  • Hmmm………good one but still holding out for a quad pack under $50.

  • Can you buy two of "DECT 1535 +2 Cordless Phone" and use the two extra cordless phones with the one base? So you have 5 phones working with one base?

    • Should be able to. You just have to register the handsets to the base. I have registered Philips handsets to a Panasonic base. The instructions will be in the manual.

Note that most Uniden phones (including these) use DECT 6 rather than plain DECT. So these handsets will NOT register to a normal DECT base, only to a DECT 6 base.
So your suggestion should work as you would be registering 5 handsets to one of the 1535 bases.

  • If anyone bought the phones under deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114828 less than 30 days ago like me (damn)…. then The Good Guys has a 120% price guarantee policy (http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content-PriceGuarant…)… so if you can find them in AusPost.. buy them.. get catalogue… and then return your one to TGG… well.. that's what I'm doing… TGG ones have even arrived yet.. that is how recently I bought them… That'll work, right?

    • +2

find them in AusPost.. buy them

      return your one to TGG

      That'll work, right?

Just out of curiosity, did you read the Good Guys price policy page you linked to?

      • "When you purchase, The Good Guys provide an exclusive 30 Day Price Guarantee. Should you discover a better advertised price for the same product by any local competitor*, simply bring in the advertisement^, plus your sales receipt within 30 days of purchase. We will cheerfully refund 120% of the difference.

Our 120% 30 day price guarantee applies on all newly boxed, currently available stock of the identical model, advertised by a local competitor.

        • Local competitor - A local bricks and mortar storefront, actively engaged in The Good Guys local retail market.

^ Evidence of an authentic advertised price in a daily newspaper or catalogue, commercial radio or television."

So if you do all that you should get $18.66 back from the good guys (120% of the price difference).

I can see all the ozbargainers buying the phone from the good guys then coming back the next day with the austpost catalogue to save $2.67, IF the above logic works

      • Of course I read the page LOL.. but I just wanted some reassurance that I could actually do it whilst at the same time letting other people know? Although others could just go to TGG and have it price beat.. For me.. the "local competitor" bit.. does there need to be an AusPost within some certain distance? OR.. do they just say that so you can't buy online from overseas? But then is an AusPost in direct competition with TGG? I would think so because they're selling the same item… yeah.. Aaahhh I'm a woman.. I like to talk things out!

        • Hmm, I am not sure if you got it or not. You don't need to return it to TGG, you don't even need to wait for your phone to arrive just call them and say it is a lower price at xxx, and they should refund the difference.

        • Just called TGG and told them that I saw it cheaper elsewhere.. They said that i had to physically go instore and GIVE them the catalogue (can be printed from online) and they will give me the difference plus 20% back. My GG order of the phone doesn't have to be physically in my posession for me to go back in store. But yeah it confirmed that I'll get some money back..

I called up my local good guys store, they were very rude- Cancelled my order over the phone considering it was paid for last Thursday and still not shipped. Picking one up from AusPost in my lunch break. Will post how I go :)

        • My GoodGuys order just arrived today.. now I have to make the trek into store to get some money back.. Girl I spoke to at my local was actually quite helpful and decent.. (Auburn, NSW)

    • *HAVEN'T arrived yet

I hope that Uniden have improved their handsets. I had a set of them which had a 4 year warranty (finished in May this year) and had to return handsets 5 times for repair of the 4-way toggle button.

Although for this price it could be worth a risk.

Good deal, but might be worth checking some of reviews -

there have been ongoing complaints regarding the original batteries dying for these units. My double handsets slowly died in unison about 18months after buying them. DSE sell replacements for ~$25. I bought some elcheapo replacements from ebay (about $2) and they have been going strong for the last 2 years.

phone has been doing everything it is meant to.

  • Propriety batteries, no deal.

  • Looks like the battery is just 2 AAA rechargeable with a connector. You should be able to make yourself.

  • Great deal. Perfect timing for me.

  • Alternatively, I bought a Uniden 1010 (DECT 6.0) basestation with one handset for $15 in Target on Saturday.

  • I bought the set last year I think for 60 bucks or so. I have since broke all of them. The screen breaks easily and the display just switches off. For one handset replacement it is $29 I think but for $13 more you get extra 2. For this price you can't go wrong. I just picked one up.

  • $64.95 for 1535+1 in Auspost Brandon Park

  • FYI: Melbourne GPO just ran out of stock.

  • Just picked up a 1535 +2 today at 2pm from the 111 Bourke St Melbourne store. The sales lady said there were a couple more in the storeroom (both products) and also the ones in the display cabinet.

  • Its a good deal but Couldn't guess that many people are still using landline!

Mobile reception sux the big one where I live (Lysterfield South in VIC).

    • We use VOIP at our place ($5/month Pennytel) but still use cordless handsets with the base station plugged into a VOIP compatible router. Works a treat.

      • I haven't looked into VOIP, but my ADSL line speed is 1.2Mb download and f'all upload… so not sure how well that will work?

  • Thanks, just picked up a set.

  • seimens brand lasts a longer than the uniden ones, though more expensive

    bought mine from ryda

  • Panasonic is better than Uniden , but more expensive . Anyway brought one for my mother .
