Canon EOS 70D + 18-55 IS Lens $1274.15 @ JB Hi-Fi + 15% off All Cameras

120

Hi All,

long time reader, first time poster

The Canon 70D w/18-55mm IS STM lens is for sale in JB hi-fi for $1499 - pretty cheap compared to Ted's and HN. For this weekend only, JB have 15% off cameras, bringing the grand total for the 70D kit to $1261! $1274.15 I tried to price match at the local HN so I could use my AMEX without getting stung the surcharge but HN were out of stock and couldn't perform the deal.

They were out of stock of the Canon 10-22mm lens but the sales rep was prepared to do a deal for me.

If anyone going abroad in the next 60 days and want to upgrade their camera, this is worth a look (so you can claim your GST).

:)

  • Good spot OP, just ordered a Canon S110 at $254. The next cheapest local stock is ~$330.

    • Yeah, got a second S110 today for myself and also got the difference refunded between the $299 I paid last week and the 15% off price. Nice win.

BTW, this case will fit the S110 perfectly with room for a spare SD card and battery too.

One of the posters got the item for $2 and supplied a docket.

  • I picked up a Canon 50mm f1.8, $113, down from $129. Not sure if that was officially part of the sale but that's the price they gave me after I asked.

Where did you get $1261 from?
from their website looks a little different jb hifi link
    $1274.15 delivered which is 15% off $1499

Actual price would be better in the title.

  • A Bargin at that price, I bought mine on release day from digidirect.com.au its a fantastic camera. I'd suggest updating the title with the sale price though.

and for those who buy this Camera… i recommend Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 :D match made in heaven.

    • +1

      getting that … :_D

    • Hadn't heard of that one - very nice. Shame about the ~$900 price tag though!

    • I didn't believe you can get a zoom at 1.8. Amazing. However this is a wide angle zoom and will not be much use if you want to zoom in even a little bit eg taking head shots of even two people. 35mm on crop = about 50mm and not at all useful. Even the stock lens goes to 55mm => about 80mm.

      • Yeh, it's quite new and out of stock at most places. Cheapest price I can find is about $67X.

Rumor says that Sigma might release a 24-70mm f2.0 nex year!

  • Anyone buying anything other than a 3 or 4 digit Canon (1100D.. or 650D..), won't be happy with the 18-55 lens. It's OK for free but is not very good either re quality or zoom. Don't recommend primes either, you will never use it. Glass is more important than the camera, which are basically all basically very similar re ISO.

    • Sorry, but have to disagree when it comes to a fast cheap prime like the 50mm for ~$100 - excellent for low light indoor/night shots instead of using the awful popup flash.

      • You get a flash that bends in the middle and point it up and backwards a bit and see how it compares to a prime. If you have lots of time and want to do arty photos with bokeh etc then ok, primes are good, but then you have to crop the photo if doing a head shot etc and change lenses etc and big pain etc. Don't think the average user does that stuff.
