  • Where did you obtain this voucher?

Ps - I had this beer in when I was in Mexico years ago. It is well worth $10 for a 6pack.

I got this as well. The voucher was in a link in an email from the BWS Mates mailing list.

Might have to pick some up for the long weekend :)

BWS issue one of these each month. Despite this I found that at my store they had never seen one of the vouchers before. Because it was printed they were a bit wary at first. The fact that when they scanned the barcode and it came up on the register as "Beer of the month voucher" and reduced the price to $10 still wasn't enough to convince them. I think in the end they only gave it to me because a queue was forming.

As for the beer: it's not bad. I tried it in a selection pack from Woolworths which had some of these, some Dos Equis amber and some Sol. It was probably not as nice as the Sol, but definately still drinkable.

they had never seen one of the vouchers before….they only gave it to me because a queue was forming.

Grab their name off their nametag & tell them "I will be reporting you personally to Wesfarmers CEO, Mr. Richard Goyder, as well as Department of Fair Trading & ACCC. You have no right to refuse to sell me a genuine, legitimate offer."

Wesfarmers Ltd. owns all BWS outlets:

      • alex this offer is an invitation to treat. it is not binding.

        • True.

But threatening the staff member at the till might make him actually DO HIS JOB and stop being a smart arse.

      • Wesfarmers owns 1st Choice, Liquorland & Vintage Cellars.
BWS is owned by Woolworths (the opposition). BWS Mates is worth subscribing to if you want to try the odd six pack of a (usually) international beer for $10.

        • So with Alex's threat they might them just laugh and say go ahead, since its the CEO of the opposition.

BTW had this in Mexico quite a few years ago, a nice drop. BUT with all imported beer, it comes in by container ship and the exposure to heat etc affect's the flavour, so it wouldn't be as good as it was in Mexico, although its probably shipped around Mexico in open and heat affected trucks, so maybe not

    • Marlboro Man,
When did you buy the Woolworths beer selection pack? Do you know whether it is still available and where to buy it?
I have been looking for it recently, but had no luck.

      • I got a wonderful 12-pack of mixed beer from BWS.

        Found some info on it:

The Beer Bible is OK but nothing you couldn't get from the internet.

You should be able to walk into most discount liquor stores and put together a similar pack for around $30-$40.
Since your buying 12 beers, they may even give you a discount.

I recently got a 12-pack from Dan Murphys which had 4 Dos Equis, 4 Dos Equis Amber, and 4 Sols. Cost was $19.99
That's how I know Sol is slightly better than Dos Equis.

        Hope that helps.

      • A while ago now. I'm also pretty sure it was an exclusive to Woolworths group.

    Drinkable beer, similar to Sol.

    • Drinkable but Sol is a bit better.

  • You can get 2x6p of Pure Blonde or similar for $20 at Dan Murphy's on any given week without the need for a voucher. So not a great deal imo but ok if you only want 6.

I think the whole point is that this isn't one of those bland, gassy, tasteless local beers.

  • just got back from BWS. used the voucher to get 4 six packs for $40. The cartons of Dos Equis were going for $65 on special. Thanks so much for the voucher…

  • Dos Equis - Three Horse Piss!

horrible beer, not worth $10 a six pack.
