Need a cheap 40 inch TV - Soniq, Aldi, or Kogan??

As per the title I need to buy a cheap 40ish inch TV for a guest room.

The easiest option for me is to go to the JB Hifi 5 minutes from me and get the Soniq for $349. Or is there a good reason to get one of the other 2, even though it means waiting??

Or are there any other options??

Thanks

  • I've got a 32 inch Soniq that's still going well after 6 years. It's nothing special but decent enough for a guest room.

  • I'll second the Soniq, I got myself one of the smaller (20 inch?) tv's with built in DVD player about 3-4 years ago, still going with no issues. Like Donga, I use mine for the guest room.

  • i got the newer 40" soniq fhd led from jb hifi for $349 when it first come out around a month or two a go. it has surpassed any expectations i held for it and then some (you won't regret purchasing it). they wouldn't budge on the price so i purchased it on my 28 degrees card in the hope they will lower it sometime around chrissy and i can recoup the difference through shoppers protection. but if you want even cheaper have a look in the clearance section on the jb site, they have a 42" fhd soniq refurb for $276 delivered

Got an email from Kogan today

    40" Full HD LED TV

    $329 + postage

    • I bought one of those today, hopefully it goes alright.

  • they are all the exact same TV, just different branding + the aldi has the built in DVD player. i would pick whichever has the best warranty and return options as they are 'cheap' TV's which may or may not lead to problems latter on

As I have recommended to others on this site - do not buy Kogan - prices are good & you will open the box all excited to see what your hard earned cash has bought & it looks great - until it has to be put into operation - that is when your bubble will burst.Tears & anger will follow +a lot of phone calls to Kogan which will basically get you nowhere as they never follow up on complaints - even when they are under warranty. BUYER BEWARE

  • Avoid Kogan, I have not had one single item from them last much past warranty, and when you tell them that the problem started within warranty, (which was the case with the GPS I purchased from them) the item still worked mostly and I thought the problem may have been a minor glitch, they still won't help in any way, basic warranties, Forget Kogan!!! I've even seen people say this on a motorbike forum I'm a member off, someone asked about a HD recorder (those ones you see on helmets) immediately someone else posted to avoid the Kogan (as did I also)if the items Kogan are selling are the same as the other two, it looks to me that JB are offering a better warranty!

  • I would choose TV - Soniq in a guest room

  • As suggested by Frondono -
Soniq 42" Full HD LCD $276 Delivered.

  • Like everyone else here I'm endorsing soniq for the cheap tv. My 40 inch soniq is working fine.
