Good deal, they're pricematching MSY/Umart who had this at this price for the last couple of days.

    • +2

They still have it for $199, I'm adding it to the post. Thanks for the info

  • Good mobo, the wifi card is very cheap though and is only 1x1

    • +3

Got the same mobo, I get 600/600 on Wifi 6 5 GHz. My router is an Asus AX53U. NBN isn't quick enough to warrant an upgrade for me but apparently you can remove the I/O cover and replace the card with something like an Intel AX210.

  • +5

Co-incidentally just built a machine with this identical motherboard with a RTX5070ti..

To my surprise it has PCIexpress 5.0 support on the GPU slot and M2 slot.. (usually only on B650E and X670e)
Presumably, its unofficial and could break, or get removed at any time..

    • +2

It can't be removed if you keep the current BIOS. If it is stable, it will be fine

    • Noticed this too, officially it is only PCIe 5.0 on the top M.2 slot. Does it show up as PCIe 5.0 in Windows?

    • wow I have seen this mentioned on another post for a gigabyte board I think also, I need a list of boards with pcie 5.0 x16 now if a lot of boards have had it enabled via bios update

    • +1

I bought a 5070Ti on my older B550 plus 5900x and have been a little disappointed as the B550 works best at pcie4.0x8, I've been getting problems with chipset devices whe nI go t o16x like the network devices becoming unuseable and weirs hangs / udb drives cannot copy files..

So I'm looking at THIS board and an R7 9800x3d to bring it to a more focussed biuld 1 CCX, no fabric swapping).

      Thoughts? - up to the job? I already got a case / 5070ti / 1000W psu with 600W on the HP12v cable / SSD
      and just need board/cpu/ram

The 9800x3d is $820 on amazon at the moment, this board $200 - decent (compatible) 2x32gb ram 600mhz ~sub $400
      Any better suggestions?

More importantly… will it run a 9000 out of the box?

      • +2

9800X3D is $799.5 at KS computer eBay if you have eBay Plus, $820 without eBay Plus. Stack with gift card and cashback.

Thanks for that, saved me a 1 week wait from amazon US, I hope.

      • ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-E has bios flashback so it doesn't matter.. you can update to the latest bios regardless.

    • +2

ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-E and a few other board from ASUS and Gigabyte now support PCIE on the graphics slot with the latest bios.
This is because the feature was artificially segregated for AMD to create another price point. Enough time has passed and AMD doesn't care anymore about what AIB partners do with B650.. :) PCIE 5.0 for the GPU and nvme slot is coming from the CPU itself

MSI doesn't seam to want to play ball and do the same thing.

      • +1

Interesting, thanks for the insight. Might return my MSi b650m gaming plus wifi for this instead

        • unless your looking at putting in a RTX6090 next year or want to run a 8GB card i wouldn't worry too much about PCIe5.0

          • @vid_ghost: Yeah 16GB cards dont care, too much until they run out of VRAM but future proofing with an AM5 board seems worth it.

    • Which mobo firmware are you on Kelvin? The latest firmware, Version 3263 (2025/06/18), says 'This update is irreversible. Rolling back to older BIOS versions is not supported'.

      ty

    • I am curious on the power supply that you chose for your build. Which one did you end up with?

  • I want a intel deal like this

    • Z890 are much cheaper than X870E. Z890 Hero is only $599 while X870E is over $1000

    • +6

imagine buying an intel CPU in big 2025

  • Yeah im not sure what to buy i was thinking about the Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX but this asus might do. Is there really any difference between wifi 6 and wifi 6e

    • 6GHz band support.

    • How congested is your WiFi environment and does your WiFi access point / router support 6e?

    • Are you planning to use a mATX case or not? If you are and you need max slots for GPU then you wouldn't want the Asus as the GPU isn't in slot1.

  • Bought it a week ago through ebay when it was 10% cashback and worked out slightly cheaper after bank bonus and paying with gift card purchased at discount.

