    SAVE 50% off RRP.

So do you normally sell these at RRP ???

  • +6

You had exactly the same prices on these glasses a month ago.

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:BsKa4C4…

This is more like SPAM than a bargain…

    • -4

Some colour codes were the same prices but those 3 are cheaper.

      • +2

Claiming a 50% saving is misleading and deceptive when you have not reduced your prices by 50%… Read up on the law…

        http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/misleading-claims-advertisi…

        • +3

not relevant, as they are not claiming to have sold them at RRP…..

          However….

"Advertisements or promotions of 'savings' or 'discounts' in comparison to the RRP of goods and services may convey to potential customers they are getting a good deal because the prices are less than the RRP. If the product has never been previously sold at the RRP, or the RRP does not reflect a current market price, then the advertisement using this form of comparison may, depending on the circumstances, misrepresent the amount of savings."

        • +1

          Very relevant…

          The Rep quoted

          "SAVE 50% off RRP."

This is there to deliberately mislead consumers into believing they are saving 50% when they are most definitely not. Why else would they post it ?

        • +1

tis a matter of pedantics, but they are not claiming you will save 50% off their usual prices. Therefore the claim is not misleading, (unless the RRP is made up)….. They are merely claiming their prices are 50% off the RRP.

However…. as above…. their advertisement may misrepresent the actual amount of savings on this particular product, unless they had been sold at RRP.

I'd take a punt that a significant %age of retailers engage in this type of advertising….

        • +1

but they are not claiming you will save 50% off their usual prices.

          They don't need to…

Businesses are not allowed to make statements that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression.

          The ACCC also state…

"It makes no difference whether the business intended to mislead you or not."

There is no other reason to state "SAVE 50% off RRP.", other than to mislead a prospective buyer…

        • The chemist warehouse does this all the time, if it was that a serious issue, I would assume they would have already been fined by the accc..

        • +2

I would assume they would have already been fined by the accc..

          Has anyone reported it?

        • I would assume they would have already been fined by the accc..

They only respond to consumer complaints…

        • -2

Businesses are not allowed to make statements that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression.

They haven't…… unless as previously mentioned, the given RRP is incorrect.

        • +1

          They haven't……

Do you work for them, if so, you should check the box that says you are associated with them.

Why would you quote a RRP if it was not for comparison ???

You are only allowed to quote a RRP in advertising if you previously sold it for that price…

If the product has never been previously sold at the RRP, or the RRP does not reflect a current market price, then the advertisement using this form of comparison may, depending on the circumstances, misrepresent the amount of savings.

        • Do you work for them, if so, you should check the box that says you are associated with them.

          If I did, I would….

You are only allowed to quote a RRP in advertising if you previously sold it for that price…

Nonsense…. The next quote you used contradicts that statement…..
"If the product has never been previously sold at the RRP, or the RRP does not reflect a current market price"

Very few retailers charge RRP, but many quote it in their advertisements….

        • Jv please report CW and let us know what the accc days then.

  • +3

    no deal

  • Forget about it

  • +8

    Thanks Jv for saving us

    • +3

You're welcome… I'm glad my boy scout training has been useful…

  • -1

Thanks for the comments guys but if you actually notice the prices on the 3 colour codes we are promoting are cheaper than they use to be with the $5 coupon.

    • +5

Then maybe you should reword your advertising to say something like…

"BARGAIN RAY BAN: Save $5 on 3 colour codes"

  • +3

Thanks for the comments guys but if you actually notice the prices on the 3 colour codes we are promoting are cheaper than they use to be with the $5 coupon.
    replyvotesreport

So, your 'bargain' is $5 off a purchase of $130 to $172

    Around 3% to 4% off ?

    That is not a bargain.

    EDIT:
Oh, and please change "Save $$" to "Save $5" in the title.

  • +1

lesson to rep: only thing worse than no bargains is fake bargains

  • -1

    Perhaps this is clearer:

Ray Ban RB3386 003/8G - were $143 on the website, now $130 (use $5 coupon and they are $125)
Ray Ban RB3386 004/13 - were $172 on the website, now $160 (use $5 coupon and they are $155)
Ray Ban RB3386 004/9A - were $172 on the website (use $5 coupon and they are $167)

  • I wonder why my vote was revoked

    • +1

probably because you didn't provide a reason why you were voting negative - your comment wasn't exactly descriptive

    • I'd hazard a guess that you gave no reason for a neg vote.

    • Brilliant thanks!

    • This deal is in Australian dollars not US dollars so your claim of USD$95 is actually closer to AUD$105.

Amazon do not offer free shipping to Australia so you have to pay delivery on top so add another $20.

And Amazon do not sell those sunglasses to Australia because of restrictions.
" We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

I'm surprised that after hammering iframes the same people turned around and upvoted someone who provided misleading information!

      • I'm as surprised as you are!

        • ironic that it is election weekend, isn't it.

Hey rep, this is ozbargain not ozbullshit
