Best Large Screen Mobile Phone Under $100

Hi,

Considering the
Huawei Ascend Y300 for $99 4" screen (locked to telstra is fine as Aldi Sim)

Looking for a large screen/print phone for someone with low vision, Under $100,
Is the Txt Message font size on thy Y300 the same as a samsung galaxy S2? If it is that font is ok…

Just need for phone and SMS, No internet or fancy apps…

Is there something better bang for buck? Or larger Screen…

Cheers in advance…

You can buy an Optus locked Huawei G510 for $149 which is the biggest you can get for under $200 bucks. It measures 4.5 inches.
Just get bagman to unlock it.

Failing that get the 4" Huawei Y300 and use this app to change text size.

On the Samsung Galaxy S2 (Jelly Bean), you can increase the font size by quite a large amount. You just press Volume Up while looking at the SMS to increase text size.

This feature may not exist on Huawei phones, so you might need to play around with it in the shop to see if it works.

In which case I recommend a Senior's phone like the Telstra EAsycall 2 or 3. These have big fonts and oversized keypards, makes it easy to text and dial numbers.

    • For under $200 I'd get either the original 5inch Kogan Agora Smartphone or the new quad core Agora smartphone.

I actually bought the first batch of the original 5inch Agora and it is THE BEST bang for buck I've ever spent on a phone and I've had a lot of phones… Some people have issues with reception due to their network but I'm with Vodafone, live in Sydney and always have perfect reception with this phone.

Performance wise I'd compare it to my old Samsung Galaxy S2 except less glitchy (I got rid of it due to this) and the Agora screen isn't as crisp as the S2 but it's 5inchs so it would suit the OPs needs perfectly.

Don't pay attention to the bad reviews if you're with Vodafone and living in Sydney. A close friend bought one too on my recommendation and they have not had any of the problems reported by Telstra customers.

  • How about a China phone? posted from my China Android $140 4.7".

  • Aldi 4" Medion Android Phone, was originally at $149 now can see them on floating around in various Aldis at $99

  • Just phone and sms?
Grab one of those accessability phones from DSE etc.
Their font is about 16pt, and they have oversized buttons.

As someone who has severe vision issues, I can speak from experience to their ease of use.

With that said, if you do want a smart phone (to install a screen reader for them; they work quite well in past experience, though that was on symbian)

the HDC china phones are 2nd only to ZOPPO i believe.