  • +1

Bought this a few weeks ago with a 9800x3d. Great motherboard for the money, very happy with it.

    • where'd you source that cpu?

      • +2

        Bought everything Centrecom

  • Anyone knows of it will it a 3 slot GPU and an additional single slot PCI 3x4 sound card?

    • No

      • thanks.

      • actually i made a mistake, the sound card is actually a PCI x1 size, not x4. This mobo does have PCI x1 slots, but not sure if the 3 slot GPU allows the lowest slot to be used by the sound card?

        • +2

3 slot graphics card will cover all the rest of the board to the bottom. The only way to use the PCIe x1 slot with a 3-slot graphics card on this board is to use a riser cable.

Actually, if you have any need for extra PCIe devices other than the graphics card, buying an ATX board might be a better choice.

Alternatively, MSI B650M Gaming PLUS WiFi has a PCIe x1 slot above the graphics card x16 slot, which could make it able to use them in the same time

  • Anybody know if the box is meant to be sealed?

    • +1

No, but the ESD bag should have a seal in most cases

      • Thanks. Should have checked before asking but the bag actually doesnt either. Hope they werent sus and send me a refurb instead.

      • Mine didn't have a seal both the box nor the ESD bag from memory, I didn't use it regardless.

  • I purchased this motherboard from Umart and tried to enter the serial number to claim my game code. However, when I entered the serial number, I received a message stating it was already registered for this event. Does anyone know how to contact ASUS directly? I tried Umart but they just told me to try it again and on failing contact them directly. Their old email is discontinued, and I can’t even register products I’ve bought from ASUS.

  • Thanks OP.. i wasn't sure i was going to get the board but i got emailed a $5 coupon from Centercom and after getting Doom the dark ages for free it should work out to be a pretty good deal. :) $196 Driveled for the board after CC surcharge and $5 coupon code

  • +1

Attempted to claim the free game "Monster Hunter"- via the Doom Dark Ages promotion… Failed… "reached maximum redemptions. or something like that"

If anybody, get the free game.. let us know how..

    • Thats strange i though Doom the dark ages was the "free game"

    • I cant even see Monster Hunter anywhere?

    • Seems this mobo isn't part of the doom deal🤷🏻‍♂️ Only the more expensive ones are.

    • +1

I don't know why you have added the words "Monster Hunter" into your post 🤷‍♂️

But assuming you are actually trying to redeem Doom The Dark Ages, then I have the same problem - I can fill out the form, which correctly recognises my Motherboard Model from the Serial Number - but once I click the blue Submit at the bottom of the page, then I just see an error :

You have reached the redemption limit. Thank you for your participation!

I haven't participated, and the only way I can have reached my redemption limit, is if the limit is zero 🤷‍♂️

  • Maybe you need to make an ASUS account first.

    • I've done that but still get the redemption limit error.

      • This motherboard is listed on this page.
So it 100% is part of the doom give away.
Hers is the Aussie ASUS website promo link.. maybe it only works with this link

        https://www.asus.com/au/events/infoM/activity_doom-the-dark-…

        • +2

Yes I know, it's doesn't work though like the other comments.

          • @zachhambo: has anyone actually successfully completed this process and obtained a key? i am also awaiting a support ticket response as per those above

            • @Splurge: Not me, I'm waiting for Asus - I have a case number and they are working on it 🤩

            • @Splurge: Also waiting for response from AU support. Suspect they are checking why the asus-promotion email team told us to contact local support instead.

      • +3

HEY ALL - THE REDEMPTION PAGE IS WORKING.

Maybe the boffins over at Asus configured it to open accept redemptions from 1/7/25..

Anyway, been a heck of a journey good luck all.

        • +1

          IT IS INDEED WORKING !

I've just submitted mine successfully, finally! Thanks @Splurge.

