ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

    • In the same link it says "order processing" for me since I ordered the e531.

    • mine still being verified.
      bought it saturday around 5-6pm

  • +1

This is really poor form from Lenovo. Given their responses and call centre support. If it was Dell I think they would have honoured the "error", given past experiences…. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73273

    • haha no. There was a mini fiasco with dell vostro desktops. Made a little noise in the papers and OzBargain was mentioned.

  • Just a small update to my purchase Sunday afternoon.

E330 with mid range i5, 8GB RAM upgrade and dual band wifi upgrade. No cancellation email and the laptop status is released to manufacturing - I sure hope I don't get one at this rate because my mum's Lenovo S10e is dying fairly quickly these days.

Anyone with a single E330 order received any cancellation messages? Hopeful that even if they don't honour the E531 they will at least continue with the smaller E330s.

    • I have a single e330 ordered and it is still sitting as "sent to manufacturing".

  • Did anyone get an email from lenovo saying the order has been cancelled as requested? I didnt request btw but this seems like they deliberately cover their ass?

    • +2

Yes lots of people have gotten this email, look at all the comments.

      • yup I saw after just posting, what a shame, I was thinking why bother with dicksmith deal crap when you can get this awesome deal from Lenovo. Couldn't be anymore wrong!

  • +3

Just received cancellation email. Lenovo have just guaranteed that I will never even look at their website again. It is the way they are managing the cancellations that is a disgrace.

Your order has been cancelled as you requested.

We thank you for your interest in our products and hope we can help you in the future.

    Kind regards

      • No Love from Lenovo.

    • +1

      DONT LOSE HOPE!

I just used the online Lenovo chat about the cancellation and this is what they said.

Me: Hi there,my order number is xxxxxxxx, and I've just received a cancellation email
but I'm not sure what was cancelled. Is it just the ear buds or has everything been cancelled?
Lenovo: I have tracked the order. Only the noise cancelling earbuds has been cancelled.
Me: and it said that my shipping was cancelled too, is that an issue?
Lenovo: The E531 has been released to manufacturing.
Lenovo: The shipping has not been cancelled.

      Happy days.

  • DId anyone screen shot the conversation with the live chat?

  • +4

      Lameovo

    • +1

      Lameoverit!

  • "In production" comes after "Released to manufacturing" if anyone has hit that post it up

  • +7

    i just "levoked" my vote

  • +2

Mine hasn't been cancelled yet…don't understand why a corporation as big as Lenovo cant have this sorted one way or another within 24 hours.

  • If anyone in Sydney impulsively got the E330, I'd be keen to get it from you.

I ordered the E531 but don't like my chances

    • -1

I like your optimism :) You can have mine for $1000 if i get the E330!

  • +2

Still hoping to take delivery of my E531 for $306, incl earbuds.
No cancellation notice yet and the promise of a TRS refund in a few weeks time…
…go to bed smiling, probably wake up to reality in the inbox.

  • Oh well, nothing gained (except experience) and nothing lost (except time).

I ordered the E531 but didn't have high hopes from the start. As I was planning on using a separate keyboard and monitor, the full HD and numerical keypad are irrelevant in my case. The E330 would've been the better choice, for obvious reasons; Arctic Blue is just a color and although the headphones would've been a welcomed addition, it goes to show that I'd be better off had I applied some common sense and reasoning.

Thanks for the post nonetheless OP. Lenovo rocks! :P

  • +19

All the people going onto Lenovo's FB page & posting abuse & linking it to Ozbargain - all you going to achieve is stuff it up for others, especially ppl who ordered E330 & had no cancellations.
Before you start raging read T&C re pricing errors & grow up.
So you didn't get a good deal - get over it & stop ruining it for others.
    Rant over.

    • +2

It's the mentality that if they don't get it no one deserves to either. :(

    • wow really? there's idiots who actually did that? just wow…

      • +3

Must be the same the morons that instantly created listings on EBay and Gumtree for the laptops with huge markups. They're probably annoyed they wasted their time.

