Use code: HPJN20

HP OMEN Transcend Gaming Laptop 14" 3K OLED Ultra 7 255H 32GB 1TB SSD RTX 5060 ($2,719.20): 5060
HP OMEN Transcend Gaming Laptop 14" 3K OLED Ultra 9 285H 64GB 2TB SSD RTX 5070 ($3,519.20): 5070

Apparently this has a higher wattage GPU (greater than the 65W 40xx) running at 75W out of the box.

Very good video on this one here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7O-SN07LXo

  • Anything below $1000?

The Lenovo Legion Go. Great screen, powerful CPU and GPU, detachable controller. You can buy a keyboard and a power bank turning it into a laptop. The ram (16GB) and lack of variable refresh rate is it's only downfall. Otherwise look into a refurbished laptop or type laptop into the ozbargain's search bar.

Is this good? 14 inch screen is a let down for gaming

    • All the gaming handhelds eg. Steam Deck and Ally are under 8" and they are more than fine…

      And it's a 16:10 14" as well

$2700+ for a xx60 series GPU seems wrong. Not even top spec CPU either? Where is the bargain?

    • @HiddenSquid
      Maybe its hidden….

The bargain is because there's been basically nothing in terms of gaming laptop deals for the last half a year for anything around the mid-high end range.

At this point you either bite the bullet if you need/want to upgrade or continue coping and hodl for a deal that is unlikely to come until hopium inevitably reignites around Black Friday/Cyber Monday in 5 months

      • I get your logic, but that doesn't make it a bargain, just the only option

    • I kind of agree - but the "value statement" from this model is that it is a 14" one compared to most xx60's in 16-17" sizes and is much thinner. I guess in similar way that Razer 14 used the same marketing to sell at a premium price - though I'm really dubious about the cooling on these models as with the Razers. It's just a no compromise for a discrete GPU with a Macbook pro like profile.

Then again, these days if I want best portability, I'd just stick to my GPD Win or the myriad of Steamdeck-like handhelds with iGPUs that does alright in performance on the go.

      • Razer blade 14 actually has a pretty decent cooling.

I had the first gen model and it was able to sustain 100w to the gpu.

At the time it was considered somewhat underpowered, but nvidia started being scummy and capped the voltage of 4/5070 gpus and below.

Which effectively meant 100w is about the most you can get from them anyway.

  • What the? This is an extremely bad deal. 5060 for $2.7k???

    • It's a 14" slim model compared to other 16"+ thick models.

      • “Slim” and “gaming” don’t belong together - it’s pure marketing.

      • My Legion Slim 5 14 with similar tier hardware at the time only cost me $1800… definitely wouldn't be paying more for a HP.

  • I was considering the 5070 ti version and decided against it. The GPU is power throttled at 65w and pretty poor in comparison to others running the same. A vbios update can apparently resolve but it's a risky exercise.

    • You wouldn't because the cooling on this will be very limited since it is a thin / low profile laptop with limited fans and air space within. That's why they kept the power so low to keep it cool and not overheat.

This guy flashed a 120w vbios on the older model, suprisingly looks fine

        https://youtu.be/g7O-SN07LXo?t=25m30s

      • The main problem is the use of only USB C charging which limits the entire laptop to a max of 140W. The cooling can actually handle around 90W

      • Partially agree. Tests show there's a fair amount of thermal headroom. The 1st post vid is a good one.

    3k for a 5060 laptop ?

  • In OP's defence all 50 series laptops have been marked up ridiculously.
I think this is the first time inflation has hit this hard in the laptop scene.
