I have one. Use it almost every day. I use it with a Samsung LCD 42" TV. In comparison with the TV's built in speakers it is a huge upgrade. However for $100 you arent going to get much bang or boom for your buck. Especially when comparing it to a true surround sound system. However if you only have $100 to spend, you dont like running wires to back speakers and you will be using it in a small room, this thing more than does the job.

  • Does it have a digital input or is it just analog?

    • It has both.

      • Sold! Actually it has both flavours of digital input - toslink and coax.

        • And a trap for young players… Seems you have to press either the coax or optical button on the remote for it to actually work. Just pressing the source button for digital on the bar itself didn't work for my toslink connection from the TV.

Sound is actually pretty damn good for 100 bux, and infinitely better than the crappy LCD TV speakers.

    • It supports Dolby Digital. I would have got one… wha… price is back up to $199 after 3 hours???

  • I want to know if you can use the TV remote to turn it on/off, I would hate to have another remote just for watching TV.
    Does anyone know ?

It has a small separate remote to operate the soundbar.

      • Thanks for that, I looked at one that would learn the on/off of the TV. I would not get one without this feature

        • My current sub (mission ms10) goes into low power standby after 30 minutes of no sound signal. Then comes on automatically when sound signal returns (so you miss the first 0.25 seconds of the sound.

Its an old sub, so I'd be surprised if this sound bar thingo didn't do something similar.

        • this one also automatic turned off after no sound for 10 min(Probably around that time)

  • Does it come with leads?

    • From the Amazon reviews (link provided above by andy19363) it does not seem to include any leads.

    • no cable, you should but from Ebay and its cheap

  • Damn, bought this about 2 month back at $160. Personally I think this is a good cheap alternative to 5.1 surround sound system. But do keep in mind to buy an additional optical cable for extra clarity! You can pick one up on ebay for about $5 for a good one :)

    Hey what the…

DSE is no longer offering PayPal?

    • Yeah thats what put me off buying this online ill just drop in tomorrow instore instead…

      • Why? Like giving commission to PayPal/eBay? I don't blame then for no longer offering it.

        • Why?

          One click ordering.
No having to create an "account".
No having to give out CC details.
No having to manually enter your address.
Easy refunds when you get stitched up.
          etc.

Unless you like doing all those things, over and over again?

      • But the website does take Gift Cards. If you belong to an Auto club (e.g. RAC) you can purchase Woolies Gift Cards for 5% off their face value.

I used one to buy this soundbar - so it ended up costing me basically $94. Just have to enter the card number and it's PIN to complete the purchase.

The giftcards can be used in Woolies/DSE/Big W/Masters etc.

  • Back to $199 online

    • It does have $199 on the web page, but when you add it to the cart it comes up $99.

      • shhh don't tell everyone… it'll get sold out

  • Go see it before deciding - it looks cheap compared to other soundbars.

    • It is cheap. Got one. Thanks OP.

  • Also just to note, this soundbar doesn't sit as high as others I have seen so when sitting in front of your tele, it wont impede on the viewing area at all (for most TV's). Irrelevant if your TV is wall mounted but its a good thing to keep in mind if you are looking for a soundbar.

  • Got one, thanks.

  • Got one as well for the spare room. Can barely understand what people are saying using the built in speakers on the TV…

looks like you got the Stallone edition built-in speakers

  • Got one. It has a remote you can control the bass, treble, volume, input. Bit annoyed because you can't control the volume with your tv remote…mine is a sony bravia

  • Thanks OP, you are a legend, I just bought one. Ozbargain is feeding my internet shopping habit very nicely thank you!

  • Was looking around for a soundbar. $99 seems like a nice price for an introductory one.

  • Thanks OP! Bought one today, just to upgrade my older 2.0 ver. Probably gonna rid of it at Gumtree.

  • Thanks OP !

Got one. Sounds good for $99, couldn't ask for more.

  • It's not bad. The virtual surround works, without it the sound is very flat (just like with the TV speakers). Only problem is it is very hit and miss, some games and movies sound much better with it. While other TV shows & movies, sound just very echoed.

Have been looking at getting the YAS-101, since you can use your TV remote and I'm hoping it has better virtual surround with it's Air Surround Xtreme. Does anyone have experience with both units? Would it be worth getting a YAS-101, is the virtual surround a lot better?

    • Don't know about the YAS-101 - but as for the remote, why not just get a cheap Harmony remote and control everything with it (DVD, BD, TV, Soundbar)?

  • Has anyone received theirs? I just got a box delivered which is a cube. Should there be 2 boxes a long one for the soundbar and a cube for the sub?

    • Yeah its a small box the sound bar is 3 pieces u screw together and the sub is in the same box

      • Cheers Lazer, that makes sense. I didn't want to open the box just yet to find out.