It includes E531 and Thinkpad noise cancelling earbuds.
The final price is AU$495.00 including taxes.
the final price was $346 last night - why has it gone up?
There was a website error with the pricing and it's corrected now.
an error? you didnt mention this last night
We received the updates today about the pricing error.
    I apologize for any inconvenience.
so what will happen to the thousands of people whose payments actually went through at $346?
As of now we don't have any information about that. This will be taken care by our Post Sales team.
well its disappointing - I was looking forward to havng this lapop\
The actual price of the laptop is AU$550 and with the online deal it's $495 including taxes.
This is the best price currently.
    Shipping is free of cost.
How would you like to proceed?
I want it at the advertised price bu\t it looks like that isnt gong to happen
I wish I could have offered the earlier advertised price.
thank you - me too. I thought it was already paid for via paypal
    You're welcome.
Do you have any other questions for me regarding Lenovo Products today?

Yeh well how about putting my $400 back into my visa debit account so i can buy a real laptop not lenovo crap.

  • Still no email

    • Same here.

      • Same :(

  • if your order is cancelled due to price error, there is nothing you can do as long as your money is refunded. however, if they state that you requested them to cancel the order, but you didnt, it is completely a different story. you should contact fair trading.

  • Anyone who bought the E531 with Nvidia N14P-GV2+ received a cancellation email?

    • i did.

      • i did as well, same as the other comments, cancelling of shipping and earbuds, not the actual laptop

  • wait so the e330 is not a pricing error but the e531 is? correct?

  • Waiting to find out.
Enjoying the debate, wanting my lappy, keen to see how Lameovo proceed.

  • Got an SMS from my CC provider saying suspicious transaction from this lenovo stuff

  • My payment have been taken from my credit card but still pending with PayPal not sure what's going on

  • -1

Waiting for someone to start a petition stating we will never consider purchasing another Lenovo product unless this deal is honoured. I'd sign it but it would be useless unless everyone that bought one got onboard..

Now also waiting for the high and mighty's to ride in and say 'Lenovo don't have to honour the deal' etc. etc.
We know this but why not put a little pressure on them and look for a favourable outcome, couldn't hurt right?

    • Favourable outcome - hmmm, wonder what that might be?
      (1) Send us out the laptops at the price advertised and ordered? Unlikely
      (2) Cancel order telling us it was a pricing error on their part and APOLOGISE? Unlikely
      (3) Apologise for wasting a lot of time and send everyone a $50 discount voucher? Unlikely
      (4) Send a crap email confirming that the buyer has cancelled the order? Most likely

      • (3) Apologise for wasting a lot of time and send everyone a $50 discount voucher? Unlikely

unless the discount voucher is stackable, $50 is approx equally to 10% off a $500 laptop. still lame.

      • All I'm saying is it couldn't hurt to try. And I bet if we somehow managed to get the order fulfilled I bet you would be the first one lining up to reap the rewards.

    • They don't care about us OzBargain plebs, which is why they are just cancelling orders with the comment that we requested it. It's sucks but that is how it is. They are a big company and a couple of angry OzBargainers is not going to phase them.

      • +1

i wouldn't doubt the power of the masses, all depends how active we /they are.

more than a couple of us…

  • Damn, my orders are cancelled. I rang them to change my payment methods for two orders and they said they had to cancel the order due to incorrect pricing. The sales team manager is working out a solution to compensate those were affected.

  • Out of curiosity are the canceled orders from first time Lenovo customers? Just wondering if anyone who's had a history of owning Lenovo products, do they try to keep these people happy by granting the one off? It's pretty unsettling waiting if it's a go or not because we can't pursue other alternatives in the meantime.

    • I've bought off them before. No issues in the past.

      • Good to know. I've had an e520, an x220t and Helix most recently so I figure they owe me. Especially for the troublesome x220t. The want for a fhd screen got me enticed with the e531.
The paypal transaction is pending though.
With that said I've got the usual $1 debit from Lenovo.

    • I ordered an E330 for my sister and a E531 for myself.

Each time I checked out, I didn't use paypal and used the normal Lenovo check out using my CC

Each time I checked out I used the 'guest checkout' and didnt make an account though i used practically the same email.

