time…

  • Got it, ordering from the new website. Thanks rep!

  • This might be a silly questions. But are they genuine products, not counterfeit? Just want to be sure and careful when the price sounds too good to be true, especially no other retailers, even US & Europe online ones, do not have such a good offer.

    • @ OP

This is my question too mate.

    I don't get it… it looks hideous.

    • +5

      They're substance over style.

G-Shocks are some of the very few watches that have been certified for use in outer space by NASA.

US Delta operators/Special Forces are officially issued them.

Go watch Casio's G-Shock torture tests on Youtube; you'll see what their appeal is.
      They're a byword for ruggedness.

And lastly, not all G-Shocks look so garish. There are literally hundreds of models; something for everyone.

      • yes but you're not going into space, are you?

    • +1

That is part of the appeal

    Noob question:

My father is 50 years old, was wondering if it was suitable for his age?

    • +1

      Buy it regret later

    • -1

      How is his eye sight?

    • +6

He's too old, buy him a Sun Dial instead…

      • wow, you are so so funny…

    • +1

If he's a gadget type of guy save some pennies and get him a titanium Pro Trek (~$200). He'll love ya like ya were one his own. Great watch, good features, had one for a decade and still looks almost new.

      • Thank you :)

  • FINALLY!

Thankyou Globe. Thanks for nothing Skateshop. (Kidding)

Question: Will it take longer to arrive from Globe? Are they shipping it directly from the US?

    • think globe.tv are in South Melbourne

  • Cheers, grabbed one from Globe site.

  • -2

Is this in fasion at the moment? like… for real? Seriously? that watch is hideous. I don't care about fasion trens when they are that gross.

    Not 1984, I'm not 6.

    • +9

What is it with people on this site bagging G-Shocks?

They're not for your 1PM jerk-off lunch meetings at Ernst & Young obviously… go drop several grand on a Breitling that scratches, scuffs, breaks and gets water inside it when you look at it funny.

Some of us like to forget we're wearing them on our wrist, which you can confidently do with a G-Shock. This thing is solar-powered and will probably outlast the life of an average house pet at a minimum.

  • Are these still made in Japan?

    • +1

      Depends on the model/year/batch.

The majority now are either cased in Thailand, Malaysia or Japan (used to be Korea I think as well) and as someone who's owned G-Shocks made in both Thailand & Japan, there's really no difference (I initially had my reservations too, but it's been several years now and my Thailand-cased watches are holding up just as well as the Japanese ones). It's much a discussed topic on watch forums in general and the consensus from most Casio enthusiasts is that there's no discernible difference in quality.

  • +2

Grabbed the chance to give myself a gift on Father's Day, even I don't have any children yet. Thanks, OP!

  • Can I confirm rep that my order was processed? Your order # is: 100000325.

It didn't show the full charge (only $50)so I think it may be in error? I'm happy to transfer the additional $10 for delivery if you send me a pay request through to paypal

  • +1

tried for 2 hours to get through check out jsut to end up with 'sold out' message.
    Neg for wasting my time

    • Agreed. It's so frustrating when you visit multiple websites only to have them both throw errors due to the load. If you are going to run a promo like this, make sure your website infrastructure can handle the requests or you will end up annoying a range of potential customers.

      • apologies that we didn't anticipate the volume of OB, if you were to contact the customer service team during the event I am sure they would be happy to help you out.
