Is it possible with VirginMobile?

I just finished my 24month contract for my $29/monthly post paid plan.
I am wondering is it possible to get a handset which is for higher plan eg $39/monthly keeping the original postpaid plan ($29) with same credit limit (as with $29)?
I am happy to pay max of extra $5 on top of $29 for handset offered with $39?

Basically I want to know if its possible to negotiate with such request?
Any one tried this before? Please let me know your feedback.

  • Just use their online chat. If they do it might be like $7 or something instead of $5 in which it would just be better to get it for free on the $39 plan.

Consider buying a handset outright. You can keep your current plan but save $10 for not having a phone included. Even if they offered you what you want for $5 more, that is $15 * 24 = $360.

$360= LG Optimus G from JB HiFi or 16Gb Nexus 4 +$42 to spend on Apps

Or even better, move to Vaya, get the same coverage, more calls, and way more data for $18/month = $384 saved

      • I concur. I'm always recommending nexus 4 8GB + power plan 18 from vaya.

  • bit late to the party, i work there though

at the moment there are no phones available on the $40 plan that arent available for free on the $30 plan
and typically there is no flexibility in terms of negotiating handset repayments, prices are as is

also the plans have changed now, so you would be unable to stay on your current plan (which i believe should give you about $450 credit) if you wanted to upgrade your phone, now ($200)
