  • Why are they still producing bagged Vacuum Cleaners, just curious …

I wonder if Google knows? Oh wait, it does…

because bagged can be cheaper or better then bagless, especially for those with allergies :)

every time I empty our Dyson and have to deal with the cloud of dust coming out of the garbage bin I wonder why I went away from bagged ;)

      • Maybe coz Dyson sucked better? ;)

        • +1

          nope…
compared to a quality bagged vac like Miele the dyson has no better (and personally i think worse) suction

I got a Dyson because it was cheap from amazon in europe a while back, but if i was paying normal local prices I would be buying something else (likely a quality bagged vac)

Since getting our bagged Miele I would never go back to a bagless… for many reasons.

  • can anyone comment on the aircon? seems cheap for a split system even if it is for a small room, plus has 5 year warranty? anyone know roughly what an install would cost too?

    • You'd be paying nearly the same amount as the air con itself, roughly $400 to $500.

      • fair enough, that price would go for pretty much any split system though right?

        • It does get a little more expensive as you go up in power. I know an 8kW or more would cost around $700.

        • 8kw split system for $700? where? Its more like $1600+!

        • I was talking about installation :P

    • 5 year warranty is standard it seems, though I've had really good experiences with warranty being honoured on other Aldi products (eg the coffee machine)
Retailers suggested to us it would be $550 - 650 to install a unit that we bought from them, but apparently it depends on how far away from the indoor unit the outdoor unit is.

I don't know about this 9-18m2 cooling capacity of that unit? The NSW govt energy efficiency site reckons an insulated 30m2 room requires 2.6Kw.
Does anyone else have any experiences with this kind of number? We have a 25m2 room that we don't need to chill like a fridge, but just take the burn off on those crazy days so the kids can sleep. Will a smaller unit just do nothing because it doesn't have the capacity to take the heat out of a room, or will it at least have some effect?

      • These aircons from Aldi came down to $549 (or $499 last year). I bought one out of impulse in Jan 2010 for $599 - was one year warranty at that time. It kept sitting in the garage till Dec 2011 then I ended up selling it on Gumtree. Just didn't worth spending another $500-700 for an under-capacity system for my needs. Ended up getting a 5hp ducted Fujitsu system for around $5.3k.
