ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

I have a better idea - How about someone who had read the 9pages could simply direct me to where it said the earphones are only available with the E531. That's called being helpful. Instead of the kboard warriors just going around negging posts.
I keep forgetting this place is full of bullied schoolkids who were born in the 'like' era.

There you go, here's another one to NEG. Good way to build up your shattered self esteem.

Just LOOK at the configs people are posting and options everyone's experimenting on.

I have a better idea - How about someone who had read the 9pages could simply direct me to where it said the earphones are only available with the E531.

Sure, then we'd have another 9 pages of comments and replies with people requesting quick answers, simply because they haven't bothered to read ANYTHING.

        • -5

Are you serious? That post doesn't say anything about the earphones not being available with the E330.

I skimmed through the pages BEFORE asking the question as nothing had jumped out at me.

So people are happy to post a whole bunch of shit in response to my NEG comment where one helpful post saying that the earphone option isn't available with the E330 would have sufficed and taken up a lot less space.

Since you seem to have READ all 10 pages. Please direct me to a post that says someone got an earphone with the E330. Thanks.

Mate, first page AGAIN, posted YESTERDAY, three hours after posting the deal
I never said anyone got $1 in-ears (down from $99, they're in-ears not the $20 earphones) with the E330. It was pretty obvious that the $1 in-ears didn't exist with the E330 configurations, only with the E531 configurations. Why were you trying to replicate a non-existent configuration that no one has posted up? Using a brain to look for patterns helps. :)

        • -2

No it's not pretty obvious. I wasn't about to go through every configuration on 10 pages!! I asked a simple question and a simple answer would have been, it's not available on E330, case closed, instead of all this rubbish.

Cwongtech helped you out even after you spent a full 5 hours sooking about it. Pull your head in and be grateful anyone gave you the time of day.

the only thing worse than passive-aggressive neggers is getting all worked-up over passive-aggressive neggers. ;)

  • no wrong screen

    • Its the screen that reduces the price by $176, for some reason its still black but that's cool

  • If I want to use this mainly as a HTPC, would upgrading the GPU be worthwhile or is intel 4000 graphics fine for 10-20gb 1080p rips and 1080p 3D rips.

On some forums online I've read people have not experienced smooth playback with these kind of files on the 4000 alone. Anyone here have any experience with this?

    • Should be fine

    • As far as processing power goes the HD4000 is plenty for 1080.

Ivy's HD4000 or anything earlier can't do 23.976Hz playback properly, mostly it will only drop a frame every four minutes so depends how anal you are, also depends on how much (typically American) 23.976Hz content you have.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24p#23.976p

      • Thanks CH and tho760

  • If you upgrade the video card option does it then have onbooard video intel 4000 and the 2gig nvidia card and use either when required. And is the keyboard backlit.

  • Does anti glare mean matte? I've got an Acer 8473T (i5) with a matte screen which I love because I can use it direct sunlight.

    • Yes it does.

  • I was looking for 14" models and came across this one:
T430s with i5-3320 14" HD+ 500GB and BT for $1314.36. Worth it? Or I can find better on other brands?

EDIT: I think E431 would do as well but not sure about reviews.

  • Hey there, one more quick question. When you are buying a gaming laptop or a laptop for playing high-end games is the RAM important?

I mean for CPU we said it would not make a huge difference between i3 and i5 here so what about the difference between 4gb and 8gb, would it be a big difference?

    • +2

Its all about the GPU, and a balanced combination of the right CPU/GPU. 8gb Ram will make little or no difference over 4gb in most circumstances.

      • +1 to Coops, buy the GPU upgrade is all you need + i5 should be fine. this gpu is pretty sick actually pretty nearly on par with 650m for speed and less power used

i dont know about edge screens for gaming, i always found them a bit dull for video, thought their good quality screens otherwise. wont matter if your using external ofcourse.

        • Yeah but can we play diablo3 or call of duty in 4gb ram is it going to be smooth?

I mean I thought option 3 was the best option to go with because i3 & i5 does not affect much the performance of the game or the laptop but thought it has to be 8gb as 4gb sounds too low?

          option 1

          Ram:4gb, i3, GPU:740M

          option 2

          Ram:4gb, i5, GPU:740M

          option 3

          Ram:8gb, i3, GPU:740M

          option 4

          Ram:8gb, i5, GPU:740M

or can we buy separate parts later say from MSY and install for a much cheaper price?

        • forget buying ram from lenovo… its too damn high!

i reckon the i3 with the gt740 should do most games at HD medium to higher detail ok

if you do not want to pay $140 for the gt740, research how well the hd4000 handles games

it does some good, some not so good

        • Ok thanks for the info!

  • ordered one E330 i5. their online sales rep was saying E330 stock is very low and will be sold out soon.
you can put the rep# at checkout too, to secure your order

    • rep# ensures order commission goes to the rep! :)

      • +1

not sure if they still can afford any commission out of this sale :-)

        • Perhaps the loss will go to the rep instead then :)

        • Why bother giving the rep any commission when you can earn 3.5% cashback through sites like StartHere? ;)

  • Can't decide buy E330 or E531, I do not need them both…

    • Easy - if you need a handful, you buy the e330 or else you need more than a handful!

    • +1

      Portability vs power.

E330 base model will give lower graphics performance but is 13" and weighs about 1.8kg whilst the E531 uses a 15" screen and weighs at 2.3kg (I think). E531 also has a better graphics card and has a DVD burner.

