ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

    • These mixed reports make no sense, ricky123 said he was able to cancel his other order and the E531 wnet through with ETA to be announced on Friday. If this was an error you would think Lenovo would shut it down first before cancelling orders - pointless if people can keep ordering…

Edit: seems more are being cancelled below. Sigh.

    • Is it the E531 that you have ordered? Or E330?

    • +2

why do so many people feel the need to call them?

      • +1

i was ordered 2 e531 at 2 different time , i just call to cancel 1 of them, but before i tell them the order number, he asked me that is it the e531 with full hd display. i said yes , he told me i dont need to cancel ,itl be automatically do it because it s price error .the email ll sent out shortly…

  • +3

E531 doesn't seem to have a FHD upgrade anymore.

    :(

    • Same here.

      • same

    • I concur. We must have bought every single 15.6" FHD screen they have in stock :D

  • +2

Just rang up Lenovo to confirm my order status, but was told that it was an pricing error. Cancellation email will be sent soon. I'm yet to receive the cancellation email, anyone got it ?

    • Not good enough I think. They should at least fulfill some of the orders - up to a point.

  • koganned again! why this always happens on OZB :(

  • too good to be true I suppose

  • Was fun while it lasted boys. First Amazon, then Kogan, now Lenovo. Who next, taking bets now!

    • +1

      DSE ;)

    • The chances will be HN. Like a loop. :P

    • Harvey norman!

  • +5

Getting ready for the flood of negs and class action lawsuit threats.

    • +1

This is why we need government policy to hold companies accountable for online pricing. Happens too often, and retailers have ZERO accountability.

      • +3

Companies could potentially lose a huge amount of money if some employee accidentally (or maliciously) advertised expensive products for well below cost price. If you were running a company, I don't think you'd be happy if you were forced to sell $2000 laptops for $200. Humans make mistakes.

        • -3

And why is that my issue? Companies are accountable for their actions.

        • +2

There is some accountability. Read the laws regarding that. It requires a pricing error to be reasonable. This is not reasonable, upgrading the monitor have a discount. A clear pricing error.

Also everyone in the thread was saying they didn't think it would go through, thinking it was a pricing error - an indication the pricing error was unreasonable.

        • +1

If they had 1000 stock of FHD and 10 stock of HD, why couldn't they possibly reduce the price to shift the stock? It's called a stocktake sale or a clearance. It often costs companies more to store stock than to shift them.

Ditto if they had 1000 stock of arctic blue and 10 of black.

Everything I say is getting negged, so I'm not wasting any more time on my argument. Hate away and expect these scenarios time and time again.

        • +1

Yes, you are wasting your time to argue and defend something that yourself don't even believe. I didn't make an order two days ago as I believe this is clearly a price error, if it's not on OZB, 50 people might get it honored, but once more than 200 upvotes, there's no chance to get it, so I just stepped back.

Now you get the result you were expecting, even you don't like it, as many similar times in the past, just leave it and move on.

        • +5

If you were paying a bill online, and accidentally entered $2000 instead of $200, you'd be happy to lose the $1800 because "individuals are accountable for their actions"?

        • -4

First, I don't pay for things without triple checking the price. If I did accidentally enter $2000 and failed to see my mistake then yes, I am accountable for my action. So is the employee who entered the wrong price for the screen upgrade. The question is whether Lenovo should suffer for the incompetency of the employee. Provided their recruiting/training practices are adequate, I don't think Lenovo should suffer.

        • It is normal that company suffer for the incompetency of the employee,eg: every sexual harassment case. But i get your point.

        • C/QANTAS would. If you make a typo with them, they'll take that line

        • +1

of course we will expect these scenarios again and again - while humans run the world. They have been happening since the dawn of commerce - humans make mistakes. A company should not have to cop a disproportionate penalty for the minor mistake of one employee!
When the Singularity comes we will no longer see these errors.

  • +1

$150 saving is not really that much over the grand scheme of things, there are no honorable companies these days, truly sad!!!

    • +2

It's all to do with scale.. this deal has 24K clicks..

  • +8

    I am actually glad. I saved ~$670 :D

  • soon to be moved to the forum section? I hope not!

  • I will be fine if they still honor the deal without the FHD screen.

  • Kogan'd!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOYEAH!

  • Lenovo'ed.. Lenovo'ed

  • Current price for E531 without FHD screen cost AU$550.00 - $55.00 = $495.00.

  • well it seems the e531 FHD offer is now off,

cant seem to be able to get the discount,

should of bought it faster, lesson one of ozbargain

my 2008 32bit laptop still going fine

  • HOW LONG MORE DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR?

    :(

    • +14

they are probably checking if the cancellation email has any errors

    • wait for the cancellation emails? you cant wait?

      • +6

The one thing I'll miss the most are the $1 Noise-cancelling earphones.

        • That's an interesting legal question.
You fulfilled the conditions for those, did you not? You should still get them.

Talk of class action is a bit much, but how hard is small claims court for an online purchase?

      • +4

Well, I'm sorry if I'd rather stay informed than misinformed. I bought the deal because I need a new laptop so if they cancel this order, they should notify us ASAP instead of dragging their heels. This way, I know that I can go outside and get a new laptop now.

To be honest, if they send us a cancellation email by the end of this business day, I (might) not kick a fuss but otherwise I'm going to turn real nasty towards some innocent customer service representatives tomorrow.

    LENOVO anag NO LOVE

  • +8

No wonder Live chat is down.

    They can't face angry Ozbargainers.

    Good point

They still not taking out any money from my account.

