Nexus 7 32GB (1st Gen) $208 + Shipping (Approx $7) @ EB Games Online Only

150

Follow up from the previous Nexus 7" 16GB (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116667) at EBGames (which I missed), they have dropped the price of the 32GB. Shipping to 4000 is $7.
At this price it's not a GREAT bargain, but still the cheapest in Oz especially for local stock.
There is no indication on the site that they are refurbs.
I bought one when they were on special at DS and am very pleased with it. 16GB might be a bit limiting but the 32G is good for me with lots of books, music and a few videos.
Note the specs refer to Jelly Bean (4.1), but mine has updated to 4.3.

  • I'd probably nab one if it were the 3G version.

    • I completely agree. At this price, 3G version is preferable.

  • Good price. OW has this listed for $279. Whats so good about having 3g?

Anyone know whats the major difference between the newer nexus and this one?

    • Do I really need to explain the benefits of being able to connect to the internet without having to find a free (or paid, I guess) wifi network?

Here's a comparison of the old and new model: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/tablets/3463254/nexus-7-v…

TLDR; faster, prettier, lighter, rear camera.

      • Thanks. yes I understand the benefit of 3g but wonder how many tablet users really need a 3g connection.

        • +1

Obviously not everyone needs 3g. I was talking about what I want. The I in "I'd" means I'm talking about me.

      • +3

Personal hotspot from your phone if its capable..

  • Tempted because i bought the 16gig for $158 so add $208 =$366 minus tax when i go overseas $36 so really this would cost me $172.

    • To get the GST back do the items need to be in the same receipt?

      • No as long as they are from same store and purchased within 60 days of travel

  • Good price, I paid $320 for my 16GB model when they were new at the Play Store.

If I had extra money I would buy this without thinking twice.

  • How do you rate the screen? Is it that bad as they say on the review? Also why did they do a front facing camera? whats the use in that?

    • It's not incredibly bad, but not great either. Resolution is getting a bit dated, but it's not incredibly noticeable unless you're going straight from a ~300 PPI screen anyway. It is a bit washed out, though.

The front facing camera is pretty much just for video calls. The 2013 model has both front and back facing cameras.

      • +1

If your over 50 you probably wont notice any difference lol.

    • The front camera is used for Skype, Hangout, Viper and other VOIP services that allows video calls!

    • Screen is not great, it's acceptable, but going from my SGS1 or SGS3 to this is a bit disappointing. As stated above it's a bit washed out.
It has great viewing angles though, compared to my missus Acer tablet (I think the A100) which has the viewing angles are like a laptop monitor from 10 years ago.

The Acer beats this in some ways (has a Mini-HDMI port and MicroSD card slot), but performance-wise the Nexus 7 is better.

I wish I had the money to throw away, then I'd have bought the Galaxy Note 8.

  • thanks guys. Sorry for the silly questions :)

  • If you want to connect a usb flash drive you can buy an OTG cable at MSY for $1 and an App on play store for $3.82 called Nexus Media Importer.

  • Warning, my 16gb just stopped working, and I did not use it that much. Will not turn on anymore, no idea what the problem is.
