Melbourne to Singapore $300 Return + Other Destinations with AirAsia Singapore Sale

510

AirAsia is having a sale from all major Australian cities to Singapore (via KL). Fares are lower than published, just search, for example Melbourne to Singapore is AUD 302.48 return (no baggage). This is the cheapest I've seen from AirAsia in a long, long while.

  • Why would you temp me with this?
I was considering going to Singapore during the WA school holidays and flights already seemed cheap at $400 return, but then I changed my mind and decided to go to the Melbourne Cup. Now Singapore is $325 return. Soooo cheap. I'm meant to be saving for a house dammit.

i got some tickets to perth to singapore the other day jetstar wanted $640 tiger $360 return. jetstar will beat any competitors quote by %10 but it has to be with in 24hrs for international flights, so i got exit rows with jetstar for $380 return with 15-18 inches maybe more of legroom.

      • Thanks for the heads up. I ended up booking Perth - Singapore (Jetstar price beat Tiger) for $184, Singapore to KL for $40 and KL to Perth for $163 with AirAsia. I'm doing 6 nights in Singapore and 3 in KL.

Now to get Jetstar to price beat the tiger flights I was going to book for Melbourne Cup…

        • I just got an email from AirAsia offering an upgrade to a flatbed for the KL-Perth flight for $95. There's no guarantee, but the money is funded if I don't get upgraded (minus a $3.50 fee). Worst case; I'm out $3.50 - best case, I'm flying in as much style as is possible on AirAsia.

  • 12/9 is the cheap day for a few international flights from Melbourne one-way.

    MEL-SIN - $178
    MEL-PEK - $367
    MEL-MFM - $245 etc.

  • Some other examples, $415 return to Bali, $440 return to Bangkok. If only I had some leave…

    • I have leave, but no passport.

  • I booked Malaysian Airlines KUL to MEL for $310 in January. Good price for a full service airline for that time period. SAle still going when i checked last in the weekend.

    • Wow, pretty good deal. I got AirAsia to KL for the same price in Feb :(

    • is it KUL to MEL return? what are the dates?cheers

  • I'm not getting any special for MEL - SIN - 24th Sep? Only need one way, but I'll book a return if it's cheaper.

  • 14 Nov - 30 Nov return Mel to Saigon for $503 inc baggage… damn tempting

  • Does anybody know if you could get off in KUL on the way to Singapore? The flights to Singapore are cheaper than the direct fligts to KUL, even though the Singapore flights go through KUL.

    • They will cancel your return flight automatically.

      • Even if they are booked in two separate transactions?

        • Contact them and see what they have to say, I doubt that they would turn down the chance to re-sell the second leg if they are able to do so.

  • Not truly special pricing from Perth - since Perth > Singapore is a direct 5.5 hour flight, stopping over in KL would turn that into a much longer haul.

Tiger flies direct from Perth to Singapore, return for $364.27 with random dates I chose, flying out on 20th Sept and returning on 27th Sept.

AirAsia is $468 for the same dates.

Very good prices from the east coast of Australia though, regardless of any stopover in KL.

  • any idea if we can do a price match with jetstar on melb -> sing?

    • -1

I dont think so because this is a connecting flight whereas jetstar only price matches direct flights
But you can do two separate price matches
One from Melb -> KL and KL->Sin

      • Jetstar don't fly to KUL from MEL so good luck with that!

  • Question - how are these guys to fly? I'm talking to Thailand. Are the seats really that bad, knees in in peoples back, flight delays, etc?

    • +1

I flew Melb->KL->Phuket with them about a month ago.

A330 from Melbourne to KL was brilliant - we went closer to the back to we ended up with 3 seats between the two of us, but as a 6'1" broad male, the seat was great for width and legroom was one of the best for cattle class I've seen - although to be fair, ive only flown to NZ as a comparison since Low Cost Carriers came in.

A320 from KL to Phuket - very crammed in leg room - but it was only for 1hr 20min flight, so bareable.

      • Thanks! Very helpful.

        • Last time I flew KL to Mel was totally horrible (I suppose you get what you pay for). It was an overnight flight and we got about three hours sleep before then turned on all the lights way before landing. It was very very early morning and then proceeded to try and sell food, drinks and duty free for what seems like an eternity when you just want to sleep.

        • Have to agree…. but we scored three seats for 2 on the way back to by booking back in the plane. My $10 neck brace from Katmandu and a eye shade meant I slept well enough and I am not generally a good sleeper on planes. If a good nights sleep is more important than the $$$'s of dollars saved, then probably there are other airlines that fit the criteria better.

        • So would we agree, OK for a day flight, forget it for a night flight?

        • Horses for courses…. in Phuket the AUD$400 differential between other carriers return and Air Asia is not justifiable by me - $400 is a lot of spending money so it doesn't worry me so much about not sleeping on a plane - which I don't usually do anyway, regardless of carrier. Only other time I really slept well was Business Class from Holland to KL on Malaysia - different category of airfare

    • I was wondering about this too as they're the airline that had the crash recently(Thailand?).

I've been flying Scoot from the the GC to Sing and the planes and seat room and prices have been great but I've seen Air Asia beat them a few times but that crash weighs on my mind…they've got form I guess.

Booked Melbourne > Bangkok return for $400. Thanks Op!
First time flying with AirAsia, but it beats paying the $1100 Qantas/Virgin wanted.

  • Found Sydney —-> Bali Return for $430 on the 13/11 and Return on 28/11 not too bad !!

  • Melbourne —>> Bangkok
    21 Nov Depart - 30 Nov Return
    $440. good deal.
    thanks op.

  • Has any one know whether there will be any offers in Airfare during December month. SYD TO SNG…

  • Anyone know what time the promo ends? Cheers

  • JET STAR!! - Terrible. My husband & I are not big in width people but the seats were only just large enough. Leg room- what leg room? My husband is 6ft. tall, I am 5ft.6. We flew from Perth to Singapore so flight was 5.5 hrs. Service was non existent - we did purchase a coffee for $4.00 ea. with cabin crew who seemed to resent being bothered by us passengers. When we later asked for water were told we'd have to pay $4.00 for bottled. How can an airline not even provide free water to passengers? The trip was to reach Singapore to board the Sun Princess for a cruise finishing back in Fremantle W.A. Well most people will have heard that the cruise line cancelled the trip leaving 2000 of us trying to find another hotel for the night & organise flights home.We booked on line with Singapore Airlines for our rescue flight back. Have travelled with them on many occasions & as usual were not disappointed - great flight with professional, friendly cabin crew. The thought of ever contemplating flying with Jet Star again will not happen. All in all a horrendous experience for what was to be a special cruise for my birthday - we're just pleased to be back home.

    • Well, I keep buying bottled water until my friend told me that I was stupid and should have asked for tap water. And tap water is free(well did't even know it existed all this while)

    • if your husband is 6ft, i really don't understand why you wouldn't just buy extra leg room
