    • mate. you are comparing a portable one to an external one…

      • -2

All portable drives are external otherwise they arent portable are they?

    • Rang a few jbhifi

      They wont price match
      Doh

I recently ordered a Macbook Air and received within a week. Was a couple of days delay due to their supplier apparently, but otherwise I'm happy with the service.

    • Since you never dealt with them directly I think its wrong to down vote because of what your friend said. Whats to say you are not a competitor trying to give this company a bad name? Your vote should be voided!

    • +4

      Do you even English?

      • +2

Why do you ask? Is English lumpy?

    • -1

He also heard that some people never get their items.

Who did they hear it from?

      • +1

prob miss slept the address, that's why you and you no English speaking mates never got anything in your imagined reality……

        • +2

          "miss slept". Gold!

        • LOL! I come for the bargains, but stay for the laughs :)

    Is this 2.5" or 3.5"?

  • "portable" so should be 2.5"

    • so is it 2.5?

      • no its 3.5" google the code of the driver, its massive and takes power to run too… pass

        • actually yeah, i did google it. They all say 2.5"
Well i ordered one and i'll tell you how it goes

  • Good price. On the fence since I have so many spare drives already.

EDIT: Ended up biting. Might come in handy if I have a failure.

  • -8

What kind of website listing doesn't list 2.5" or 3.5" on a hard drive. Megabuy at it again.

    • +7

The kind that expects its buyers to be smart enough to understand what portable means.

      • 3.5" is portable…….. :)

      • And half this thread is people asking what the size is and making false assumptions. Good on yourself for being proven wrong.

  • +7

Some people bitch and moan on forums for no particular reason, others do it because they've been taken for a ride by unscrupulous sellers.

Some people haven't had any problems with megabuy, others have…

    www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101567

I wouldn't think that an 11% saving is worth the potential grief but then I'd never place an order with megabuy no matter what price they were advertising.

    • +8

I thought the same thing about an online seller who was really cheap compared to others.I checked Whirlpool, and it had a mix of good and bad reviews. I fave the venefit of the doubt, and bought headphones which turned out to be defective. I was told some crap about stereo echo (one can was 45% quieter than the other) and I ended up raising a dispute through PayPal. Last time I give the benefit of the doubt for such a mix of bad and good reviews

like the time HP dropped the price of Microservers to ridiculously cheap prices and then Megabuy owner came out basically said "haha, you WONT be buying a Microserver from anyone else but us, we bought ALL OF THEM!!!!" and then jacked the prices up so high

will never buy from MegaBuy just out of principle now. ever.

  • AC power or USB powered?

    • +4

      portable. portable. portable.

      • sorry, I accidently negged you. I don't know how to revoke now.

    • +6

      less storage for more?

  • In the description: "Improve PC performance" - Well the statement is true, but I don't think you can use it like that for description

This MegaBuy business makes me want to check out if Officeworks or jb will pricematch. That way you know you're getting a working product straight-away with easily handled warranty.

    • OW will price match if they stock exactly the same model and if MegaBuy has stock…

  • This turned out fugly, good thing I didn't post this… :P

my friend told me his friend's friend's sister's cousin's father's friend's uncle said that this is a great website to buy from

    • my dog told me that this is a great website to buy from xP

  • Was going to pay via bank deposit due to the cc/paypal surcharge but seeing the store's feedback makes me concerned.

  • IMO this is a good deal for the price. However I tend to stay away from wd elements due to bad experience on 2 consecutive drives and had to do some recovery.
My wd mybook is still going strong though ever since I bought them around 5yrs ago.
Having said that, those 2 failed drives were bought almost a year ago and just usb2 so maybe they already made some improvements..

    • I think you were just unlucky tbh. I don't know what sort of turnover you have on drives but the average person buying 1 or 2 every few months isn't really in a position to call reliability across an entire brand's consumer level range.

I mean I've never had a WD fail on me in 15 years but it doesn't mean I call the entire range faultless.

    • Most of what I hear about WDs is that they'll last. Perhaps you were just unlucky.
There was another company that was recommended to me but I don't remember what it was :/

  • Thanks just bought one

    1. wd green from the looks of it, there's always been rumors on wd green drives failing quickly due to the stress from idle spindown and spinup, remember to disable it if possible.

    2. wd's RMA is overseas? postage is a killer

    gl all

    • Just RMA'd a WD drive this week, still in Malaysia, costs ~$30 to ship. Though you should be going through the seller if it has an issue.

      • Raise hell and demand them to pick it up…

  • does portable mean AC power or USB? can't find the details…

    • +2

      USB powered

      • thank you kind person :)

      • THANK YOU for finally answering this, 40 comments later. "Portable" means a lot of different things - just because it's powered, doesn't mean it's not portable to another location. We don't all know what terminology means.

  • Thanks for the deal, taking the chance. I got some EoP adapters from them on a deal a while ago and that worked out pretty well, fingers crossed!

  • what the? shipping seems to be $8.95 for each item, $26.95 delivery for 3… no thanks.

    It is an old model
A bit thick but price is not bad.

  • +2.5% for Visa/MC or Paypal.

  • Is this one with USB connectors soldered to the actual hard drive inside?
A bit getting tired of seeing good portable deals always, while the same internal 2.5" HDDs cost double.
So far, I just surely know Hitachi Touro 1TB ones are normal 2.5" SATA internal drives in the box.
Are there any WD or other 2TB ones cheap with internal SATA (not USB) drives in it?

I want to upgrade my notebook (2 HDD slot+mSata for SSD), do not want to make my notebook spiderlike with all USB drives connected to it. (have a big 2TB external one already for backups).

    • +1

WD 2.5 externals were USB soldered since 2010 I believe

  • +1

Just got mine in the post. Can confirm it is 2.5". Tho is is thicker than the 2.5's i've seen.

  • they cancelled my order, email advising no stock
