  • Great price for the 2TB reds, pity you dont offer combined shipping

    • That's how they can put them up for such a great price.

      • our back end website controls dont let us do below 15.95 unless its fixed, and stacks… I.E 7.95 + 7.95 + 7.95

this problem should die when our new website launches.. (did i say that out loud.)

        • hi Megabuy, it keeps calculating postage on the 4tb to sydney as $12.95 and not 7.95… is it not fixed delivery like whats in the title?

  • That email spam splash on every page load is very frustrating.

    • Do you have cookies on? I only saw the splash once, closed it then didn't see it again.

  • ST4000DM000 - Cheapest StaticIce $195.83 PP.

    N54L Micro-Server - Cheapest StaticIce $259 PP.

    WD20EFRX - Cheapest StaticIce $115 PP.

Seems like a good deal to me.

Not sure how the HP Micro-server costs less to post than one HDD though.

Seagate & Megabuy! Now there's a combination not for the faint hearted!!!!

Hope you weren't silly enough to deal with them too?

I was sucked in my a megabuy deal posted by the same rep once. They happily confirmed the order and debited my card, 3 weeks later when I hadn't heard anything and queried the progress I was given a response along the lines of

Sorry this is a discontinued item. It's better not to buy products that are EOL. Why don't you buy the latest model at 4 times the price. Or now that you're on to us, we could give you a refund or store credit.

      Oh yes, store credit please?!

I would encourage anyone else who has experienced their artful business practices to report them to Fair Trading or your local equivalent.

  • damn i just purchased the N40L deal for $45 less last week, is there a big improvement between the N54L?

    • +2

I think its only the CPU, correct me if im wrong? i wouldnt fret too much. lol

    • N40L 1.5GHz dual core (15W) vs N54L 2.2GHz dual core (25W).

    • Tiny speed bump that you'll never notice but almost double the wattage.

The N40L is the better deal.

  • Are those Seagates 7200rpm?

If so, I am disappointed I loaded up with IT Estate 3gb Hitachi's a week ago…

  • who can ever have enough storage though.. ;)

    5900 RPM - breathe easy…

I'm with Roscoe99, I would recommend to STAY AWAY from MEGABUY!!
I purchased from them more than a month ago, but never received my goods.
Seven weeks later, no refund, no goods, and no replies to my emails.
It seems they only care about getting money from people.
I referred this matter to Fair Trading Queensland now.
The deal might appear to be a good bargain, but it is NOT WORTH IT!! Pay few dollars more but get your bargains elsewhere, seriously.
I am all for supporting local businesses, but not when they don't care about local customers.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Was actually considering buying. Hopefully companies will start to realise they can't get away with this sort of behaviour these days.

  • $235 for N54L is pretty darn good if pickup is available. I might go along and pick one up, If I run into any trouble, I'll just bug the store. XD

Word of caution for those who have not dealt with Megabuy before.

Please read these customer reviews before proceeding.

If you choose to buy from them, you have been warned.

      X2 PLEASE BE CAREFUL GUYS

  • PS.
If you have any problems with MegaBuy I would recommend to refer the matter to Fair Trading Queensland, lodge a complaint there. It may not solve anything right away, but the more people complain the more the government will be aware about dodgy MegaBuy and hopefully something will be done!

must admit, these are great prices, but after dealing with megabuy, i would steer clear of these retailers. it was the usual, charge credit card, no stock for 3 weeks, made up lies, about how it was in stock etc, my rant is on another thread and on the whirlpool pages

  • it's MegaBuy + HP microserver deal = Stay Away!

  • +1

Don't be fooled by the prices, not worth the drama of dealing with these clowns at any price.
Anyone who googles them or reads any relevant forum will find endless examples of disgruntled customers.
They keep stock of virtually nothing and are essentially a dropship company. Great business model, terribly executed. Just hope that after the 3 week wait for your "in stock" product to arrive that you don't have a problem with it.

  • If Megabuy is such a bad place to buy from why the upvotes for their deals and why don't they get banned as a seller on OzBargain?

    Serious question

    • +1

I guess not enough people complain to Fair Trading or ACCC about them, which they should. Hopefully MegaBuy will learn about customer service then.

    • +5

I'm not sure what it takes to ban a dodgy seller from OzBargain but the only reason companies like this can continue with unscrupulous sales techniques is because consumers aren't reporting them.

It took less than 5min for me to lodge a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading and if everyone who has time to post their negative experiences on forums did the same it would save others grief in the future. I don't think a few complaints will get the bureaucrats into action but if everyone who feels they were conned let the appropriate regulating bodies know we might see something change.
