RRP = $40 = 50% off = bargain
2L is the same volume as a 6-pack, with less packaging, so should be cheaper…
Who would pay $160 for a slab of Asahi ???
a 6-pack is less than 2lt
Who would pay $160 for a slab of Asahi ???
No one.
I wouldn't pay $40 or $20 for this can but that's beside the point. Someone will - that's why they sell it. This isn't a slab. You are comparing different items and making false price comparisons.

Just because 'someone' would pay that price, does not make it a bargain.
@jv: Wait a minute. What pack size are you comparing it with? By your calculation I’m assuming you’re using a 330ml can size to base your opinion on.
6 x 330ml = 1980 ml = 1.98L
What if it’s a 375ml can?
6 x 375ml = 2250 ml = 2.25L
How about those dinky little 250ml cans that wine coolers have been appearing in for a while?
6 x 250ml = 1500 ml = 1.5L
Of course, you could also use the giant 440ml cans that European beers often come in.
6 x 440ml = 2640 ml = 2.64L
Or, one of my favourite domestic brews even comes in 500ml cans (do check out their brewpub in Hobart if you ever visit, the beer is much fresher from the tap and the food is rather nice as well).
6 x 500ml = 3000 ml = 3.0L
In short, if you’re gonna cast aspersions on someone’s deal then please get all your facts straight first.
What if it’s a 375ml can?
They cost more.
Exactly! Hence why your original comment was ambiguous (at best) or even misleading (at worst). So, again, when calling a post into question please state the correct facts to keep the discussion on-topic.
Unless, of course, your original intention all along was to deflect the discussion away from discussing the original post based on its individual merits. In which case you're doing a sterling job!
In the image in the original post - 135mL cans in the 6 pack… 810mL total.
Ah! Yet another pack size. That's what my complaint revolves around. Which six pack is being compared here? That wasn't stated, thus a casual reader of the comments would be misled and wouldn't be able to make an informed decision whether the original deal was worthy of consideration or not.
@Chazzozz: A reader interested in a "beer bargain" (which if you're discussing informed decision making. Hello uninformed reader this is absolutely clearly not a bargain), in australia, would, at the very least, know a 6 pack, in Australia, refers to the standard pack of 6 cans or glass bottles that are 330ml each.
With 330ml being the standard beer beverage size for approximately one standard worth of alcohol, assuming a ABV of 3.5%, which seems to be the standard strength for Aussie beers.
OP = cheapiechips
Quick, defensive commentor = Minimum-Chips
Nice try, OP, nice try..
Not me. I would use my own ID. Like now.
Seems a reasonable assumption but this is a coincidence - well spotted though.
Because they are usually double that price.
So a Harvey Norman mattress for $9999 dollars "discounted" to $4499 for a "closing down sale" is a bargain?
The same mattress that isn't worth $3000 on a good day?
Amazingly I'm siding with jv. ozbargainers need to smash their brain cells together and separate advertising from bargains. We are all schmucks that will get sold anything, that much is true, but we will only get sold when it's clearly within the realm of being defined as a bargain.
Also 2L containers of beer are way less convenient. And they're not keg sized for use in a pub/bar. So I'm not sure who the market is? 16 year olds showing off to their friends the new overpriced Japanese doohickey they obtained?
The double price is what others sell for. Maybe you need to go to a different site and ozbargain.
135ml cans!?
WTF?
Kids version
Japan sell all kinds of sizes from 135ml to 3L. They really cover all bases.
I was going to say "2L cans!? WTF?".
We clearly have very different ideas of what an acceptable beer can size is 😃
The are really an aluminium bottle with a screw top lid.
They're the morning shot cans before you get started for the day.
Barely 6 of their 500ml silver bullets….would be pretty fun to drink a carton of these, you could crush a whole beer in 1 go each time.
Apparently in North Qld some of the oldies still drink a Pony of beer…. 140ml
Stops the beer getting hot. Reasonable things in the topics.
Now I'm intrigued about the topics you mention. Hard to find reasonable things these days…
Would be fairly impressive to smash a 2ltr on your own and not be disappointed by the second half of it being a little warm.
But hey, perhaps i just need to up my game.
That’s why the 135ml are good, never gets warm.
I used to drink Heineken mini cans, perfect because they stay cold. Only downside is you have to drink Heineken.
Only downside is you have to drink Heineken
That is a disproportionately large downside in comparison to enjoying a cold beer. Lol
I remember VB had tiny stubbies too..like 200ml or so. That would have been late 80s or early 90s..
I have a few of these in the freezer ready for action. Great if you don't like adding ice.

You really need one massive stubby cooler. Maybe a kids wetsuit?
Breakfast sorted. Thanks OP.
Don't chew the can … XD
Why is that a bargain?
