Buying Games on EA Origin - Mexican proxy/VPN

Having a look at Origin prices around the world, it looks like Mexico is once again the place to buy Battlefield 4.

In AUD in Australia it's about $90 for the digital deluxe version.

The Mexican peso equivalent of $90 AUD will get you digital deluxe + premium.

A saving of at least $40 AUD against the Aussie site. Most other countries are cheaper than Australia, but Mexico looks like the sweet spot.

My only issue is that using a proxy I can get to the checkout screen, but the transaction fails every time I try to buy.

I am using Foxy Proxy and 187.141.66.103:8080

Any thoughts on how to get it to work ??

I just bought bf4+premium through origin mexico.

Followed the instructions from here: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/283265…

"just turn on mexican proxy, go to store.origin.com put those in the basket log in , turn proxy off , enter your credit card and adress, that's it. Legit Origin Copy with all languages.

Before and after change Origin password for security"

Although remember to change the language to English at the bottom of the site to make it abit easier!

I used flyVPN free trialhttp://www.flyvpn.com/freetrial. Use the account vpnu and the password on that page.

Then do what danb says…"just turn on mexican proxy, go to store.origin.com put those in the basket log in , turn proxy off , enter your credit card and adress, that's it."

There was no English in the drop down menu for me so i used Chrome to translate each page.

    • Can confirm working through FlyVPN.

      • Confirmed working through FlyVPN just now - I kept it switched on through the whole process. Only turned it off once it had gone through.

Thanks guys, Mexico worked for me. One hitch to the above instructions is that you must be in Checkout before getting rid of the proxy or you will be sent to the local Au with an empty basket, when you click checkout.

  • Not working for me… just getting invoice failed with flyvpn

  • I also used Firefox + Foxy Proxy, then used proxy-listen.de to find a Mexican proxy server. Worked a treat. BF4+premium for ~$73 :)

In origin checkout, did you folks get a price of $649? I would hate to have that charged to my card :)

    • +3

Was $898 for me (BF4 + premium). That price should be in Mexican Peso so you have to convert it to AUD. Should work out to be around $53 for you

      • thanks! just wanted to make sure they're not going to charge that in AUD or USD. I know origin have a returns policy, but …

  • Works a treat. Just hope the game isn't in Mexican. vaya vaya vaya :)

  • Shopping Cart
    Your Order Details
    INVOICEFAILED

What address are you guys using?

    • Used an aussie address and card

  • pre-ordered both for $72 using the above method, thanks! Hope the game turns out to be good, see you guys there!

  • Anyone else get this on their transaction record on their card after paying? PENDING - origin com EA Geneva -$1.30

    • Yep. Four days and counting. Hopefully it should clear soon. I read somewhere that Origin does this for certain cards. How many days has it been for you, and what card did you order with?

12:57AM EDIT: I can't find the official link from Origin's website which states specifically that they place an authorization hold to verify the card's details, but here's a forum reply from a Community Manager in response to a similar issue

      • Ah well that explains it, thanks :) It's only been a day for me. I have a commonwealth bank debit master card

        • Just following up on this Wagzy, the BF4 + Premium deal has now been posted on OzBargain, with people saying that you should be using your real address and not a phony Mexican one.

        • Yeah I used my real address. I'll let you know when something new happens and I can confirm if my card/payment method works. Which I'd say it does as BF4 is in my origin games library :)

        • +1

If it's in your library / you have a confirmation e-mail, you did it correctly. I had to do it twice:

The first time, I used a Mexican address, as per instructions on other discussion boards. This left my account statement with a pending transaction, but no confirmation e-mail or proof that I had purchased the game in-client

The second time, I used my real address. I now have a confirmation e-mail + the preloaded game + another transaction hold on my account.

I assume now that one payment will clear through eventually, whilst the other will bounce back.

        • It seems I have the same problem: I have three pending EA Geneva charges on my Debit Mastercard statement for ~$1.06 each. I was wondering what happened with your two charges?

          Cheers

Alright. First thing's first: Refer to my instructions.

Second. You have charges. Do you have any confirmation e-mail or evidence on your Origin client that you have indeed purchased said games?

If you have no confirmation e-mail, and no evidence on Origin client that you have pre-loaded your games your pending charges will disappear within 5-10 working days, meaning you are completely safe to follow my instructions in the link above.

If, however, you do have a confirmation e-mail and also preload on client, just wait and the authorisation hold will shortly be followed by the full amount of the game.

        • Nice instructions, just making sure though, it actually went through when your billing address was still Australia? That's the only thing worrying me since I've seen some others put their real address but with Mexico rather than Aus, and I'd rather not do that.

        • I put, to the letter, my correct address. Which means I used Australia as the country of origin.

Ah, well the payment went through today so I'm all. Took about 3 days to process and go through.

    • +1

My payment just went through now. So I'm looking at two credit holds and 2 pending payments for 4 and premium. Should be expecting one of the holds to clear up soon. Congratulations on coming through on the other side with the rest of us :)

  • I bought the preorder plus premium last night, went through fine, around $72. Fingers crossed no issues at launch :P

  • We can pre-install tomorrow night XD Get excited!!!

  • Hi just an update, my CBA Amex card was charged and the games shown up in my library as well as email confirmation. When I wanted to preload the game tonight, the games are remove from library and the charge from credit card has gone! Seems they cancelled my order… has anyone got some issues? Thanks!

  • Hey guys,

So I used the flyvpn and manage to get through origin peso mode and purchased the standard + premium membership of bf4 (rounded up to be 895 peso; 73 aud), I'm currently pre loading the game but problem is in my library Iv'e only got Battlefield 4 (and battlefield 3 premium) in my lib, no indication of premium member ship, when I check my purchase/order history it does show the recent bf4 standard + premium purchase but it sall in spanish along with the pricing being in pesos, is that normal? the method i did it was spam flyvpn, finally get in, connect ot mexico, -> origin.com -> browse for the games put in cart -> get to origin id/pw request screen -> close flyvpn /disconnect -> type in origin/pw – > make the payment, note that I closed flyvpn the page remained in spanish, so yeah anyone who purchased via mexican origin getting the same pov as me? or do I need to click the refund button nao

    THanks

    • yes its normal, expansion they combined ie not shown separately, soon you should received email from EA confirming order.

  • Hey: so if you go into origin and navigate to your games, hover over battlefield 4 and click on an "i" in a little box, I thinks the "i" is for information. Now on that next page just below the main battlefield 4 picture you should see at least 5 smaller pictures, they are all the expansion. If you don't see that you can also jump onto the BF4 forums and just leave a reply or post and see if your name has a premium title next to it.

If it's only Spanish in the transaction screen it's fine. You'll also receive Spanish emails stating that the order has been processed and such. You have no worries there.

And in transaction records PESO is fine, mine also shows Sim city in a different currency as well because I used a VPN when that came out to.

Hope you sort it out :)
