Sony X30 High-Performance Speaker Dock $34.50 DSE online only (today last day). $99 instore

350

I spotted this last night and put in my order. I got my sms this morning saying item was ready and I now have it at home.

5 star from 3 reviews on Amazon UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-RDPX30IP-CED-RDP-X-30-IP/sim/B0…
Reviewers are all happy with sound quality.

Please note it's only a speaker, it has no built in radio function.

I'm planning to get a cheap bluetooth adaptor and use it to play baby lullabies for our 8mth old
So even if you are on Android you can just whack on a bluetooth unit from eBay and get a nice dock.

Order now and pick up/ pay later. If you decide you don't want it. just cancel your order and you have lost nothing. The deal ends today.

  • No iPhone 5 compatibility :(

if i added that to this dock it might snap the connector.

      • I bought the dock today and now I'm looking for a suitable adapter to suit my gf's iphone 5(it's a gift for her).

I found a better deal for 2 x lightning connectors only $2.50($1.25 each) on ebay :
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/30-to-8Pin-Charger-Adapter-for-iP…

Will it work with this speaker dock , as it says " NOT Support Audio / Video Output"???
If it is only good for charging does this mean she will still need to connect the 3.5mm audio plug to get sound from her phone to the speakers?

    • That's why it's so cheap, they always only discount non iphone5 ones.

    • +1

Or buy a blue tooth adapter, it makes X30 universal.

    • The moshi is very low power. A 2-inch "sub-woofer"!? I don't think they know what that word means.

  • How do you plan using a bluetooth? using a bluetoorth adapter?

    • +3

I'm not the OP but I did the same as he said and got a Bluetooth receiver that sits in an Apple 30 pin connector off eBay. Cost under 10 bucks and works a treat. Even passes track skipping back to my Android music player / Pandora app etc. This was with a different player but just explaining the process…

Doubt a 10W speakers have good sound.

    • +3

Power output has got nothing to do with sound fidelity or clarity.

      • -4

Hardly see any good sound system comes with a half price tag.

        • you are spot on PW, anyone with a discerning ear would not find such portable speakers to be of good quality sound wise, unless you are willing to spend big bucks. better off getting some small desktop monitors.

        • +1

You can walk in and pay full price as OP stated if it makes you feel full price comes with better sound quality. Btw, HN loves customers like you.

    • Did you bother to read the 3 Amazon reviews?
Here are the important bits since you care about sound quality

      Reviewer 1. "good sound quality"
Reviewer 2. "Great sound and really good bass"
      Reviewer 3. "Awesome sound quality"

      • Yeah? I have this dock at work and i think its pretty shit actually. Sound quality is very average. The el cheapo TDK dock that i replaced was probably better. I have the Logitech S715i at home and it absolutely shits all over the sony dock for sound quality.

But for the price, its worth buying if you arent picky on sound quality. It still does the job for me at work.

    • +1

Don't like it after purchase, refund it, simple as that.

      • -1

Wise decision! Those who ordered it most likely get their refund afterward.

    • Sony Muteki 7.2 speaker sets have around 2000 watts RMS power and they sound like crap.

      Wattage means nothing.

      • +1

2012W RMS to be exact… but only when producing 1kHz at 6Ohms with an absolutely disgusting 10% THD and most probably when only powering a single channel to boot! Its realistic power output while producing all frequencies at 8Ohms and much more respectable THD of well under zero percent when running a stereo pair would probably be more like 20-30W per channel which mind you can still blow your mind but of course printing that on the side of the box would result in no sales :(

Good ol Sony marketing! Don't believe the hype, believe your ears! Some of this cheap stuff (including Muteki) can sound pretty decent but it can also sound pretty awful too.

  • Bought one. Cheers

  • Is it only Click & Collect?

  • Another model is Sony RDPX30IP.CEK on Amazon uk, basically same thing according description, got 73 reviews 4.8 out of 5 stars!
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-RDPX30IP-CEK-Speaker-iPhone-Pla…
Thanks op, got one to see how it goes.

    • This is actually the model I was supplied. The website says x30 but my box says RDP-X30iP. Hope that helps

  • damn you ozbargainers!!! (kidding :P)

thanks to OP I find another speaker (LOGITECH S715i Rechargeable Speaker) which has awesome reviews and also half price down from $99 to $49.5. Unfortunately all is gone except for Campbelltown

went ahead an bought Sony S15 super bass one instead. This is similar to X30 but has AM/FM and alarm clock

    • Sony S15 3.5W+3.5W
      Sony X30 10w+10w
      Get what you need.

    • Wow S715i going for $49. Amazing value if you can find one. None in Brisbane.

Bought this 1-2 yrs ago and was quite happy though recently was exposed to a few Bose SoundDocks and had to upgrade to it. S715i was not that far behind except needing slightly more deep bass.

      Cheers.

    • I scored S715i in Top Ryde for $49.50 today. Turns out it does'nt have AM/FM, duh :(

      • I want S715i, do you want sell yours at this price?

        • Sorry, already opened it and started using it.

  • Sold out in Perth. :(

  • Got an Order for Click & Collect at Top Ryde (NSW) and will not be able to collect it before this evening. If anyone would like this, please PM me with your email address and I will forward the Order email. Cheers.

  • Just called the North Sydney DS, they informed me that price has gone back up to $69 and that even if I placed my click&collect order when it was $34.5, I would still need to pay $69 when I picked it up today.

    Is this right?

    • +1

No mate, if you put your order yesterday, they have an order receipt printed that states the price you have to pay as 34.5 I have just picked up mine today from dse sunshine. Just walk in and tell them you have a click and collect order. They'll scan the order receipt and it'll come up as the correct price ($34.5). Hope that helps

      • Thanks mate,

Apparently they are only obliged to offer me the product at the price only if I received a confirmation.

Typical Dick Smith move? Guess I will let this one pass then.

        Cheers

  • i was just told the prahan store i ordered form never had stock… Dicksmith… hate the bastards

  • +1

Picked one up yesterday from Brisbane. Loving it. Its just what I needed to bring my Ipod Classic back to life. Thanks OP. Gotta love ozbargain…

  • Can you who picked up the X30 tell me if the box was fully sealed?

I picked one up for a mate in Winston Hills, but found NO Seal in the box. When I inquired I was told, Sony don't seal their boxes. Everything looked intact, but this is the first time I have come across an electronic product with no seal.

    • Relax. Mine was not sealed either but everything looked perfectly intact inside the box.

      • Ta.

    • Same here. Not sealed but perfect condition
