if you are choosing between this and Sunbeam's 'bang bang', pick this instead. Both are similar sized, but Sunbeam's has a removable rubber ridged rim, which prevents the grounds from completely sliding out when you empty it.

I have given up the bangbang for the Grindenstein instead, best move I've ever made. Its small size dictates that I empty it frequently, thus avoiding a mouldy discovery that develops when I did use the Bang Bang (its size allowed me to go for days without emptying). Also saved me a lot on counter space, as it fits nicely under my group head, compared with the Bang Bang which practically took up enough real estate for another grinder.

Dreamfarm Grindenstein Grinds Bin - Black for $22.95 at HN. pickup though

    • when I put the HN Grinds Bin in my cart it is no pickup, Online Only and $10 postage.

Trouble with the Breville one is it is quite large. But a very good price.

    • I like the smaller size, but is it too small? More colours and cheaper delivery (for me) here if your local HN don't stock it:

    • Love the grindenstein! A great size for the smaller kitchen set up like mine.

  • I have this, and it is pretty decent, it's solid and works as one might expect. However, I would probably choose the smaller Grindenstein over something this. The obvious reason is that the smaller one is easier to store in the kitchen. The not so obvious reason is that the larger bins don't encourage you to empty them frequently, and the coffee grounds can start to get mouldy because of the residual moister. Since the Grindenstein would fill up more quickly this would be less of an issue. So give this a pass IMO

    • Just reading up on the Grindenstein. Is it too small, too light, and too easy to splatter grounds around?

  • I've always just used the drain, never had an issue either. My house isn't a cafe after all .

Yeah why can't you just discard the coffee in the bin or use it as compost?

      • You still can, this is just a convenient thing to use while making your coffee.
No reason you can't empty this into the compost afterwards.

    • I've always just used the drain, never had an issue either. My house isn't a cafe after all .

We had a pipe block up a few years ago because of putting them down the sink.

  • An empty can of Spam has exactly the right opening size for coffee grounds. Cannot really justify $39 for something essentially used once a day as a small bin.

    • But an empty can of spam will either not endure the knocking of your group handle, or damage your group handle.

Knocking directly into a compost bin is unhygienic, throwing into the sink is not good long term for your plumbing.

  • I'll be taking the risk with regard to plumbing, 10+ years of drain disposal without issue .
