I know..I know….they are inkjets…and companies make money from sellings cartridges. BUT it has got a scanner too….and it's wireless…so IMO it's good for 9 bucks..

The specs don't really say that it's wireless…but i received an email from DELL showing the same price and photo of the printer…and it says it has an built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless printing. So not sure about that.

EDIT : Those who don't beleive me…check this out : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Bxkv5bFG68uYRFFDNTZ4Yzh0QVk

Mod: This is not the wireless version.

    WTF $9!!! can't be true.

  • just found it. i though it was a typo….. what would they be making on this. $9 is already delivery cost, technically giving it away for free.

  • includes delivery as well!!! thanks OP

  • +6

Wow surprised you didn't notice this.

The $9 printer does NOT HAVE WIFI

    The WIFI version is $79.

    • +10

who cares, $9 for a all-in-one USB, new and delivered.. bargain!!!

      • I got the V313W for $24 a year ago when dellswarm still alive. Good for a wireless scanner. Not so much as a printer cause the ink last about 10~ pages. I never tried to replace the ink, cost a lot more than the printer itself.

        • +17

If I managed to print 10 pages of $2 whopper coupons it would get its money's worth(all $9).

        • -1

My local HJs (Glenndenning,NSW) does not require any proof of coupon. I can order the $2 deal and the $1 Chicken Fillet burger or wrap no proof, so still no deal for me !!

    • -2

      True

  • Doesn't look like wireless???

  • Bought, thanks OP.

  • Not wireless.

And you will waste so much more in colour cartridge costs when one colour runs out but you then need to buy a whole new cartridge. Much better with a printer/multifunction with separate colour cartridges.

    • +11

Or you could just buy 20 printers?

      • +1

if i could i would. only 1 per customer.

      • +1

        haha good point

      • -1

and contribute to even more landfill. great idea!

    • +2

Why not just buy Chinese copy cartridges off ebay?

      • +5

Yeah $16 for a FULL refill, seems quite cheap
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-non-oem-ink-Dell-series-21-V71…

NOTE: the one givin when purchased may not be the FULL ink cartridges

        • +1

          $14 here
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-Black-ink-cartridge-compatible…

The ink on this thing isn't the cheapest, even with non-genuine cartridges..
          On a volume basis, it's $7 for 19ml :\
With the non-genuine carts on my Epson (cost $89), it's $2.50 per 18mls.

        • +1

Yes, but then the $14 is 2Black only
          whereas, $16 is 1
          Colour and 1*Black

Should be able to print colour

Offers fast print speeds, up to 33 ppm in black and 30ppm in color

        • +1

          Ah, my bad.
Still, the cost-to-volume ratio is pretty bad :(
Mine is $2.50 per 15mls (for each colour BCYM)

        • +1

Not bad for a backup though.

        • that's a quick cartridge change if it runs out of ink after 10 pages.

  • +3

Work out how many cartridges you might go through & order that many printers, coz last time I checked these were hungry suckers with champagne tastes! :p

  • +1

    bought. thanks

  • +1

Anyone know if scanner works when ink cartridge is empty?

    • +4

      Of course it does…

      • +4

        More than likely it doesn't…

        • +3

I have yet to see an a-i-o printer where the scanner didn't work when the cartridge was empty.

        • +6

Then you're lucky to not have any experience with those that does. Brother is one of those companies that made some of them that way.

        • Lots of Canon & Epsons are like this, it's very common practice to ensure cartridge sales. IIRC it was mentioned in a previous post for this model as well.

        • +3

Even for brother inkjets these days—that is the newest generation of mfcs. You can trick the printer into thinking there is ink by taping the clear window in the cartridge. I love brothers. =)

        • I bought a different All in One from Dell last time when they had it on sale for around $10. I never put the cartridge in and it scanned fine.

        • +1

Hey, it'll be nice if it does; but just follow the age-old credo & you won't go wrong "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst!" ;)

        • +4

My Canon MP610 doesn't allow scanning when 1 ink cartridge runs out.

        • TScott - in a brotherly way, I hope.

      • +9

Scanner won't work if catridge is empty?

        WTF….

        • +9

Don't worry, it was a WTF moment for me as well when I discovered that my old Canon MP830 wouldn't scan without all 5x ink tanks being read as full! :s

    • +1

The Wifi version works when ink is empty, so this will likely work as well.

  • I don't need it, but meh why not?

  • now what, need new cartridges for my Canon printer. Do I just buy this one?

