  • Has been eyeing on an OLED for so long. Currenlt with the g3223 and honestly couldnt fault it but always wanted a pure black. Should i pull the trigger?

oh dear with EDU pricing it comes down to $933.06

      • BANG!

For gaming use or productivity use?

You can probably wait for a deal on a “gaming” 4k 240hz, although at this price, those likely won’t have USB-C. Depends on what you’re looking for.

      • mostly Netflix when the kids are slept.
I am not much into gaming but just want to have the 120hz so got the g3223 when on sale.

I also heard that OLED are bad for text, how bad is it though?

        • These 4k panels are alright IMO. I use a 4k 27” at 100% scaling and it’s fine on those. It’s a bit worse on the 32”, but not something you notice unless you squint.

Can you sell me your g3223 if you buy the OLED?

      • +1

I only use my monitors for work (reading/writing/coding). Have been with a 4K 27" (U2720Q) for 5 years and have no complaints about it except the texts are a bit small (on a Macbook I set the internet screen to show max estate, while the 27" monitor to the 2nd to max), hence I think a 32" should be better.

Should this S3225QC be a good choice for me? Power+signal over USB-C is a must for me, that's why I didn't buy G3223Q. I also didn't like the panels on the wide monitors S342xD - not sure whether because of the lower resolution or panel type (VA). The other option I have considered is the U322xQ, their price is also around the $900 mark.

        Thank you.

I still wouldn’t get an OLED for work due to burn in, especially work with a lot of static elements on screen. Monitors Unboxed’s burn in video is a good one to watch if you’re considering OLED.

          • +1

@jpeg-jpg: yea mate that's another concern for me as well.
The Burn In thingy looks to be the worst nightmare still.
Don't wanna spend the money and the monitor won't last ≥2 years

        • +2

I use a lot of software with too many static toolbars I personally feel an OLED is just not worth the trouble.

      • Annoys me how many OLEDs are aimed at gaming, give me a nice one for productivity use. I don't care about 240Hz (even when I do game). I know some people say OLEDs are a bad choice for productivity, I don't care, I want one.

2 inch chin bezel in 2025

    • +6

It's a speaker - and looks to be a decent one at that.

Maybe understand the subject matter when trying to be a smartarse.

      • Yep, I would actually like a speaker on mine so it's a positive for me. Who cares if it has a big chin, I can take the stupid speakers off my desk.

    • Someone's been watching too many smartphone reviews.

    • I think this is in their new 27 Inch models as well

At the discounted price of 1199, is it better to just pay the extra and go with the other listed deal for the HP Omen qd OLED monitor 240hz? Primarily it is for work use but the price difference makes it seem like worth the extra to get the OMEN that covers more bases?

  • Thanks OP.. came to $923 with my EDU discount.

Might get a further $25 back via TCB.. thanks to bargainsgrabber's comment

I now have $25 dell rewards.

Seems like a good deal, and just the specs/price I've been waiting for.

  • Hmm Do I get this or wait for something better..
    I want 4k and oled, I have a rtx5080 build, is 120hz enough ?
80% gaming and this is at the max end of my budget
    Decisions decisions

    • I was so close to order it but didn't like the large bezel for the speaker. Still deciding if I should get it for wait for something better.

    • +2

depends on what kind of games you play, i only play single player games with graphics as high as can be, so generally i have no need for frame rate higher than 75.
really impressed by the built-in speakers, if you dont have a dedicated audio device or budget or space, id say this is probably the best value 4k oled before next year, i prefer these speakers over high frame rate and more input ports in the alienware line

  • Mine arrived today, when playing audio has a buzzing sound coming from the right-most speaker. Anyone else with the same issue?

    • mine did not have this issue

      • Thanks for the feedback, I've initiated a replacement with Dell. A bit painful over the WhatsApp chat

    • yeh i had no issues.. I would have tried a different cable/source if it only occurs with audio.

      good luck eh

    • btw all: new firmware was released a couple of weeks ago.

  • Anyone want my Samsung 32" OLED so that i can go with this? I think i regret not getting one with USB-C and the speakers would have been nice