      • +1

well, I think as a student, E330 is better for me, thx

    • +3

i don't need a laptop as well but only able to resist it for 12 hours.

At the end, i chose E531 because i already have a iPad and 2 10' android tablets

  • +1

I feel sad for dipping into the savings, but I know I would regret it more if I don't buy it. My e320 I got last year has been great until this deal came along!

    • Sell your old one.

    • You'll regret it more if you don't buy more.

  • I'm another victim…err… benefactor! :)

  • Hi I bought this deal yesterday & paid through 28 Degree MC, even after receiving confirmation mail from lenovo no money has been deducted yet.Is any one else in same situation?

    • My was deducted straight away as I got a sms from 28 degrees saying if this transaction is fraud and I replied with to authorise the payment

    • Yes, paid with the same card but went through PayPal. On my Paypal the payment still shows up as pending.

  • Fortunately PayPal failed for me, gave me a chance to catch myself and cancel. Great deal though.

Sad to miss out on the $1 earphones though.

    • +5

I missed your post, thanks for pointing it out. One more neg.

    • -1

the laptop cost $337. You are selling it for $499.
If you are not about the profit as you said you are, then you would only put this up for $380 max.

      • -3

Umm that's not my posting it is someone else.

        • ok my bad, But why would any one buy the laptop from you when they can get it from lenovo for the same price with the option of a headphone for $1 if they want to.

        • +1

because those "any one" does not about Oz Bargain

      • If you are selling on ebay you have to sell it for around $380 to break even. 9.9% to ebay 2.3 % to paypal / ebay. If he sold it for what he got it for for a local private sale both people end up winning. Definitely not when ebay is the middle man.

Greenspoon - what is your Plan B (for instance all Orders gets cancelled Monday when someone looks at it! and it has happened to me, including part order cancelled because item was not available)?

  • -2

The prices listed do not include GST do they?

Receipt shows total at $345.60 for my E330

    • +1

      Mine does:

      Subtotal $306.00
      Shipping $0.00
      GST $30.60
      Stamp duty $
      Total $336.60

        Shipping $0.00
        GST $31.42
        Stamp duty $
        Total $345.60

Don't know why there's a difference. I paid with Amex. Did you select the middle option?

I guess I should've been more clear, this is for 531, but just wanted to point out the gst part which you were missing to begin with.

  • My PayPal status is still pending since yesterday, but I got the confirmation email, so should I place another order or wait?

    • +1

Wait… unless you're willing to possibly pay/receive 2. Still pending here too.

  • I'm slightly concerned mine's still only at processing, fingers crossed.

  • 24 hrs since I ordered, so thought it'd be a good idea to check the spec
As a non-Lenovo owner, can someone tell me what "Lenovo OneLink Technology" means?
(It's listed in the I/O Ports)

    • Got it! It's some kind of Lenovo branded (read : Expensive) external connectivity dock

      • this i'm ambivalent about

i have a few lenovos and they all use the round barrel plug

this doesnt, it uses this new square mac style plug that has usb and hdmi passthru

  • Thanks OP.
Got ThinkPad Edge E330 for my wife.
    Happy days.

  • Here's another question
Can Lenovo owners tell us how much bloat ware these ship with?
Can't be as bad as Toshiba surely?

    • not that bad actually, lenovo arent a consumer commericial company like dell or hp

but i usually get sick of it all and do a clean install

    • +1

seriously, it is that important? you can always uninstall those bloatware.

  • Bought one :)

  • any reviews of the headset?

    • +7

Do you need reviews for a $1 headset?

  • +7

I bought two base model E531 Express's (with the screen upgrade of course!)for my partner and daughter and got myself an upgraded E531 with an i5 and the Nvidia card for myself (along with 3 sets of the head phones!). I payed via bank transfer and it was all excepted and the money is gone.

I left the rest as standard figuring it to be cheaper to upgrade SSD's RAM etc separately.

Perfect timing as I'd been scouring ozbargain for the last few days for a good laptop deal as I need a new one :)

Christmas is coming early :P (Until the next awesome deal like this at least!)

    +1000000000000000 to the OP!

  • Is it too late to order one now you reckon? Saw this yesterday but had no need for one but starting to regret not ordering one now :(

So its confirmed to be genuine and not a pricing error now?

    • Hasn't been confirmed yet at least I haven't seen anything.

      • There is an earlier post from someone that spoke to a support person who said that all these sales would be honoured … if that means anything.

    • +1

Take a punt nothing to lose

      • Surely they would of fixed this by now if it was a mistake?

It would cost them lots of $$$ just to inform everyone that it is an error and to refund everyone, Might aswell send them.

  • +1

What have I done? I only bought a new laptop less than 3 months ago. And I am very happy with it. I am sure that I will find a use for this. Looking forward to a FHD screen.

I have always thought that Lenovo's were ugly but I guess the price makes up for that.

    • +2

      You have been ozbargained!

      • +1

Indeed I have been ozbargained. Hard to resist a bit more tech. At least we are not alone.

  • Just bought an E531 with the ear buds - unbelievable deal… all for 426. Thanks OP!

    • LOL I think you paid too much ;P

      • I think they bought the i5, 500gb hard drive with the ear buds. Price is spot on

  • +1

bought one, but is still tempted to buy another

    • Ditto!

    • +2

i ended up buying another today

Had to make a new order as the other ones were bank deposit and realized my credit card gives me 1 year free extended warranty and AE points

  • Upon confirmation of my order I would like to purchase an SSD for my new e531, any bargains?

    • seriously, I'd say not a "big difference"