  • OP, is this deal public (for everyone) or only intended for you (by accessing the link in the email)?

    • Everyone, I cannot identify any "user-specific" words in the URL

      People have purchased it anyways

    • There was no link in the email. After getting this email I simply went online and spotted this discounted price as being public, so posted it here.

  • +1

I bought it , 2 x knock off black inks for $13 on ebay. Will do for black text action for me

    • +1

can you link me to the ink?

      • +3

And maybe think to give me a wink

        • +3

these rhymes are really starting to stink

        • u think?

        • I need a drink!

        • is it pink ?

      • I bet you'll find some on Bing.

  • Thanks OP. Bought mine. Was tempted to get a few but 1 will suffice :)

  • just paid $15 for ink cart… damn!

  • +1

do not really need one, but for 9, what can I say

    • on the same boat mate, now not even sure if my room have any space.

  • Deal of the century. Thanks for the heads-up OP!

      • +3

These printers are awful. I had one of these and probably used it a total of 4 times before it ended up in my garage.

    Problems like:

    1. Paper jams whenever the paper tray had less than 40 sheets of paper in it

    2. The firmware is borked — USB mass storage printing doesn't work and the printer reboots whenever a USB media is inserted

    3. It takes around 2 full minutes for the printer to start printing from a cold boot.

    4. The printer drivers - does not remember your preferences for colour or B&W printing. The driver seems to troll you by selecting the colour print option ever damn time.

This printer should only be used where it came from — Hell.

    • Did did a quick search (found lots of reported issues) and decided I will give it a miss ( i was on the checkout page). My canon MP270 printer - 1 year old has never had these issues. $9 price $9 value. IMHO

Here is the Amazon review for the Wireless model of this printer:

        http://www.amazon.com/Dell-All-in-One-Wireless-Printer-V313W…

My suggestion: not worth your time, although it is good value for money don't think about using this printer on your work machine. Give it to your kids, your grandma, your arch-nemesis or the boss that you hate so much at work, but for gawd's sake don't use this machine for any important work. It will make you cry.

  • Also, look at the Q&A, quite helpful

Great, use StarThere to get another 5% cash back which makes it 45cents cheaper.

    • OZ-b of the day.
      You keep this site's reputation.

    • That's just insulting. You're a bad person lol.

    • I got 63c back ;-)

  • On site this is the $9 one : http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&c…

The WiFi one : http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&c… is $79, unless you know something that isn't on Dell's site?

BTW, good quality refill ink here : http://www.inkjetwholesale.com.au/products/productsview.php?… for a decent price.

  • +23

Have no use for one whatsoever, but in the true Ozbargain spirit I did not let that get in my way.
I think the WiFi model is the V313W, however. But doesn't matter.

    • +1

      LOOOOL same here !!!

      • Me Too :-)

        • After all we are still ozbargainers. LOL!!!!

  • +3

cheers OP bought one, needed a scanner. See how that works out

  • Anyone else having trouble adding it to cart?

    • Nope…working alright.

    • I had the problem with Chrome. I temporarily switched to Opera.

  • Successfully Purchased thanks OP :)

  • SHOULD I BUY ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE IT'S SO CHEAP ???

    • In my Order acknowledgement it says, Get $20 Cash Off - One Unit Per Customer (Ends Thurs, June 28) !.

    • +1

i didnt have to pay for delivery

    • +1

      Edit: Beaten

Sure is. I think pretty much everything from Dell is free delivery?

  • +9

Although I have a printer already, this should save me from buying more ink for a little while. Thanks OP!!

EDIT: When the ink is done you can apparently get Dell to pick it up and recycle it for free…

"Dell offers industry-leading free and fee-based programs for consumers. We pick up and recycle any Dell-branded equipment for free, nationwide. We also recycle non-Dell equipment when you buy certain new Dell personal computers and provide paid recycling services for any brand equipment."

    • +3

      Good catch!

$9 to have Dell loan me a printer till it runs out of ink, and then take it away when I'm done?

      Bargain!

  • Bought one,thx!

  • Thanks OP, I just grabbed one :-)

  • +1

In my Order acknowledgement email at the bottom it says,
Technical difficulties are temporarily preventing us from calculating the final price of the system you have chosen. Please proceed with your order and a Dell Representative will call you shortly to confirm your final purchase price. If you are not happy with the final purchase price you will be given an opportunity to cancel your order, without obligation, before your order is finalised.
    Don't know what that means.

    • I was concerned about this at first but I received an order confirmation email just now so it should be alright I guess.
