The bears thing is the complete truth. Or something.

      • +2

For sure. They protect you from bears by helping you run faster than your friend.

  • +7

You know you're getting old when these shoes actually look better than the clothes from Topman. ;)

    • +8

You'll be sporting Crocs on formal occasions in no time, StewBalls!

  • +1

minimum order is $20 or more.

    Interesting tags….

    • tra-la-la all the way!

  • +8

We bought some of these at a previous rivers sale. Never went off the footpath & after 2mths the soles got spoungey ,by 4mths I had a hole in the toe. 6mths the laces broke & I binned them. good for mowing shoes I suppose, but I wouldn't go hiking in them

    • +13

You're only suppose to wear them when you see a bear

    • +12

I tried mowing in these, all it didn't was flatten the grass. Utter crap

      • +7

you'll never cut your neighbours grass in these

    • Same here Supabrudda.,,, after the 3rd pair of shoes from Rivers that fell apart after light wear I swore to never touch their junk again. Total garbage.

  • +1

Hiking shoes - are you sure?
They look like those gimmicky air pockets in the soles. Front and rear connected so it rocks.
Not much fun when it works, and worse when the air inevitably leaks.
    I'd rather wear KT26s :)

    • +13

That's the section they're listed in, because Rivers don't have a "Cheap Crap" section. The have a Rivers store.

        English motherf#cker?

  • +1

Had to click just to see how ugly. Disappointed that they are not as ugly as anticipated, however made up for by the tags. Tra-la-la? LOL

    • +7

In my defense I forgot that the tags get re-ordered alphabetically. When I wrote it it looked like: skipping, holding hands, tra-la-la. Which, uh, is… I have no idea where I was going with this.

      • +4

        we need more tra-la-la deals

    • +1

I promise you they'll be ugly in real life. I swear Rivers use buggy fashion design software.

  • +2

Remember when throwing these at the bear aim between the eyes ;-)

  • +1

They'll protect bears from your feet ;)

Why sponsor a (alleged) serial sexual harasser? Among the accusations were panty sniffing, inappropriate child photography and more. One sick puppy.

Also, Rivers are one of only two major Australian retail chains who WON'T sign the agreements regarding safe work practices in India etc (the Just Group is the other. Mr. McInnes, you're in great company with Mr. Goodman).

Wow… that's… actually quite shocking. I've no idea how he still has his money/job/company… looks like he just paid them all off.

    • +4

Among the accusations were panty sniffing, inappropriate child photography and more.

So that's the secret behind these bear-repellent shoes. They're pedobear approved?

      • Ah yes panty sniffing…
OK well looks like most of Japan is screwed. They have actual used panty vending machines - seen them with my own eyes.
        Freaky people.

  • +1 for "tra-la-la"

  • Hmm.. I would "really" like to buy some UGLY shoes. What's next, UGLY clothes?

    Are you serious OP?

    • +6

Yes. I am deathly serious. I will fight to the death to defend these Ugly Shoes. They're beautiful… on the inside. By which I mean in their prefabricated souls, not the actual inside of the shoe, which is also ugly.

    • +1

i think you will find Rivers will be able to cater for you in the UGLY clothes department as well.

  • Haha, I did buy the ugly shoes, thanks OP, I think! :)

  • +4

This is a bear necessity. ;)

    • +2

      Old Mother Nature's recipes?

  • +1

    Thankfully I pawsed for thought.
Couldn't bear the thought of owning these.
If you've bought, I hope there's an opt out claws.

  • +1

You can spot someone who doesn't actually go hiking/off road when they care about the look of their shoes

    • +1

Those wallabies can be real fashion nazi's in my opinion…

  • Wow, Anti-Bear shoes, this is the deal of the century! They will come in useful when I go into drop-bear infested territories!

    • Or when being dragged into the gift shop by the wife/girlfriend

      • or when having your boobs grabbed by the Director of the company.

I wonder if they are anti-harassing-boss shoes?

    • +1

      Drop-bears are not true bears!!

Be careful not to make this mistake and be mauled out in the hills of 'straya, when the bear-repellant shoes fail you.

      • +1

If I represented this company, I would state that nobody wearing these ugly bear-proof shoes has ever been eaten by a Drop Bear. But I don't represent this company, so it might be true

  • +2

    U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi, you…

Oh no da'ss right, you does. You Rivers.

    • -1

      What?

  • +1

Non-Leather Upper & Lining, Cement Constructed Rubber/Phylon = great for breeding fungus.

    • +3

Maybe I'll get some for growing mushrooms in then. Definitely not wearing them.

  • +4

The lowest quality footwear you can buy anywhere… Rivers.

    • +1

Made at the same factory as KMart, BigW, Target… and the list goes on. And those shoe stores in shopping centres… is it Payless!? They're only a smidgeon better.

  • -3

Very good shoes for people who on centrelink and the homeless.

    • +4

you got negged by homeless people.

      How do you feel?

  • +1

Agreed after my first two pairs. Sore feet. Then thank god they fell apart.
You can only sell low quality ltems for so long before everyones owned one at some stage.

    • Rivers have had a reputation for causing 'sore feet' for years and years.

Some people have such bad feet problems after wearing Rivers shoes that they need to get orthotics from a podiatrist. I'm not joking - my dad was one who had very bad arch problems only AFTER wearing Rivers shoes for a while.

If you want bad, aching feet, shop at Rivers!

If you are female and like getting your ass touched up and panties sniffed by your boss, work at Rivers! (allegedly)