CC has been debited like everyone else, though it still says pending transaction in my netbank [but the money seems to be removd if that makes sense.]

Still no sign of a cancellation email or anything. The order tracking stuff still says released to manufacturing for the E330 and Order processing for the E531 which is the base model and headphones.

No mention of cancelled earphones or shipping and no fruther correspondence whatsoever.

      • dasalcedo made a good point below. Your payment will remain pending until Lenovo have confirmed your order is ready. If it turns out to be a pricing error then I'm guessing the credit card payment won't fall through.

  • No cancellation email yet. However, my credit card payment has been pending since Saturday :/.
Maybe Lenovo need to wait until payment clears before they send me a cancellation email?

    • +2

Same here. But I don't think Lenovo is waiting for clear of payment. In their T&C says that pending payments from Credit cards are not released until order is confirmed.

  • Spent 50 minutes waiting on the phone, apparently they are all price errors. However, the sales department said they will call me back this afternoon and will try and work out a cheap(er than normal) option to try and make up for the inconvenience.

  • Ordered on the 14/9 still showing as "order Processing" but no cancellation emails or phone calls I think it's safe to say its going to be cancelled or I'm going to be asked to cough up a significant difference in price..

  • I just went off the phone after been put on hold for 55 mints with post order customer service and she said they are cancelling all orders as it was a price error but because of the huge amount of orders it will take some time for everyone to receive the cancellation emails
The email she said will have apology from a Lenovo staff management.

  • +7

I don't understand what's with everyone calling up or chatting with reps. We are all aware this is a price error and all orders are being cancelled. By contacting Lenovo about your order you won't automatically make yours go through. Just sit tight and hope for the best.

    • +1

We are all aware this is a price error

I'm not… My order has been released to manufacture and I haven't heard otherwise from Lenovo, except they claim I cancelled my earbuds…

    • +3

I think ppl calling up cos they either want to hear YES we are processing your order right now, or try and get your refund processed ASAP so we could all spend our money elsewhere.

    • Hope for what best? you already got your best which is order cancelled email. Now let other people take control of their best whatever the outcomes might be. Least they give it a shot.

    Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to accept your recent order due to a pricing error on the Lenovo Australia/New Zealand online store.

Based on current information this affected the following laptop configurations between Friday, September 13 and Monday September 16:

    • ThinkPad Edge E330, E531, T530, T430s & X131e display options
    • ThinkPad Helix digitizer pen, front camera and camera display.

I apologize sincerely for the inconvenience caused and can confirm that this error has now been fixed. If you would like to place another order at the correct price, you may do this on our online store or telephone sales support centre.

If you wish to contact me directly to discuss this further, please feel free to email me on
    [email protected]

    Yours sincerely,

    Chris Jowsey
Online Manager, Lenovo Australia & New Zealand

    • Based on this E330 orders will go through as display options did NOT change the price.

      Lenovo made another mistake? NEVER.

      • +1

The midnight black and artic blue option was under the display type tab dont be so butt hurt.

        • I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.

  • …goddammit.

I really had no reason to get the 531 over the 330.
Bigger just seemed better in this case.

  • Still no email, even if its clear what will happen…
No offer in that email above, just a straight response, something would be nice.

    No love from me Lameovo

  • +1

Just got cancellation email from Lenovo, same as DarkRyoushii did.
    My order was for E330.
Out of curiosity I checked my order status & it's still showing "Released to Manufacturing".
Obviously that's just an automated message as the order has been cancelled.
    Bummer!
Now I'll try to contact Lenovo & see if they offer any kind of discount.
Thanks again to the OP, it was worth a try.

  • Lenovo was bad. I bought one of E531 with FHD screen and send me an email notifying order cancelled. In this instance failed to honor their pricing (it was through their web). Not a god customer service.

  • Rang and Lamenovo rep confirmed my e330 got cancelled as well not just the e530's!
The rep said apparently none of the ones over the weekend sold discounted are getting honoured not even when it says release to manufacutring! So they officially make themselves seller enemy No.1 at OZB!