    I save myself $336

Great Chance to Stop talking to a brick wall ( waited 20 mins over the phone with no answer.)

I don't really need it in first place. bought it because it's cheap.

Learned to resist buying things that i don't need in the future.

    Bad point

    Nothing

    • Bad point: Disappointment

  • sigh…agree too good to be true…

  • Looks like no more option to select a different monitor for the E531.

    • +3

It looks to me like they finally ran out of FHD screens!

Oh and Arctic Blue ones too

  • +5

hope they honor the earphones if not the laptops :)

  • +1

we will get nothing, so many called to confirm and were told its all correct, still, no leg to stand on.

Guess it was to be expected, shame as the consumer we have no real rights until it is received

    • +1

This feels a lot worse than being Kogan'ed. Just because they didn't bother rectifying the error over the weekend, meh.

  • What's everyone's order status? Mine says Order Processing.

Money was taken out of my credit card though.

    Hm.

    • Order Date: 2013/09/14
      Status - Released to Manufacturing

Money has been deducted from credit card.

    • my order status is "Released to Manufacturing". is it before your status or after yours?

      • I definitely think it goes Order Processing then Released to Manufacturing.

    • +1

what is the chance of those Chinese factories already finished our order, and it'll force Lenovo to have a massive sale of E330 nd E531 due to overstock?

      • +1

        close to zero.

        • Don't underestimate the Chinese first they don't believe in weekends ( at least their boss don't)second they could build a 15 storeys in 2 days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps0DSihggio). Making few thousands laptops over weekend would be a piece of cake to them. =D

  • IMHO they should at least hand out discount codes to those who ordered.
I'd still purchase a Full HD E531 as long as the price is reasonably cheap.

    • you will get their discount code for 10% off.

    • +9

Buy the one on ebay, $440
      ;)

      • Care to give me the link?
Can't seem to find the one with Full HD screen within that price range.

        • +2

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ThinkPad-Edge-E531Express-Core-i3…

He/She might cancel when lenovo notify the price error tho

        • -1

          .

        • Well that sorta defeats the purpose. I ordered one from Lenovo as well.
          What I meant was:
They should give out discount codes (I'm thinking along the line of 20% off) to those who got screwed by this pricing error.

Sorry if I wasn't clear before.

        • They pulled it.

  • +2

    Very disappointed…

So many price-error deals lately.. Amazon, Amart, Kogan and now Lenovo. I didn't bother buying S4 as it was an obvious error but I took a bite in other three deals. At the time, I actually thought the deals were legit..

    • same here. amart at least sent me $20 giftcard. however, i did wish amazon and this lenovo's deals were legit.

      • Yeah Amart and Kogan both gave out $20 giftcards but even if Lenovo gave out a giftcard, what the hell can you get from for $20? A keycap?

        • +5

          20 x $1 headphones. :P

    • +7

Ah well they will pay for it to some extent - if this is true. Their reputation will drop and customers will shop elsewhere. They took way too long to advise people about this.

      • +3

Took too long to advice about this? Well, they haven't adviced me in any way this was an error. Of course they didn't have to, saw this coming long time ago…

    • +2

some jerks use the loophole/pricing errors to make money on eBay!

      welcome to OzBargain…….

  • lenovo owes me $1!!!

    • -1

      why?

      • +5

Because he's Cheap, Lenovo owes me BLOOD!!

        • They deposited $1 out of my account.

        • +2

          Withdrew?

They did this to me as well and my 28degrees has been blocked 3 times in the last 24 hours due to fraudulent activity bloody Lenovo!!!

  • they have my phone number, if i get a call from someone in Australia to apologise, then thats ok. I'm thinking they have the PR team on it by now, might make some low level of news…

  • Ordered two on Saturday. Just cancelled i7 740m fhd $691.55. Hope the i3 goes through. Otherwise I'm left with nothing. The i7 was sent to manufacturing so looked to be honoured.

    • Did they actually cancel part of your order or did you initiate?

    • Mine was sent to manufacturing too, hopefully it goes through but I doubt it, support said that the orders will be cancelled.

    • Just logged in to see my order status…

      not good :-(

      http://cubeupload.com/im/WnvE0q.png

      • ?? A "System error" in checking order status is better than an "Order cancelled" message.

  • +16

I told my gf i bought her a new laptop
if they cancel my order, it would make me a liar, can i sue them for damage my image?

    • go ahead!

    • +4

it's not just your image that will get damage, your sex life will suffer as well!

    • +3

oh god just think from now on she would win every argument with " remember that time you lie to me" phase.

      • lol, no turning back now!

    • -1

Depends. Will you get make up sex? If yes, no case.

  • Start the search all over again !!

Some form of compensation is due

    • Oh well Haswell here we go…

    • Why is some form of compensation due?
Were you hospitalised from the disappointment? Did the sheer sadness cause your arm to fall off? Did the sheer magnitude of the sense of loss cause permanent paralysis?

Talk about a sense of entitlement and the lawsuit society - compensation for a simple pricing error that you strongly suspected when you ordered.

They have since apologised, but clearly something as serious as an employee making a typo is unforgivable!

  • +7

All is forgiven Lenovo if you sell me the headphones for $1 delivered.

    • +1

it's all in the air.. maybe they try to cancel the orders because they don't have enough headphones. ;-)

  • if they cancel they cancel, not much you can do about it. The ACCC kneels in the shadow of a company this large.

  • Bummer. :(

  • Are they going to cancel all orders placed over the weekend? The status of my order changed to "Released to Manufacturing" this morning. Will this one be cancelled as well? Fingers crossed!
