      keep telling yourself this :)

  • Just keep in mind that this is a clear out model. I understand that this will soon be replaced by the DC44

  • Good deal combining from 2 other peoples posts !!

  • Lots of complaints here about cutting out though…

  • Nothing particularly special about the price for this model. I walked into a Good Guys store about a month ago and got a DC44 Animal for $400 without any trouble (higher capacity battery and more attachments)

Note the DC44 Animal is now superseded by the DC59 Animal, released about a fortnight ago (RRP$649 but street price already discounted down to $590).

just want to point out that heads on these are pretty small, so not so great if you want to vacuum a whole house

Nothing wrong with a little head.

      • Depends who's doing the vacuuming ;)

  • Ah Dyson. I love to pay a visit and observe their marketing department. Brilliant minds there.

    • That is true, when we replaced my last vacuum my wife was insistent on a Dyson this time. But despite being extremely sceptical I have to say I am impressed, they have good word of mouth for a reason.

  • The new dyson range is ridiculous.. If u have the dosh and in need of a REALLY good one.. spend it on the new range.. they are waaay better than the old technology.

  • got this from harvery for $293 on australia day. as this is runout (well soon) wait until long weekend oct. harvey will prob drop that low again. on a plus note, i have a big 2 bedroom apartment which is cleaned with this within the 13min. worth it for ease and very good strength.

  • Hello Bitsurfr, can you tell me how you managed to get the DC44 down to $400 at Good Guys? What did you have to say to them? The DC44 has twice the power so I think it's worth it I'm only paying $50 more.

    • Didn't have to say anything special, I normally just walk into a store and tell the salesperson I want this product for $X, can you do it? And be prepared to walkaway! No need to time-waste, umming-and-arhing etc. In and out in 5 mins. I used to work in retail before so I know what it's like for customers who waste time, pretend to um-and-ah etc, damn annoying.

Why $400? Just know your prices. On this occasion I was already familiar with the product as I already bought one at Costco USA when I was there back in June 2013 (USD299 for DC44 Animal which also came with bonus accessories not bundled in the Aussie version, from memory the hose and some other attachment also provided free). Yes, no warranty but for the difference in price I'm willing to gamble.

I live in Canberra and the cheapest price GoodGuys down here would offer was $435 ('sale' sticker price then was ~$488?). They wouldn't take $400. $435 was probably a fair price for Canberra since everything tends to be more expensive down here than in Syd. I just went to local Syd store and offered $400, initially the salesguy was the one umming-and-ahring. I said here let me make it easier for you, I'll give you $435 for the unit + the blind cleaner attachment (worth $49). Let the store make a little profit and everyone's happy.

  • Thanks Bitsurfr. I'm going to give it a try the next time I'm near a store.