    • Thanks. So it's a confirmation that E330s are also getting cancellations? I'll think E531 FHD option was an obvious stuff up. But now it looks like half of inventory over the weekend were priced wrongly.

      • If this is a pricing error, why not move to forum?

        • I am on the mobile… Can you please report this post so other moderators can move it?

      • scotty, here is the email i received from them just now.

      • Yes soctty, basically no one will be getting anything from Lamenovo, although I'd be interested to know if anyone eventually did got their E330 shipped.
I mean I can understand with the E531 + NC Earpohnes + FHD screen possibly a very little or no margin but the E300 I think is still likely a decent profit maker other than the fact they are just money hungry…..so no more Lenovo for me PERIOD!
It is the way they handle the situation….they are still holding to other people's money and I still had not even receive an email; other OZB customers receiving email stating they request cancellations when they did not and I rang only to confirm it as I got the impression from reading this post some of us buying the e330 might get it….. but obviously NOT happening now!

  • +4

Mr Scotty should reconsider posting any deals from NOLOVE company in the further.

    We can forgive price error
We cannot forgive or forget about poor handling.

  • +2

    whoops, already posted above.

    i don't like lenovo

  • +19

Just spoke with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in regards to misleading and deceptive conduct committed by Lenovo. When I say misleading and deceptive conduct, it means they sent me email advising that my order has been cancelled as per my request but in reality I never made any request to cancel that order.

I have been advised that they will investigate this matter and I can lodge my complaint using the following form

    http://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/consumer-…

All people should lodge complaint. When ACCC sees thousand of complaints, they will definitely take this matter seriously and hit Lenovo for their bad service.

More details on misleading claims is available at http://www.accc.gov.au/business/advertising-promoting-your-b…

    • +8

Other possible reasons for misleading etc:

      1. Numerous items mispriced, not just one
      2. Company reps confirming not a pricing mistake through the time period stated
      3. Issue current for at least 2 days
      4. Cancellation reason incorrect (for E330)
      5. Monies taken prior to cancellation
      6. Orders still listed as active after cancellation email issued
      7. No mentions of refund in cancellation email (for those with monies taken)
      • +1

I haven't got any notification email yet. But if my order get cancelled without proper communication with me, I will definitely make a complaint against Lenovo.

They will feel the pain if everybody complain to ACCC. What ever they try to save by cancelling our orders, the cost of damage control will be much higher than that.

By looking at the number of clicks I assume more than 10,000 orders were placed , if at least 1000 - 2000 people make complaint against them, they will feel the pressure of public backlash.

        cheers,

      • Please disregard #4 (I have since been corrected). Thanks.

    • +8

Lenovo representative just gave negative vote on my post. LOL

      Shame on you Lenovo!!

      • How do you see who negd you?

        • You can't. He's joking about the person who negged him being a Lenovo rep.

    • +1

Probably best if you can set up some guide/template for this.
A lot of OzBargainers may want to do this but could not be bothered/unfamiliar with filing complaints/not have English as first language.

  • What about Payment !! will they deduct and then return money ??????
or will not charge at all ?
or have to file disputed payment with bank ??

  • +2

instead of damage control they went into profit control mode! shameful. I hope this will haunt them for many months…

  • +1

The kicker is not only will we not get the laptops but our emails will also be spammed by Lenovo ads from now on.

  • Think we might get a rep on here?

  • What a Shame !!

Anybody can make changes to website ??
Anybody can send Cancelling Order E-mail to customers "without" cancelling orders ??
Is that much redundancy in data ?? for a Computer Selling Company ??
    Different Departments Different Information ???

    We Think about Mistakes

    We Make them

    DO

    again and again

    • +10

      huh ?

have you been smoking a lenovo ?

      • Probably a non-native English language speaker (writer in this case)? Not an easy language to learn!

  • +9

Complaint to ACCC submitted, I suggest everyone else does the same if you all want a positive outcome out of this

    • I suggest everyone else does the same

      That'll probably crash their servers…

      • +1

Even if it crashed, ACCC will bring the servers up in a day. If it crashes, I can wait another day to make a complaint against Lenovo.
