Plus Killzone: Mercenary is looking fantastic. :)

    • Did you try the Beta?

      • Not personally, but I've watched plenty of vids. Looks very impressive.

Don't order online! You will regret it. Just order in store (From previous experience with DSE)

I've never had a problem with online but you can order online and pick up in store.

    • Actually, you can buy online and if you have any issues go in store to sort it out. All stores accept returns, exchanges or faulty products you received online.

      Easy.

That indicates to me that it's a standardised bundle with rrp of $259. Everyone's going to be offering it. JB will probably throw in a free case or what not.

I suppose the only compelling reason to buy now, other than KZ Mercenary, is that 3G stock may be discontinued (??).

EB have Vita 3G + Jak and Daxter for $269 - so that's likely the RRP. I suppose $254 will be the best price for the next few months.

  • I am still waiting on a Wifi only console for 199… and spend the remaining money on the memory card. I have tons of free games lined up from PS+. Having said that, KZ Mercenary is looking good. :)

    • Yeah, me too.

If it wasn't for the memory cards I'd make an impulse buy. It's hard to justify spending $300+ (Vita 3G + game + memory card) when I have so many untouched PS3 games, and too many PC games due to the Steam Summer Sale and the EA Humble Bundle. I also only played my PSP about 3 times - so that was a silly purchase.

Plenty of good reasons to buy the Vita - I don't own a tablet as yet, have plenty of Vita games through PSN+ and will likely get plenty more for free; i'll be able to use with PS4 once I plunge into that.

Bit confused right now. On one hand it's a good deal, on another it isn't - and with the PS4 about to be launched at a pretty good price I might just decide to carry on waiting.

      • Yep, same for me.

I have so many games from Steam sales and bundles (including the Origin one) which am yet to touch.
I haven't been able to finish Last of Us yet. Only sit down for couple of hours of TF2 when am back home from work.

I did use the PSP when I am out on a trip. Am talking about long boring international flights and airport waits. I drive to work, so can't enjoy the luxury of playing the PSP in the train commute.
There were just couple of PSP games I played quite a bit. Everybody's Golf, etc.

I am mainly looking at the PS Vita to play PS4 games linked to it while I head off to bed etc. Also there's a huge collection of PSOne games I can play through it.

I was thinking of picking up a second hand one from Gumtree at about 150, but if I can get a brand new for 199, why not. Having said that, I also have the PS4 expense on my list, along with all it's launch titles, GTA5, BF4… :|

        • Probably going off topic here, but I'm very happy to pay $549 for the PS4 - I don't see it dropping to $399 for a long while - maybe even 2 to 3 years, and I need a decent controller for my PC - so if the PS4 controller is confirmed to work (well) with PC games, then I'll be tempted to get one just for that. Or it might be smarter just to buy the controller.

But, I won't pay full price for the games. I just won't do it.

The day I bought my PS3 (Slim) I bought GTA IV, MGS IV and Motorstorm 2 - for $40 each or so. I've spent no more than 2 hours on each of them.

I'm much happier paying $20 for a game and then selling it on ebay to get most of my money back.

Those full price games I have bought I can't bring myself to sell - the loss is too much.

I'll definitely get the PS4, I'm happy with the price, but I think I'll have to wait until some of the games fall to $20 or so, or until PSN+ provide some genuine PS4 goodies. And I can't just abandon my PS3 and it's growing collection.

I think I'll also try to not buy any where near as many games as I have this generation.

        • (off topic) I tried all controllers for the PC, the best one which worked with all Steam games without any problem was a wired xbox360 controller. Grab one. :)

        • Wireless 360 controller with a $7 dongle from eBay does the same job, but better due to no cables. Works perfectly for me.

        • The wireless dongles are a hit and miss. Friend's one worked fine, one I grabbed didn't. Now I have the wired plugged in to the pc 24/7 and the wireless with a battery pack is for the 360.

If you are spending X amount of money for a wireless controller in the first place, better to buy the wired controller which is meant to work without any dramas straight out of box. (And you save money on battery pack/rechargeable batteries).

        • I've got half a dozen mates who use the eBay dongles and they have all been perfect, there's also a thread on here with plenty of other users who have them and work fine.

I wouldn't say spending X amount on a wireless controller is a good reason to buy an inferior wired controller, wired controllers are so 8 years ago. For me a wired controller would be a pain in the ass, I like to use the controller on the big screen, I don't want to be running a cable across the media room for kids to fall over. Also any self respecting OzB member has piles of rechargeable batteries they have picked up on the cheap.

        • Or wireless controller bundled with official dongle. I think I bought mine for ~$40.

  • Jb has same combo plus the starter pack for $1 extra. So $259