          @8azinga @Splurge @zachhambo @vid_ghost @Kelvin @HiBeam <— I think that's everyone

          • +1

@Nom: Yep, I'm glad i checked back here on this post.. i was also able to submit my serial number and now i have to wait 3 to 10 business days for it to be reviewed :) i guess we do get a DOOM The dark ages game code after all

            • @vid_ghost: Thanks for the alert.. just submitted my my two boards. as well…
just have to wait for their response..

  • +1

Beware if you need maximum amount of GPU space in a mATX case, the GPU slot is in 2nd slot position.

    • You mean it doesn't sit on Case's top PCIE bracket? it fits into the 2nd at the highest?

      • +1

        Correct, m.2 is in 1st PCI-E slot.

        • Thanks. Your comment helped me determine it is not suitable for the Dan A3 :(

My B650M Aorus Elite shorted itself, under warranty now, gotta be patient :(

          • @The Milk Man: Shieet, what happened prior to it? I have a Dan A3, and I bought this by mistake, ended up with the AX and returned the ASUS.

            • @Tbargain12: I honestly have no clue.
Took it out of an ATX case, but it in the DAN A3 - never saw light again.

Thought it was the PSU, pressured for a DOA replacement and got it, then it still didn't work.
narrowed down to CPU or MOBO, took both to the shop I got them from, they were 100% it's the MOBO without giving the CPU any stress. So now I'm waiting.

Also it wouldn't work in the DAN A3 because of my GPU

              TUF 7900XTX
Needs 3 slots in practicality and I wanted 3 intake fans underneath it - so couldn't do both fans and GPU if I went with the MOBO posted abive

              • @The Milk Man: Yeah that's unlucky… Yeah not many choices if you want the max slots, also with the AX + Dan A3, the top radiator fitment is pretty picky too, hope you're all good there as well if you're using an AIO.

              • @The Milk Man: Also have the DAN a3, don't bother with 3 intakes beneath the gpu, causes turbulence between GPU and case fans, minimal for temps.

I have this MOBO, with a beefy 5070ti, fits perfectly, GPU stays quiet intaking fresh air from bottom.

However, deshrouding GPU with 2-3 120mm fans at bottom would be the optimal, but I haven't bothered yet,

                • @vikavish: actually all done

GPU and CPU max at 55 each respectfully
                  no issues

my choice of fans are pretty noisy
P12 MAX, sounds like I'm harvesting bees.

Game code is now working from this link . https://www.asus.com/au/events/infoM/activity_doom-the-dark-…

I was able to submit my code and I'm waiting for a reply now with the free Doom game serial number :)

  • Build a PC with this motherboard. Working well no issues.. Hate the bios menu :) its not as good as MSI or Gigabyte's layout. Glad i dont need to go into it often

  • Glad I came back to this thread if I get a free game but had some issues registering : https://www.asus.com/au/events/register/activity_8842

    • What issues? That link just taks you to the sign up or log in page for other people. May take you to a different page because that activity is related to your account.
You can check the status of application here https://account.asus.com/au/EventSearch.aspx if you are logged into your account. They say it takes up to 20 working days.

      • Mainly could not get to the registration page / find a working link that was not taiwanese.

Just received my code from ASUS - look at the email from [email protected] very carefully, and the Voucher code is buried at the start of the text, before the ============

Follow the instructions here - https://us.gamesplanet.com/promo/DOOMASUSAPAC - to use the emailed Voucher code to reduce the price of Doom The Dark Ages to $0 and voila.

    • Same here. There was a light at the end of the tunnnel. Free $120 game for a $190 Motherboard :)

    • I don't know where you saw the instruction to go to gamesplanet but you saved me, thanks. Asus B650M-E WiFi was eligible for Doom Dark Ages promotion.

Purchased this motherboard from Umart/MSY. Took about 5 days to get the email voucher from Asus after registering online. Registration for this promo ends on July 15 for purchases before August 1, I think.
